I so DIDN’T drink all these …
**Winners are:
#29 jenB
#2 Lorie
In order to claim your prize you have to email me !
Include in your email: your name, address, and top 3 prize choices (just in case there are duplicate requests – prizes awarded in the order the requests are received).
Where are the prizes?: I have upload prizes onto flickr (set called: Anything Goes in August).
I’m getting a little bit stressed, well OK a LOT stressed. Hayley leaves for Brazil on Saturday afternoon. It’s getting too close. They lost a crucial document at the Brazilian consulate in Toronto and we still don’t have her passport back with the visa, so hopefully maybe she’ll be delayed.
All that said, I DIDN’T drink all of the beers that once existed below these caps!! HONEST ;) Hayley and her fellow employees collected these at work (waitress @ Alberts) and she had ME making bottle cap lapel pins with them tonight. Rotary exchange students trade pins to wear on their ‘red Rotary jackets’ and rather than buy a bunch of pins Hayley thought these caps would work. She is right, they are very cool (and that’s coming from a non-drinker (whole other post)).
I’ve discovered I have a knack for using a glue gun, I’m just full of hidden talents! Something new for the resume.
Hayley did pick a blog name: www.musingsfromblondie.com (I think she has a couple of short posts up). Tomorrow we will be doing a quick review of Flickr and WordPress (AFTER I finish the rest of the pins) so she is ready to start blogging!

To be the next winner (or maybe even win again), you need only leave a comment.

EVERY day in August I’m giving away free prizes (maybe more), but at least one. Just like in the past the winners will be randomly drawn and posted here on the site.
The winners will be able to choose one of any of the prizes listed on the flickr set: Anything Goes in August. Once an item is choosen, it will be removed from flickr and will no longer be available (unless I have two … which I do for some).
All you have to do to win each day’s prize is leave a comment on the most current post.
All prizes are provided by: www.thebabymarketplace.com in conjuction with www.mommyknows.com

I think those bottle caps will make really cute pins!! All the best for Hayley’s departure, I hope all the little issues get sorted, and the stress level drops. Very exciting – though I imagine a bit sad/difficult for you?? She’ll have a great time though.

Those are too cute!

Glue-gun talent is under-rated, for sure. I think the pins are divine!
Kait · August 10, 2007 at 5:30 am
I’ve never had much luck with glue guns myself. I just end up burning my fingers!
Safire · August 10, 2007 at 6:04 am
Great idea for pins! I’m in awe of your ability to use a glue gun…I hate them!
Karyne · August 10, 2007 at 6:08 am
It’s a great idea obviously to do pins with beer caps! You both are very imaginative! Good luck to Hayley in her Brazilian adventure.
Marla · August 10, 2007 at 6:27 am
I love the bottle cap/pin idea! Our family has been involved with Rotary exchange for a number of years ~ we still visit with our first exchange student who came to us from Mexico in 1974.

All the best to Hayley…exchanges are often the experience of a lifetime…and although departures are always hard (for the family as well),you come back with soooo much that you realize it was well worth it!

Those girls will love those pins! I went to an international girl scout camp once and remember trading pins, but I don’t think I got any nearly as cute as those!
jw4mkc · August 10, 2007 at 7:57 am
That is the neatest idea and those caps are perfect! I checked a week or so ago to see if her site was up and saw that it was.. She also has on there about the passport situation..Good Luck to her & maybe she will be prolonged a few days for you.. Just think how fast 18 years went by.. 11 months will be over before you know it.

Those are awesome! YOu area very good mommy to be making the pins, I’d be handing over a glue gun and saying, “you’re a big girl now, have fun!” Mind you, glue guns and I do not get along! Have a great day!
Kami · August 10, 2007 at 9:57 am
What a great idea! Those are about as Canadian as they get and also eco-friendly too :-)
Hope everything gets sorted out soon, I can’t even imagine sending one of my babies off to Brazil. You are a brave Mom!
Teresa · August 10, 2007 at 10:29 am

Damselfly · August 10, 2007 at 2:58 pm
I hope things work out for your daughter and her trip to Brazil. I’m sure you hate to see her go, but it will be so life-enriching for her.
Those bottle caps are great! I had no idea they were for beer. I actually thought they were buttons.
Ann · August 10, 2007 at 2:59 pm
Bottle caps used as pins…very creative.
Naomi · August 10, 2007 at 3:42 pm
my husband flattens bottle caps and then nails them to his sculptures so they make a kind of fish scale mosaic. the maple leaf ones are nice!
good luck to hayley- what a great adventure.
PamW · August 10, 2007 at 4:23 pm
Those are super cute pins. If you want to get some of the little Canada flag pins for free for her to pass out in Brazil you can if you contact your um, MP or MLA. Can’t remember which one, but if you phone their offices you can get a bunch from atleast one of them. If she’s delayed you might actually be able to get them before she goes (you can get so many for free just by going to their office, but it’s not many but if it’s for something like your daughter’s trip you can get more but need to make arrangements)
Susy-Q · August 10, 2007 at 5:19 pm
It must be difficult to let her go. I had a VISA problem too once and I was stressed out of my skull. I ended up having to delay my flight which in the end turned out fine, although I hope for Hayley’s sake that she will not be delayed on what she is probably totally excited about. I like the blog name. It’s great. You might have to add the blog to your “Other blogs I like” section!
Paula · August 10, 2007 at 6:27 pm
I love the artwork on Haley’s blog!
Jamie · August 10, 2007 at 6:52 pm
You know, I really think that maple leafs are the best ones around!
Whenever my kids see one now, they yell “CA-NA-DA! CA-NA-DA!”
Ness · August 10, 2007 at 7:22 pm
That is stressfull but maybe you’ll get a few more days to enjoy her. What a blessing.
Kathryn · August 10, 2007 at 7:23 pm
I think those make great pins. My oldest is 10.. I can’t imagine letting him go so far away.. You’ll be okay, mama. (Isn’t that what we say to each other? )
Yan · August 11, 2007 at 12:00 am
Cool pins ! Good luck Hayley and have a safe trip.
Jennifer Walker · August 11, 2007 at 6:29 am
Representing Canada!
Cathy · August 11, 2007 at 12:42 pm
Love the pins! Great idea!
Jaime Stephens · August 11, 2007 at 5:02 pm
OK I have to ask… where did you get the pins to put on the backs? I would love to make some similar pins to give to friends & family that are original.
PamW · August 11, 2007 at 5:09 pm
So, did Hayley leave today or are you still waiting on the visa thing and enjoying a few more days with her? She’ll be back before you know it I’m sure.
