Gone Calving …

Published by on

Georgia is away visiting Grandma and Poppa on the Ranch. They need all the help they can get during calving season!

Today, the first calf of 2008 was born …

Georgia & Calf

This little baby is brand new, still has its umbilical cord.

Thank goodness Georgia was there to help!

Apparently, she is going to name this one “Pinkie Pie” after her favorite ‘My Little Pony’ (such a lucky little calf).

Pioneer Woman and Marlboro Man — we do hire her out in the summer if you are short handed.

After a hard morning on the ranch, a little lunch on the patio is in order. Keep in mind were talking ‘Canada’ … ‘January’ — then again, it was a rather balmy day today with temps of about 5c (40f).

Picnic in January

Don’t you just love her hat? Cashmere with rhinestones … just perfect for working cows.

We miss you Georgie. Have a good time, don’t work too hard!

Photo’s courtesy of my mom! Psst … mom, try and hold the camera still … thanks!

That’s a baby calf? My goodness I sure am glad that kids don’t grow that big!!! Looks like Georgia’s having a blast… I’m sure Tala would enjoy herself as well. She had so much fun at the Petting Zoo when we got our Christmas tree.

Georgia’s face with that calf..she looks like she is pushing it out – she is too much (funny girl)! That is awesome for her to get to experience. Watch out in K-garten – her teacher will be calling “Ms. Mommyknows, your daughter was telling everyone where baby cows come from and how they are born” – :)

What a wonderful experience for a little girl! She must love it at the farm. I know I would have. I also used to be that blonde ( I was called a towhead ), wherever that comes from?! She sure is a cutie pie. I have two sons and no girls. My sons are adorable, too! Cindi

I saw my first calf being born when I was about 8. It was so cool. I’ve been obsessed with births ever since. (I even wanted to be a midwife at one point)
