Auntie Georgie and Unkie Sam (he wants Unkie, not uncle). Uncle Sam does sound a bit too American for a Canadian uncle, don’t you think?
Hayley will be induced tomorrow, so our new baby boy will be here SOON!
I’m excited, but the G-word is still doing nothing for me. Mr. MK thinks he might like ‘Pops’, but I can’t think of a good G-word substitute.

So exciting!! When I saw your photo on Flickr, I wondered if Hayley might be in labour already. I bet you all can’t wait until tomorrow (or the next day, depending on how long bubs takes to make the grand entrance). Cute pic of the new Aunty and Uncle to be! :-)

My mom used a variation of her maiden name for hers, “Arnie”, and my dad was an airline captain so he’s “Captain”. Pretty cute, huh?
My Mom is Grammy to our girls and my grandma was Nan or NanNan when we were small. Before our girls could talk very well one called my Mom ” Bam” and the other called her “Bow-ie (like take a bow) No matter what that sweet babe calls you it will full of love that’s all that will matter. Congrats can’t wait to see pics!!!
Can’t wait to hear some good news! I will pray Hayley’s delivery goes smoothly. My nephew couldn’t pronounce Grampa, so he called my dad Drampoonth for years! Haha. Sorry, though, no original ideas for you though. One idea, though, is to take your main heritage (dutch, german……), and find out the traditional name for grandma in that language. Then, you can put your own twist on it. That way, when people ask what that means, you have a story :o). Good luck and hope to hear from you soon!!!!
Yay horray!! Hope everything goes well and you will all be able to enjoy that little boy soon!
As for alternatives to grandma, we use Nana here. Or I’ve heard Oma, Nonnie, MawMaw, Mimi, Marmie, and Mema.
If I wasn’t going to be Nana too, I might have picked Marmie for myself! Love it!
