I was so grumpy on Monday; I forgot to tell you that I am childfree and have been since Sunday night. Yes, you heard me right – ALL 4 gone! One traipsing around Brazil, and three with my mother on the farm. After a weekend at moms, she generously offered me the option of leaving them there. HELL YAH!

Saturday afternoon we had a ‘Family Picnic’, not just my immediate family, BUT the WHOLE family ~ the descendants of my ‘great’ grandparents.

The Whole Damn Family
This is all that attended the picnic. Just look what just two people can accomplish! We are now in our 5th generation with several ‘great-great’ grandchildren. You can see all the family pictures posted here: Wennerstrom Family Picnic. There are lots missing, but overall the turn out was pretty darn good.

Eric
This is ‘Uncle Eric’ the eldest member of our family @ 91.

Madison
This is Madison, the youngest member of our family @ 6 days.

We had a great day! There was tons of food, lots of laughs and some great photo ops.

Ah yes, the photo’s, well most of it was fun … except when I asked a group of young guys to take their picture and one of them said the “EFF” word under his breath! Seriously DUDE, how difficult is it to stand still for just 30 seconds? Two family picnics (and several years) ago, this kid wouldn’t get out of the car and now he’s swearing at folks. Funny thing, I actually wanted to photograph two brothers but didn’t want him to feel left out! HA, silly me!

Since the kids have been gone I’ve been hard @ work updating the site. We have new stock in from Deux par Deux and Bical. Check it out!

There is tons more on the way ~ BLU left Montreal yesterday.

If you have friend looking for great baby clothes and baby shoes. Send them my way … would ya?

To be the next winner (or maybe even win again), you need only leave a comment.

EVERY day in August I’m giving away free prizes (maybe more, but at least one). Just like in the past the winners will be randomly drawn and posted here on the site.

The winners will be able to choose one of any of the prizes listed on the flickr set: Anything Goes in August. Once an item is chosen, it will be removed from flickr and will no longer be available (unless I have two … which I do for some).

All you have to do to win each day’s prize is leave a comment on the most current post.

All prizes are provided by: www.thebabymarketplace.com in conjuction with www.mommyknows.com

Wow! Your family is huge! That is so great. I look forward to my family looking like that some day…

Naomi · August 22, 2007 at 12:50 pm

I was once one of those muttering teenagers…

Deb · August 22, 2007 at 12:53 pm

Dang. Love the two little towheads in the back row riding high on shoulders. Cute!

Corey · August 22, 2007 at 1:16 pm

WOW what a wonderfully successful picnic. :) love the pictures of the oldest and youngest memebers. FUN!

Beth · August 22, 2007 at 1:16 pm

It’s always fun to get together with extended family!

Mrs. Pear · August 22, 2007 at 1:23 pm

I miss our extended family – we are the “distant” relatives at 2000 miles away. We are hoping to have a get together when we are back the end of September. It would sure be nice! As long as none of the nephews swear at me of course!

Charlotte · August 22, 2007 at 1:31 pm

I would love to start organizing a family reunion! What a great idea

Karyne · August 22, 2007 at 1:35 pm

Great pictures. It’s amazing how we change in 91 years (Madison to Eric!)

Damselfly · August 22, 2007 at 1:39 pm

What an amazing picture! Sometimes I forget that families are actually that big … somewhere. Checking out the baby shoes….

Safire · August 22, 2007 at 1:40 pm

What a great shot of family! I can’t wait to see what my family could grow into. :) Enjoy your child free days for awhile!

Jaime Stephens · August 22, 2007 at 2:42 pm

You have a huge family just like us. The generational pictures are the best. I’m happy you had a great get together and also that you’re child free! I can’t remember the last time I had some time to myself.

I can’t wait for the new BLU to arrive in store. I love their clothes!

Teresa · August 22, 2007 at 3:24 pm

That is really neat that so many are in the area and could come together! I must say that ‘uncle eric’ looks AWESOME for his age!!! Have a fun week child free and remember to do something fun for you, don’t use all of your time to get caught up on work and house stuff. :)

Hannah · August 22, 2007 at 3:35 pm

The family picnic looked like great fun! What a big family!!

Enjoy your child-free time … no doubt it will whizz past and you’ll have them back again!

