This is my brain …

It feels old and ricketty. My wheels are turning slowly … when they turn. Staying positive feels like an uphill battle.

I hope you cheer up soon. I think we all feel like this at times. It’s not fun. Your photo’s are great. I feel like I always say that, but they really are. Maybe I should give it a rest.

I have been thinking a lot about you. Checking for updates. It almost feels surreal that these things can happen to the strongest and bravest people we know (or know virtually in this case). There will be better days to come, you must believe that, and until then, do what you can to get through it all. I am not saying this as a feeble attempt to cheer you up, but when things seem so dark that you have no clue how to get a grip, know that people are praying and keeping you in their most sincere and caring thoughts.

I check your blog all the time hoping to hear that you are doing well. Try to give yourself a break. Do the stuff you enjoy and forget about the rest. Kids can rewear clothes, I know my daughter has pulled the same dress out of the laundry room before I can wash it for 7 days now. I dress her in clean clothes but after lunch she takes off her clothes and the dress goes back on! On a happy note she peed twice in the potty today. She has never gone more than once in a day :)

Hey there, MK…I was hoping to hear you’d been feeling better. I went through a bit of this back when I was in severe pain every day and had to re-arrange my life to accommodate the pain (ie, no real vacuuming only swiffer-vaccing, no jeans, no heeled shoes, no bra… and a lot more). It was difficult because I knew for sure that the meds at the time would only bring temporary relief (and icky side effects—severe nausea, hot flashes, itchiness and being unable to drive anywhere) and even going to bed at night seemed pointless as I would wake up every 30-45 minutes with something else in throbbing pain (ankle then wrist then neck then elbow then lower back) … there were only so many pillows I could prop the hurting parts up with! And every time it would take a good 20 minutes to fall asleep again. Even getting up to pee meant I’d have to go through the whole pillow-propping routine again, ugh. My entire routine had to be altered to account for problems and to allow extra time for everything, even getting dresses—some days I could not gets socks on without help, even!
I think it makes it doubly hard as women, we’re used to being the nurturer and being able to get through anything painful or yucky or whatever… all of a sudden we’re asking for help, or “not feeling like it” when some of the normal day-to-day stuff comes up. But, having been in that position for a couple of years and watching a lot of chores fall to the wayside and having to use up my time dealing with the pain, is that when people want to help, let them. Or, go for lunch with friends even if you don’t feel like it. Make demands of some of your friends… that’s what friends are for! Go shopping with a friend or go for pedicures or play makeup-session. Have a make-ahead meal party with a few friends and trade off dishes for the freezer so that you have a change in dinner now and then — there’s a book called ‘The BIG Cook’ written by 3 gals from Medicine Hat that is all recipes that you mix up raw then freeze in ziplocs so you can take out a ziploc, dump the contents into your crockpot and have a good meal without all the salt and other stuff you find in frozen prepared entrees from the grocery store.

Hope you have a good weekend and some fun with your family :)

Just checking in to see how you are feeling today. I’ve been thinking about you.

I hope those cobwebs have disappeared and the fog has lifted. I won’t say anything about the rusty bumper.

I hope you pick up soon – feeling ill or run down is one of the worst feelings to have. Think of some good times, the Summer and what’s ahead (or does that make it worse!)
