This post is very late, I had data-base issues today. Not good … very, very bad timing.

Oh, well … shit stuff happens.

We had a great camping trip, the scenery was beautiful and the company even better. Here’s a couple of pics to give you an idea of the great views!

Helmcken Falls
WOW ~ How nice is this? I kept thinking it was something you might see in Lord of the Rings!

NO! GEORGIA!
When I wasn’t gawking @ the scenery, I was busy keeping Georgia from plunging to her untimely death! Sheesh … two year olds are hard work!

This might be a good time to answer the camera questions: I have a Nikon D70. The camera and I have a love/hate relationship. I love the pictures that I can take, but I hate the weight around my neck. It is a fairly large cumbersome camera … but the results, well I guess they are worth it.

I have a couple of longer posts started but MUST get orders processed (nearly caught up) and out the door before I play (yes, this blog is what I do for fun – I need to get a life).

See the previous post for the first seven winners of August.

To be the next winner (or maybe even win again), you need only leave a comment. Today, I want to know the most beautiful place you’ve ever visited. If you happen to be the one and only person never to venture out side of their home EVER and you can’t think of even one nice spot, then I suggest you shut off your computer now, go outside and come back and comment when you’ve seen something you like!

***
EVERY day in August I’m giving away free prizes (maybe more), but at least one. Just like in the past the winners will be randomly drawn and posted here on the site.

The winners will be able to choose one of any of the prizes listed on the flickr set: Anything Goes in August. Once an item is choosen, it will be removed from flickr and will no longer be available (unless I have two … which I do for some).

All you have to do to win each day’s prize is leave a comment on the most current post.

All prizes are provided by: www.thebabymarketplace.com in conjuction with www.mommyknows.com

corey · August 7, 2007 at 11:42 pm

Welcome back. I wondered where you went. eeekkkkk it was a long time. I am glad you had so much fun.
I’d say the prettiest place I have seen is Kauai n hawaii. heavenly! :)

Kait · August 8, 2007 at 4:44 am

Wow, that waterfall is beautiful! We love going to Carolina Beach near Wrightsville, NC. The water is a clear green/blue like you’d find in the Bahamas. You’d never know you were in the Atlantic!

Carey · August 8, 2007 at 5:55 am

Wow, what a gorgeous view. I would love to see it in person.

MommyKnows says: Helmcken Falls, Wells Grey Provincial Park, BC, Canada

Heather · August 8, 2007 at 5:56 am

Wow! That waterfall picture has to be one of the most beautiful, breathtaking sights I’ve ever seen!

The most beautiful place I’ve ever been is probably to the waterfall on the beach in Jamaica where they filmed a scene from a James Bond movie. It was just amazing!

Mama K · August 8, 2007 at 6:00 am

Wow! That picture almost looks fake it’s so pretty!

Bermuda is by far the most beautiful place I’ve been… pink sands and turquoise water… ahhh!

Marla · August 8, 2007 at 6:15 am

Most beautiful spot I have ever visited is Goderich, Ontario. There is a spot where you go around a curve and are on a hill with scenery that will take your breath away.

leslie · August 8, 2007 at 7:26 am

…moraine lake lodge in the rockies..JUST like a postcard….

MommyKnows says: this is one of my favourites too!

Christina · August 8, 2007 at 7:38 am

I agree about Kauai, but I was there on a cloudy day. Top mainland spot – Lake Tahoe.

Cherylyn · August 8, 2007 at 8:12 am

I live in Alberta, the beautiful spots are so numerous, I LOVE the ink pots in Banff national park, the beginning of a thunderstorm over sunripened wheat field, the river valley outside of Bezanson in the Fall, (one of the few places I’ve seen red leaves in AB), hoarfrost on the forest, the Ledge in the winter after a fresh snow. Why would one need to travel?

hmama · August 8, 2007 at 8:22 am

Georgian Bay.

Susy-Q · August 8, 2007 at 8:26 am

Definitely Koh Lipe in Thailand. Small island in the middle of nowhere surrounded by coral reefs. Need I say more?

Julie · August 8, 2007 at 8:29 am

It’s hard for me to choose one place! The first place that comes to mind is Byron Bay, Australia. Beautiful sandy beaches and the lovely warm ocean!

Naomi · August 8, 2007 at 9:31 am

unbelievably beautiful!

my prettiest place would be Kauai, too, but I haven’t been since high school. I also love Vancouver. Rain forests are the best!

Deanne S. · August 8, 2007 at 9:36 am

I have to agree that the Canadian Rockies are truly amazing! The Grand Canyon is pretty interesting too though….

Safire · August 8, 2007 at 9:48 am

The prettiest thing I’ve seen! I miss the mountains…

Jamie · August 8, 2007 at 9:54 am

Kakabeka Falls near Thunder Bay Ontario. It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL there!

lace · August 8, 2007 at 9:55 am

I absolutely loved Savannah, Georgia. The beautiful buildings and wrought iron all over the place. They also have 24 green parks throughout the historic district called squares. Enormous large oaks line the streets. It is just beautiful. Oh my, I sound like a travel agent!

