I get a lot of questions about my camera.

It is a Nikon D70.

The Nikon D70 is too much camera for moi! SERIOUSLY, I just leave it on the ‘auto’ setting and take pictures. This means to get a good picture, I sometimes have to take dozens of shots. Georgia often finds this a little annoying.

Psst: I might take a photography class soon, if I can find some time. I am think about giving up sleeping. Until then I’ll be checking out the tips @ DutchBlitz.

Georgia
First shot isn’t too bad, I catch her unaware!

Me: Georgie, Georgie look at Mommy and smile …

Georgia
Georgia: I’m trying to smile Mommy, but you’re getting on my LAST NERVE!

Georgia
Georgia: OK Mom, I have had enough!

Georgia
Georgia: MOM. YOU. ARE. GOING. TO. DRIVE. ME. TO. DRINK!

ME: Come on Georgie, just one more BIG smile for Mommy, Ok?

Georgia
Georgia: Dear Lord, Give me strength.

To be the next winner (or maybe even win again), you need only leave a comment.

EVERY day in September I’m giving away free prizes (maybe more, but at least one). Just like in the past the winners will be randomly drawn and posted here on the site.

The winners will be able to choose one of any of the prizes listed on the flickr set: Super September. Once an item is chosen, it will be removed from flickr and will no longer be available (unless I have two … which I do for some).

All you have to do to win each day’s prize is leave a comment on the most current post.

All prizes are provided by: www.thebabymarketplace.com in conjuction with www.mommyknows.com

What a beautiful girl!

Naomi · September 2, 2007 at 10:25 am

I remember when my girl used to LOVE having her picture taken. So sad when they start getting indignant about it…

Got the cute Mexx pants yesterday and Jasper will wear them well when it cools down here. They are very nicely made, I must say! Thank you so much.

Michelle · September 2, 2007 at 10:55 am

Love that last shot. Too funny, with that caption.

Bree · September 2, 2007 at 12:12 pm

she is gorgeous!

Angella · September 2, 2007 at 12:50 pm

Oh no! The pressure! Kidding :)

She’s SUCH a doll. You take great photos already, and it definitely helps that you have such a pretty subject :)

Laura · September 2, 2007 at 12:59 pm

I have looked at that camera too..and the Canon Rebel..they seem similar..why did you choose that one?

glittersmama · September 2, 2007 at 1:21 pm

The “drive me to drink” shot is my favorite. I love when their own little personalities pop out.

Kathryn · September 2, 2007 at 1:44 pm

She’s so gorgeous. It seems hard to find the “right” digital camera, doesn’t it? Mine’s too much for me too…

Beth · September 2, 2007 at 1:46 pm

I really want a new camera-but I think I’d have to take classes to learn how to use it too.

Mama K · September 2, 2007 at 2:20 pm

she’s so cute I don’t think your photo skills are a problem! :)

Andrea · September 2, 2007 at 2:38 pm

haha…yeah, I do that with Tate too…take a TON of photos in a row…he seems to not care at all…guess he must be used to it by now!

Montserrat · September 2, 2007 at 3:23 pm

When she’s older she’ll appreciate having all the pictures of her as a child – at least her kids will. Mine love looking at me when I was little.

Alexia · September 2, 2007 at 3:35 pm

Reminds me of what I do with the boys, although my camera is just a piece of junk…I wish I had awesome settings!

Georgia’s eyes are so BLUE – I love them!

Deb · September 2, 2007 at 3:55 pm

Here’s another question for you: do you enhance the pics on your computer before we get to see them? Because Georgia’s eyes are so blue and her clothes are always so nice and bright!

Carey · September 2, 2007 at 4:26 pm

Great photos. Your daughter is just adorable. Thanks for the info on your camera. Hope your having a great weekend.

Kait · September 2, 2007 at 4:49 pm

My child is also impossible to photograph!