Christina · August 22, 2007 at 3:47 pm

Great turnout! Uncle Eric and Madison are troopers for coming out.

glittersmama · August 22, 2007 at 4:00 pm

Hooray for kid-free time!

Joi · August 22, 2007 at 4:06 pm

I love big families! Awesome picture!! When my great grandfather passed in 2000, there were 7 kids, over 30 grandkids, and over 100 great-grandkids..oh and 20+ great-great grandkids – I would love to know the count now!!

Diane · August 22, 2007 at 4:08 pm

I am so excited for more clothes to arrive.. I would love to see a section devoted to organic clothing so it would be easy to pick out… I’m going over to check it out now!

Carey · August 22, 2007 at 4:21 pm

Hope youre enjoying your time free of kids. Love the family picture, how fun it must have been. I hope to have one done like that someday.

Bree · August 22, 2007 at 4:30 pm

Lisa · August 22, 2007 at 4:45 pm

What a super thing to see all your relatives. Being kid free is fun too! When are the little ones coming home?

Kami · August 22, 2007 at 5:12 pm

Enjoy the quiet…a little green over here :-)

Funny story about the teenager… good thing they grow up and redeem themselves… usually!

PamW · August 22, 2007 at 5:33 pm

Wow that’s a good size turnout! I think multi-generational get togethers are a blast. And the age difference between them all is great.

Paige · August 22, 2007 at 6:13 pm

Oh, how it would be to have no kids for a few days. Enjoy the quiet!

Deb · August 22, 2007 at 6:15 pm

Family get togethers can be so much fun…minus the dysfunction, of course. And that baby is super cute!!

Laura · August 22, 2007 at 6:27 pm

WOW…what a crew. How fun to have an oldest youngest pic…

Amy · August 22, 2007 at 6:38 pm

Hey. I see your kids, your significant other and your mom. But where are you?

serina · August 22, 2007 at 6:58 pm

I love the picture of Uncle Eric. What a face. Beautiful.

Joa · August 22, 2007 at 7:09 pm

Quelle merveilleuse grande famille!

Michelle · August 22, 2007 at 7:10 pm

No kids….. I would love to have a few day alone!!!

Keara · August 22, 2007 at 7:55 pm

Looks like fun!

laura · August 22, 2007 at 7:57 pm

How awesome that so much of your extended family could get together!

alison · August 22, 2007 at 8:02 pm

What a great picture and memories to go with it. I love getting together with extended family . . . if it’s the right side of the family. :-)

Kilikina · August 22, 2007 at 8:32 pm

I’m jealous that you are kid free…..

….and that i haven’t won! LOL

OMSH · August 22, 2007 at 8:41 pm

DANG! Okay, well … our family is about 29, but even though I didn’t count, I’m going to assume this exceeds 29 by a good amount!

haha!

Again – no worries about the winnings. Just wanted to drop my jaw at the family size in my comments.

lace · August 22, 2007 at 8:41 pm

We have just had two large family gatherings this last couple of weeks also. It’s strange, every year I go there are more people I don’t know.

I have also had some child free days. My nieces mom just had a baby so she has been home for most of the last week. What a lot you can accomplish when there are no 3 year olds and 10 month olds around.

Mefeng · August 22, 2007 at 8:59 pm

Wow, that’s the huge family gathering. Looks fun!!

Deanne S. · August 22, 2007 at 9:31 pm

Wow, no kids….my house could actually be clean for a minute!

Kathryn · August 22, 2007 at 9:39 pm

I LOVE that type of family reunion.. and the oldest & youngest pics, how AWESOME! Madison is a beauty

Amanda · August 22, 2007 at 9:55 pm

Uncle Eric’s skin looks so soft and smooth for being 91 years old! What an awesome family gathering.
PS: I love BLU! I was given some BLU clothes when Avelyn was born and they are so unique and hip. Love ’em.

Gayle · August 22, 2007 at 10:39 pm

Awesome work, Kim. Thanks for all your effort.

Cherylyn · August 22, 2007 at 11:04 pm

I love family gatherings! I also love kid holidays, (a break from the beauties) it makes you enjoy them sooo much more when they get back! Plus, my kids always like the break from my incessant rules as well! We all win!

Yan · August 22, 2007 at 11:23 pm

Awesome pictures, I love large families!! I wish we could have more family gatherings like the one you had.

