I feel so bad!

Published by on

Sam: Mom, it’s been two weeks since I lost my tooth and the tooth fairy hasn’t come yet.

I feel so guilty … poor guy … I’m a bad, bad mom!

Me: Well, maybe she is really busy; leave her a note on your door … so she can’t forget.

Later, I found this:

Tooth Fairy Reminder

For those of you that don’t read 2nd grade scrawl.

It says:

TOOTH –>

Boy name Sam
Look
I like all dtails
Draw: (he wanted her to draw a picture of herself, DUH, I drew a tooth!)
Name: (I said her name was Miss. T. Fairy)
Old: (I figure she’s been around a while so I put 573 1/2)

And I left him $4.50 (all the change I had in my wallet).

He’s happy! I feel sad that I am so pre-occupied!

Contest ends tonight I will be picking the winners Wednesday / Thursday (it’ll take a while to track down all the links, banners etc.) and comments.

Do you have any ideas for the end of January?

MK xo

Awwwww! Poor Sam. Actually, it probably won’t have a life altering effect on him, and I’m sure he’s thrilled to get 4.50 for one tooth! I’ll bet he’s the first kid ever to find out exactly how old the tooth fairy is. I had no idea she was THAT old. He’ll be telling everyone at school tomorrow!

Solomon Broad · January 16, 2008 at 4:24 am

I think he’ll get over it. What I wont get over is my dad coming into my room dressed as a fairy to put the money under my pillow late one night after I lost a tooth.

OMG, I just read the above comment and that would be horrifying! Poor guy! As for Sam, don’t feel guilty-its not like you forgot to feed him…

It’s so easy to find ways to feel guilty regarding our children. I’d say Sam is a pretty lucky child to have a Mom like you…even if you are a little late with tooth money!

As for ideas for January, how about everyone shares some good old winter fun pictures?

Deb · January 16, 2008 at 6:41 am

Wow! I wouldn’t feel so bad. After all, the tooth fairy is busy, isn’t she? And $4.50! I’ll be sending my kids to your house! LOL

Hey, we are all human and forget things when life gets busy. I am sure we will do something similar here when the time comes.

My mom used to forget and she would leave the money wherever..example – sister gets up, look under pillow, no money, goes in kitchen to tell mom – mom, as soon as sister goes to get ready – “oh shoot” and scrambles to collect money, then sits it on the kitchen table, sister comes back, mom says – “oh what is this – oh, the tf must not have been able to get it under your pillow, go get your tooth and put it here for her to collect tonight” – sister fell for it everytime. :)

laurie · January 16, 2008 at 10:07 am

i remember writing a note for the tooth fairy as well, i wasn’t going to tell my mum about it but i slipped. the next morning there was a 3 page note left by the tooth fairy, answering all my questions. i was satisfied that she existed after that, even though her handwriting looked an awful lot like my mums…. :)

It’s actually hard to remember to leave money for teeth!! Ethan has only lost 2 but I had to write reminder notes when he put it under his pillow so I would actually remember to put the money there after he fell asleep!

So don’t feel bad!

The tooth fairy probably got behind during the holidays and is still trying to catch up. It sounds like $4.50 made him happy and that is all that matters! Will you be my tooth fairy?! Cindi

lace · January 16, 2008 at 1:41 pm

that tooth fairy sure does give more money than she used to when I was little.

I think that’s the cutest note i’ve ever seen! I agree, he made out like a bandit from that fairy, although perhaps she was paying interest on what she owed from the days she missed? :D

Someday some publisher is going to read your blog and you will end up with a book deal. Your entire family just cracks me up – love Sam’s note.

Michelle · January 16, 2008 at 8:17 pm

I guess she has been extra busy these days!! I can imagine that I will forget a few of those minor details as well.