Jaime Stephens · September 2, 2007 at 7:32 pm

I’m in the too many picture club too… both my girls will humour me with one picture…the rest are all scrunchie faces… still cute though. Georgia’s a real cutie. I love her shirt…is it a new product?

Deb on the Rocks · September 2, 2007 at 7:46 pm

I need, but am phobic to shop for, a new camera.

Michelle · September 2, 2007 at 7:59 pm

I mostly just goofy shots of fake smiles as both kids love to be in pictures!

Gayle · September 2, 2007 at 8:02 pm

Great photo story! You are too cute, Georgia!

Teresa · September 2, 2007 at 8:36 pm

I love the captions! I am not sure why they are such hams when we don’t have a camera but then the camera comes out and it is all over…..well that is what happens around my house at least. :)

OMSH · September 2, 2007 at 9:10 pm

Bwahahahaha!
For every good photo – there are 30 discarded, eh?

I lerv me my Nikon D70!

alison · September 2, 2007 at 9:45 pm

Love the commentary . . . and that last picture especially.

lace · September 2, 2007 at 10:31 pm

My niece has become the same way. When I want to take a shot she doesn’t let me. Then she will get the camera bring it over and ask for her picture taken with the fakest smile ever. Not even cute.

Awesome blue eyes and red lips.

Thanks Sam!

corey · September 3, 2007 at 12:24 am

LOL I love this. If you have seen my blog you know that my daughter shares the pain. I am a mommy photographer freak. :)

Safire · September 3, 2007 at 6:19 am

Ha! Love her expressions. :) My daughter hams it up and all I get now is smushy faces. Hope you can take a photo class soon. This is my goal for 2008. A nice big camera like yours and a photography class!

Joa · September 3, 2007 at 6:56 am

Attend qu’elle découvre elle aussi le plaisir de la photographie! Ton appareil sera plein de clichés… de pieds!

Cherylyn · September 3, 2007 at 6:59 am

I almost never take pics of my kids (yeah, I am such a GREAT mom, I just keep forgetting) so when I do, they usually havetheir arms outstretched as they want to see what that box is in my hand! Hey, EPL is offering free classes on what to do with a digital in their fall lineup. I think they are way up in the north part of the city, but free is free!

Marla · September 3, 2007 at 7:02 am

Love your photos! I am such a lousy photographer. Going to check out that link and see if that will help.

Karyne · September 3, 2007 at 8:20 am

Her face is so funny. Annoying mother we are ;)

Nikki · September 3, 2007 at 11:42 am

That is so funny. My kids feel the same way I think. We just got a new camara with this “flash” button and it takes 9 pictures in 3 seconds so usually one of them turns out!

Lisa · September 3, 2007 at 12:24 pm

She is a great subject even if not always coroperative. You always seem to catch so much of her personality.

Lucy · September 3, 2007 at 12:47 pm

I think you are doing great! To me photography is about experimenting, change things around and see what happens, sometimes you get some cool shots.

momofangels · September 3, 2007 at 1:23 pm

i too take tons of pics of my son Shawn, i feel you cant take too many. then i sit down late at night and sort them out, i’ve caught a few great ones for his scrapbook..so for every 20 i usually come up with 2 great ones. he is a patient lil man and puts up with a camera stuck to his moms face constantly..lol

Paige · September 3, 2007 at 1:32 pm

Those are great!

Sarah W. · September 3, 2007 at 2:08 pm

What a beautiful little girl! My boys do the same thing and I usually get better pictures of them “in action” instead of face on. I have a Kodak EasyShare that is easy to use (but kids who hate to pose, too).

Heather · September 3, 2007 at 2:11 pm

I can never get my kids to even look at the camera-at least not all of them at once!

Yan · September 3, 2007 at 3:37 pm

I LOVE my Nikon too, they are so easy to take pictures :)

Kendra · September 3, 2007 at 4:31 pm

Wow am I glad I found your site from Home Economisers! I am in love with See Kai Run Shoes!