Magi · August 8, 2007 at 10:24 am

I’ll admit that I’ve been to some very beautiful places. The first one that comes to mind is the gardens behind the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. We went there for our honeymoon in the summer of 2000. We planned to go back this summer, but it didn’t work out. We’ll be going next year instead.

Kami · August 8, 2007 at 10:29 am

I have seen some fanastic sights, I love Northern Saskatchewan lakes complete with melencholy loon calls. There is something so serene about the sunset, the loon calls and the pristine scenery that does it for me everytime.

Glad you had a nice trip, that waterfall is gorgeous. Great picture!

Buhtafly · August 8, 2007 at 10:40 am

Your pictures are just awe inspiring! They are so beautiful! The picture with the waterfall looks almost unreal! I bet it was just breathtaking to be there!

Diane · August 8, 2007 at 10:44 am

The most beautiful place I’ve ever been is Rick’s Cafe in Jamaica. It is on top of the cliffs with water all around you can cliff dive, there is a pool up top and a great restaurant with a live band. I forgot my camera that day but I will probably go back to Jamaica just for that!

Karyne · August 8, 2007 at 10:56 am

The beach in Jamaica was the most beautiful place I’ve been!

Mrs. Pear · August 8, 2007 at 11:35 am

The waterfall picture is too much! I love it!

Mimi · August 8, 2007 at 11:41 am

Hummm… so many nice places so little time…

Na Pali Trail, Kauai
Whitsundays Islands, Australia
The beaches on PEI
The trails on Vancouver Island

Jaime Stephens · August 8, 2007 at 12:04 pm

The most beautiful place I’ve visited is Sloquet Hot Springs in BC. It is absolutely amazing there, and so relaxing to lie in the semi-developed hotspring and listen to the creek roaring past. Its especially nice when you head in mid week and are the only people there. both girls love soaking in the tub… and having the tubs to soak in are so nice after the very long drive in there on a logging road. We head up there a couple times a year as we just can’t get enough.

The scenery on your trip looks amazing! I’ll be sure to show dh and let him know that we want to go there next trip!

Montserrat · August 8, 2007 at 12:09 pm

That top photo is GORGEOUS! The mist gives it a ethereal feel. The most beautiful place I’ve been in the woods around my girlhood home in Georgia, especially in the fall.

Andy · August 8, 2007 at 12:49 pm

The first picture is ”magnifique”! Wow!!

Hard to tell… the most beautiful place I visited…hummm

I only have a top 3 ;)
Irazu volcano, Costa Rica
Beaches of Bretagne, France
St-Lawrence river sunset, Québec… a 15 minutes walk from my house :)

Priya · August 8, 2007 at 1:05 pm

Great pics…The most beautiful places visited was Yellowstone & the Grand Tetons National parks.

Laura · August 8, 2007 at 1:23 pm

Besides the Rockies, I enjoyed visiting Nelson, BC when I was a teen. Maybe my memory is skewed, but it just seemed like the most beautiful little town. We hiked up the escarpment and saw the view from a lookout peak… awesome! It’s always stayed with me!

alison · August 8, 2007 at 3:03 pm

Acadia National Park in Maine. Hands down.

Teresa · August 8, 2007 at 3:55 pm

Well, the most beautiful place for me is the Oregon coast on a sunny day. There is just something about the ocean, the fact that it is untouched by our commercial society. I think a close second would be St. Martin, such clear oceans and blue skies. Looks like you had a great time, love the pics!

jw4mkc · August 8, 2007 at 3:58 pm

WOW!! That is an amazing site! I would love to see that.. and HOLY COW – I am deathly afraid of heights – I would die if the girls were climbing like that – I see what you mean by preventing her from plunging to her death.. Sheesh!

It is a toss up between our vacation to the Grand Canyon & Colorado (the mountains) and Zion National Park and the Caddo River Boat tours – All three were amazing.. but probably the most “aww struck” one was Zion National Park!

MonaB · August 8, 2007 at 4:55 pm

Postcard perfect pictures. I have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful places all over the world but the most favorite stop would be Rome Italy for the sites and Labedee Haiti were my husband and I went to as one of our stops on our honeymoon cruise. White sands and clear blue ocean water that you could see for miles.

Heather · August 8, 2007 at 5:40 pm

My favorite place so far has been Oahu, Hawaii…beautiful beaches, waterfalls, mountains…we just saw so many breathtaking sites there (despite its touristy reputation!).

Paula · August 8, 2007 at 6:13 pm

Sounds like you had a great time! My favourite place would have to Quebec City.

