Photography 1/365
I need a photography challenge, a reason to pick up my camera each day.
It sounds odd, but I love to have photos, to look at them (mine and yours), but I hate taking them. I want to be a better photographer. I once took a class, but I didn’t do my homework. Maybe I do like taking photo’s, I just don’t like getting organized to take photos. You know getting up to get the camera, finding the camera, choosing the settings (hahaha choosing the settings — like I know what that means), changing the lens, replacing the batteries in the flash. If I only had an assistant, a good looking, muscular assistant with a hot bod, 30 something — oh yeah, I do, he’s just busy with the kids and the cooking (bwahahaha)!
I suppose then, that I like photography like I like scuba diving or downhill skiing. The results are enjoyable, but getting ready … OH, what a pain in the keester! Being a lazy being means it’s a miracle I have ever attempted these sorts of activities more than once!
Back to the challenge, I’ve decided to join Project 365 –> take a photo everyday and upload it to the flickr group.
I heard that SIGH, that GROAN, the ‘as if’ under your breath! I know I dropped out of the 365blog thing, but this will be different, it’s just a photo! I think photography takes practice and I hope this will give me the just the practice I need. Don’t forget –> I stuck with the 30 Tiny Moments and the NaBloPoMo.
Hey, give the kid a break, it’s only day one of a very, very long year!

It’s gonna be tough. I am only on day 25 but I cannot wait to see them all together! Good for you I say!

@girl — yes, seeing them altogether is going to be my motivation. I am hoping to make the whole set a book @ the end of the year.
@cindi – howdy to you too. Thanks as always. You’re always so sweet to me. I look forward to you coming by :)
@jenn b – yeah, the processing kind of sucks too. However, because I am not much of a writer I generally NEED photos in my post … adds an extra 1000 words. *snicker* *snicker*

Howdy! Your pictures always catch my attention. You can do this!
I wish you much luck with your Project 365. Cindi

That sounds like a great way to improve your skill. I would love to learn more about photography. Maybe I should take a class too.

That is hilarious! The color makes it look oddly vintage, too… like the old slightly foreign-looking picture books of my youth.

That picture nearly had me falling out of my chair! Too funny! What kind of camera do you use. Your pictures are always so nice. I love the 365 idea. I take a ton of pictures, but I don’t think I’m brave enough for project 365.

Try this a couple of times, when taking a shot.
Don’t look at the subject, but the light on the subject.
For example on the picture above one pigtail is lit brighter than the other.
So concentrate the center of lens on the bright one with the button half down so the camera will set the light level to that brightness, then move to back to frame your shot of the face. Then take one with it set on the less lit one. It can make interesting shots.

You are my 4th or 5th bloggy friend to start this. Maybe I need to join in. I could use a reason to take a picture every day. I’m half convinced to do it!

My problem with the whole taking photos thing, which I love to do, is actually downloading them. I have to find the cord, then I have to figure out which photos I’ve already downloaded. Then actually doing something with the once all that business has been done. I don’t think I’ve had photos printed in 2ish years.
I’d love to be able to take better photos as well. My niece just saw Georgia’s picture and said “She’s beautiful and … crazy”

@One Scrappy Gal – I will, I will and thank you!
@ Lace – it’s probably your computer caching the comment thingy. Trying refreshing before you post again?! I’m not crazy about that part of photography either.
@ Jamie – I heard that!
@ Safire – come on join me … I dare you!

How about a bit of a combo of your hobbies then – photography and scuba diving. Okay, so it doubles your preparation time, but with a bit of practice the results more than justify the time and expense. And you don’t have to use a big expensive slr – a compact point and click camera is more than sufficient. Easy peasy and lots of fun!

Or photography and downhill skiing could make an interesting combination

What a skill! Even today I can’t do it. She is the best.
Great shot BTW.