Denette · September 3, 2007 at 4:53 pm

Those are fantastic pictures and the kid is cute too.

Crystal · September 3, 2007 at 5:15 pm

She’s so cute! What gorgeous eyes :)

Diane · September 3, 2007 at 5:27 pm

You should make one of those little books where you flip the pages really quickly to see actions with those photos!!

serina · September 3, 2007 at 9:09 pm

I took a photography class a few years back, and it was a great decision. I learned so much!

You have a really great camera, and an adorable daughter!

Doreen · September 3, 2007 at 9:20 pm

Wow, she’s beautiful!!

ashpags · September 3, 2007 at 10:17 pm

Hey MK – thanks for the comment! I know how you feel…my D40 is too much camera for me too, but I love it anyways. I learned a lot from P-dub, and from http://www.kenrockwell.com/ Thanks for the link to Dutch Blitz! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! =)

Kilikina · September 3, 2007 at 10:38 pm

Your daughter is beautiful, and those pictures cracked me up!

Deanne S. · September 3, 2007 at 10:45 pm

My sister is a photographer and her kids feel the same way!!! Funny, maybe someday they’ll appreciate it…

Suzanne · September 3, 2007 at 11:22 pm

I love how kids tend to run towards the camera… that is my struggle with my 2.5yr old daughter Paige Elizabeth!

Tasha · September 3, 2007 at 11:53 pm

So patient….then the eyes roll ha ha

Amanda · September 4, 2007 at 1:25 am

Oh my! Look at those beautiful pouty lips! What a sweetie. Even if it is more camera than needed (i.e. always just set on auto), it seems the more expensive cameras pick up the colors better – which you can see in yours.

April · September 4, 2007 at 5:08 am

I have to vote for the “drive me to drink” shot, too. Unfortunately, my toddler recently attempted to destroy my camera, so now it is awaiting repair. But I may look into a new one instead :)

gour0 · September 4, 2007 at 6:21 am

She’s beautiful! I think most cameras are more than the average person needs. It helps to read the manual if you can. It’s amazing what fun tricks you can fine. A class would be good, too. I do better with hands-on learning myself.

Kelly · September 4, 2007 at 7:05 am

Wow! She’s got stunning eyes! Love the comments on how the photo shoot went… sounds like our house. :-) DS either hides his face (in a bad mood) or gives the forced smile (if in a compliant mood). DD just stops whatever she’s going and tries to grab the camera. We’ve got a Canon Rebel and yes, too much camera for me as well! Although it does take great pics… but I never use any of the features. I really should learn how… a friend does great stuff with his and sometimes gives us tips.

Heather Slater · September 4, 2007 at 8:44 am

She is just adorable!

Brooke · September 4, 2007 at 9:01 am

You take GREAT photos. The lighting is absolutely lovely.

Anu · September 4, 2007 at 10:32 am

She is a lovely girl!!

Charlotte · September 4, 2007 at 11:04 am

Love her beautiful “white” hair!

Laura · September 4, 2007 at 12:13 pm

Your pictures are beautiful!

I want to know how you acquired your PhotoShop skills, though!

jw4mkc · September 4, 2007 at 12:29 pm

I am right there with you.. What is worse than the kid not cooperating is that – now that we have digi cams.. I sometimes get it focused and look over it to get them to cooperate and just glance at the screen – well, it never fails that they do what I want and I cut off half of their heads from not looking at what I am doing!! I would be wasting a lot of film!!!

Kendra · September 4, 2007 at 12:46 pm

Beautiful photographs. I love it when I get a candid shot!

Christina · September 4, 2007 at 12:55 pm

Those colors are just amazing. I need to save up for that camera!