Cathy · August 8, 2007 at 7:04 pm

Gorgeous!!!! The top photo is just unreal! Glad your back…

cathy

Nikki · August 8, 2007 at 7:12 pm

I haven’t travelled much but I love driving over the Logans Pass in the fall when the trees are all turning colors. It’s gorgeous!

Alexia · August 8, 2007 at 7:29 pm

The most beautiful place I’ve ever visited is probably the park near our home. LOL I’m a hermit!

Lisa · August 8, 2007 at 7:31 pm

Your pictures are awesome. The most beautiful place I went on vacation to was lake Cumberland Ky. We went on a house boat and it was a new gorgeous view everyday. Great trip with a 2 year old he just played in the hot tub or went down the water slide all day:)

glittersmama · August 8, 2007 at 7:43 pm

Are you sure that you don’t photoshop your pictures to make the colors more vibrant? I can’t believe how beautiful that waterfall picture is!

Mommyknows says: I do so use photoshop!

Damselfly · August 8, 2007 at 8:37 pm

The most beautiful place I’ve ever visited is St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Two-thirds of the island is a U.S. national park, and on the approach to the island by ferry, you see mostly just green peaks rising out of the clear, pale blue sea. The water is amazing! The southwestern part of the island is drier and still beautiful.

I love love love that waterfall shot!

Skydazzler · August 8, 2007 at 9:11 pm

The most beautiful place I visited is Triberg, Germany in the Black Forest. It was so beautiful with tall evergreen trees, rolling lush green hills, dotted with red tiled villages snuggled tightly in and around the mountains. A surprising and breathtaking scene around every turn in the road. You gotta go! :-) Your pictures are stunning! The waterfalls almost look like they are moving.

Angella · August 8, 2007 at 10:02 pm

Sorry I haven’t been around. That shot of the waterfall is AMAZING!! And yes, two-year-olds are a handful :)

laura · August 9, 2007 at 12:32 am

I have a tie for the beautiful place question. Oban, Scotland, where we were married, and the Great Ocean Road in Australia. Very different, but both lovely and amazing!

Julie · August 9, 2007 at 8:14 am

I thought of another beautiful place – the fiordlands in New Zealand! Very rainy but lots of gorgeous waterfalls and lush landscapes!

Heather · August 9, 2007 at 10:01 am

Architecturally, I just love Washington, D.C. When we walked through the historic sections outside and in, I just marveled at the beauty humans can construct (though it pales in comparison to the beauty God makes, it’s still neat).

Safire · August 9, 2007 at 12:19 pm

Feeling bored online and thought I’d come and enjoy that waterfall shot again…ahhh! Peace!

Charlotte · August 9, 2007 at 1:43 pm

The most beautiful place that I have every been was on my honeymoon in the Myanriviera. The water there is so blue!

Ness · August 9, 2007 at 3:26 pm

Looks like a fun trip. I would have to say Italy is my favorite spot. It’s beautiful.

lace · August 9, 2007 at 3:36 pm

Let’s see do I have another favorite spot? Hmmm.

Still thinking……

Well I know of a spot I would love to visit but have not been there. The Redwood Forests. I would love to see those ginormous trees.

Oh, I just thought of a beautiful place. Old Town, San Diego CA. Beautiful buildings and the weather there is wonderful.

Jaime Stephens · August 9, 2007 at 5:27 pm

My 2nd choice of a beautiful place is Sugar Lake, its so relaxing. How is it that since I became a Mom that relaxing also translates into beautiful?…lol.

Yan · August 9, 2007 at 5:59 pm

Wow, beautiful picture, we have to go head that way next time for sure.
My favorite spot is the resort and beach in Cuba we went for our honeymoon, it was so blue and clean, the sand was so fine… Just beautiful !!

Paula · August 9, 2007 at 6:19 pm

My second fav spot would have to be San Diego!

Lisa · August 9, 2007 at 7:40 pm

My second favorite spot is Higgins lake Mi. It is the 7th most beautiful lake in the world. It is 200 feet deep in some places and you can look down and see the bottom. It has great camp grounds though you need to make reservations 6 months in advance.

jenB · August 9, 2007 at 7:51 pm

Maligne Canyon in Jasper. Not in the full on winter though. I do love a good city line as well, and Chicago is fabulous for that.

MommyKnows says: LOVE Maligne Canyon … went up to Maligne Lake on Monday. Will post pictures soon.

Diane · August 9, 2007 at 11:14 pm

Another beautiful thing to see was the bioluminescense bay in Vieques, Puerto Rico… the microorganisms glow in the water when a disturbance occurs… it was beautiful to kayak into the sunset and see that naturally occuring phenomenon.

Paige · August 10, 2007 at 9:12 am

Arches National Park in Moab, Utah is pretty gorgeous. have you been there? Breathtaking.

Paige · August 10, 2007 at 9:13 am

And Niagra Falls is quite impressive, too.

Dana · August 10, 2007 at 3:47 pm

Glacier Park in Montana has always been my favorite