Priya · August 22, 2007 at 11:59 pm

I wished I had such a large family here :o( I envy you but in a good way. Hope you get a good rest with the kids gone. I will definitely refer your website to my friends.

Marcy · August 23, 2007 at 12:41 am

Love Love Love the family picture. “All because two people fell in love”

maddiesmom · August 23, 2007 at 6:14 am

We just had a family get together. So much fun!

Kait · August 23, 2007 at 6:32 am

Your family picnic looks like mine. We have a huge family (complete with grumbling teens).

Alexia · August 23, 2007 at 8:25 am

Ahh, yes, family reunions. My sister was so anti-pictures this year that she hid while we were doing our group shots!

Kid-free is awesome! Enjoy your alone time!

jenB · August 23, 2007 at 10:56 am

A family reunion is my idea of hell. I can’t even imagine how many people would be there, and how many would be drunk.

katie bowen · August 23, 2007 at 11:10 am

i totally agree with jenB’s comment…i always love the “idea” of family gatherins until the night before the event and i realize “what the hell AM I doing?”

jamesie was off at this sitter this morning…i spent the whole time not giving myself a pedicure, reading the paper, or cleaning out the chicken coop..but cleaning the kitchen…how do three people who eat out so much make such a mess?!!! i’m grumpy…but we could totally use another pair of bical shoes…james has worn his out. i do love them though…and the skull and crossbones on them totally fit his “i can climb any tree, just watch me!” personality.

cheers!

Anu · August 23, 2007 at 12:05 pm

Enjoy your kid free time….lovely family!

Nikki · August 23, 2007 at 2:13 pm

I love family get togethers. Looks like everyone was having a good time…or at least good enough to smile for a picture! That’s not always the case with my family :)

carol · August 23, 2007 at 2:51 pm

Relax! Now that you are kid free for a few days.

Diane · August 23, 2007 at 3:22 pm

We used to have family reunions once every 4 years in different parts of Canada… it was a great way to see other parts of the country and so that not the same people are always organizing all of the time!

PamW · August 23, 2007 at 4:46 pm

So how many people are in the picture exactly? I was trying to count but there’s so many it makes me dizzy. About 65 people, right?

Jamie · August 23, 2007 at 7:25 pm

Kid free??? What is this thing of which you speak??

lace · August 23, 2007 at 9:11 pm

I hate to ask this question ….. but……when do the kids come back? I find I love the kid free days for about 3-4 days and then I begin to think I need them here. It has been too long since I have seen, heared, smelled, or cleaned up after them.

Deb · August 23, 2007 at 10:03 pm

Kid free…I can only imagine. I think the first thing I would do is groceries or something totally regular that I would not be able to do by myself.

PamW · August 23, 2007 at 10:07 pm

Kid free…it your mom willing to take other people’s kids on a short term basis? I could use a break!

Marla · August 24, 2007 at 6:02 am

I LOVE your store….the bath toy I got for my grandson’s first birthday is sooooo cute ~ we love the way the fish swim in its stomach! Don’t know how you can afford to offer such great prices, either :)

Jaime Stephens · August 24, 2007 at 9:51 am

Just adding that I hadn’t realized that Madison was only 6 days old in that picture. She looks so big! I miss having babies around the house!

Susy-Q · August 24, 2007 at 11:05 am

And I thought I had a big family!! Family reunions are great. Enjoy the quiet!

Laura · August 24, 2007 at 2:02 pm

Our family had a much smaller version of your party last Saturday. It was a lot of fun, but I felt (with trying to keep an eye on 3 young ones… not enough eyes) that I didn’t get a chance to really visit with everyone there.
And that was with 8 adults, 4 kids. I can’t imagine getting around to a group THAT size!

lace · August 24, 2007 at 2:10 pm

Where are you in the photo? After reveling your face to the internet I imagined I would be able to find you in the crowd. Not possible. I think I can see some of your family. Georgia in the back on top of someones shoulders? (Her father?) Sam and Lizzy up front? Nope, can’t find you. Are you taking the picture?

ness · August 24, 2007 at 8:28 pm

How cool to have all your family together.

Diane · August 24, 2007 at 10:46 pm

I just received my skully boy shoes… they are so cute!! thanks again!

Wahoo · October 6, 2007 at 2:49 am