Mefeng · September 4, 2007 at 2:47 pm

She is very beautiful. Your photos are also great!
I’m not a awful photograher, hardly get nice pictures.
Thanks for info about your camera.

carol · September 4, 2007 at 3:03 pm

I used to take photos all the time of my first grandchild. Now I don’t take them as often. The poor second grandchild does not have as many photos. But that happened with my children. Not as many photos the more children I had. Just too busy for photos

maddiesmom · September 4, 2007 at 3:51 pm

My daughter loves getting her photo taken..she’s only 8 months old though..

Yummymom! · September 4, 2007 at 6:46 pm

Wow, she have amazing blue eyes…!!!!

priya · September 4, 2007 at 7:02 pm

wow, the last pic is superb.

Tasha · September 4, 2007 at 7:02 pm

I love the one where she is rolling her eyes.

PamW · September 4, 2007 at 9:21 pm

All the pictures you post are so great. It must be the combination of gorgeous children to shoot and having a decent camera plus some good shooting skills. Are you sure you need a photography class? I think you’re doing great already!

Janice · September 4, 2007 at 10:51 pm

My 5 year old always would take the camera from me, now he still does and even takes my camera phone and takes pictures of everything. If you even say the word picture, my boys all flip out. It would be quite funny if I wasn’t so busy trying to save my camera. lol

Kimmy C. · September 4, 2007 at 10:54 pm

Honestly I have no idea how you have time to do all that you already do. I homeschool and hubby is military and away and we are pregnant with our third child. I swear if I could give up sleeping I would. I hope to win something from this month as I am lucky girl and I know it, and because I really need a smile these days.

Your not alone, clearly…. here we are. :)

Karen · September 4, 2007 at 11:27 pm

absolutely precious!

Marcy · September 5, 2007 at 12:42 am

Gorgeous pictures.

gour0 · September 5, 2007 at 8:53 am

So, what are you doing today?

Kendra · September 5, 2007 at 10:06 am

Love your store!

Tasha · September 5, 2007 at 11:00 am

Hi, you mentioned that you succesfully cloth diapered your kids – were there any diapers and covers that were your favorites? Thanks.

Heather · September 5, 2007 at 11:25 am

I love your commentary; it made me laugh. :)

Jaime Stephens · September 5, 2007 at 5:34 pm

I hope you had a great long weekend… perhaps a last minute camping trip before the kids went pack to school? More fabulous pictures to tease us with? I still love that picture of the waterfall at Wells Gray park… dh even noticed when I was checking in on the blog and asked where it was. We were hoping to head that way but ran out of time. Soon!

Jenny M · September 5, 2007 at 9:36 pm

Gotta Love the point and click. We try to make a concerted effort to take pictures as DH is the youngest of 4- there is a picture of him as a newborn, at 3, and at 5 years old for the early years.

Safire · September 6, 2007 at 6:40 am

Hey, I’m the first one today! Just came back because my 2 year old wanted to see the “bwue eye giwl” again. :)

Anastasia · September 6, 2007 at 7:33 am

I am first time here. I like prices in your store. Is more winter clothes coming?

PamW · September 6, 2007 at 7:50 am

Now that summer is pretty much over are you looking forward to the fall?

Heather · September 6, 2007 at 8:21 am

How do you select which products to sell at the Baby Marketplace?

Jaime Stephens · September 6, 2007 at 8:35 am

I agree…how do you decide which products to sell in your store? And which ones not to sell? And I really do love the shirt Georgia is wearing… is it in the new fall lineup?

Deb · September 6, 2007 at 8:54 am

I think I just found a camera like yours, if not the same, in my new airmiles magazine….hmmm, perhaps we should save our miles for a camera…

laura · September 6, 2007 at 10:04 pm

The biggest reason that I bought a new camera this summer was to get a model with very little shutter delay. My 2003 Olympus just wasn’t up to taking photos of an active and opinionated little kid!

PamW · September 7, 2007 at 5:19 pm

Now that the first week of school is over are you excited for the first weekend of the school kids being home all day?

Tasha · September 8, 2007 at 8:39 pm

Love the pictures, I may have to get myself a new camera.
