Toy Tuesday Giveaway – $250 Gift Card to Overstock

TOY_TUESDAY_590x109_1
If your kids are like mine, their holiday wish-lists and my wish-lists for them are never quite the same.

I wanted to make Georgia a handmade waldorf style baby doll. I showed her many, many photos and tried to talk her into it, but she’s firmly convinced that she wants this doll.

Little Mommy Doll
The Little Mommy Walk & Giggle Doll needs tender loving care. Little girls can nurture, play and help the doll take her very first big girl steps. Try to keep up as the Little Mommy Walk & Giggle Doll goes from sitting, to standing, to walking. This doll also loves to play peek-a-boo, drink from her bottle and take her puppy pull toy for a walk.

I remember ‘always’ wanting a Baby Alive and never getting one, so I am putting my love of natural aside and Little Mommy Walk & Giggle will have place under the tree.

For Sam and Lizzy, I’d love to buy them artistic and creative toys lovingly handcrafted in wood that promise to get them using their imaginations and increase brain power. Instead they’ve both listed these on the very tops of their lists:

Nintendo DSi
The new Nintendo DSi is a high-powered hand-held video game system in a sleek, folding design — loaded with powerful features like touch screen control for a unique gaming experience. Snap great photos with the built-in camera, edit and send them to friends, play back your music with Nintendo DSi Sound, or browse the Internet with the Nintendo DSi Browser. From playing games to just playing around, the Nintendo DSi does it all.

Who am I to crush dreams? If the truth be told, I’d like to turn my own DS in for one of these New DSi’s. Anyone who’s ever been on a road trip with kids knows that Nintendo DSi’s save lives. REALLY MommyKnows!

This year, I am making my life easy. I’m going to do the bulk of my Christmas shopping online. I’ll buy the toys above at Toys “R” Us.

Toy Tuesday
On December 8, Bill Me Later is hosting “Toy Tuesday”. Visit www.toytuesday.com to find great deals on the holiday’s most wanted toys and gifts from leading retailers such as Toys “R” Us, Walmart.com, Step 2, Little Tikes, eToys, Drugstore.com, FAO Schwarz, HP, Overstock.com, MacMall, Mercantila and more.

angie · December 3, 2009 at 5:05 am

While I do not have my own children, I am very close to my nephew. All he is wanting this year is that big t-rex toy that walks and roars…not sure who makes it but it costs like $75 or more. Not sure if Santa will bring him a gift that pricey or not!

Kim · December 3, 2009 at 5:35 am

my kiddo has some puzzles on his wish list! :) And some books.

cwaltz · December 3, 2009 at 5:53 am

My kids have not really had the “I wants” this year. They are getting older and I think they are more aware of the financial environment and they seem to realize that having your needs filled(food, clothing, shelter) is a gift and is precarious for many people in this country(I’d be thrilled if picked to donate to our local action center). My youngest has asked for a Nintendo(not the DSi)DS to play the pokemon games on that he has and wants.(Santa is able to get it for him thanks to a 20/20 focus group I participated in.) The second youngest wants a World of Zoo for the Wii. He also asked that any money left over go for a better TV(ours is a thrift store purchase). My daughter is a teenager and after much pondering has asked if possible to pick her up a video camera. I’m still dithering over it though because the ones in my price range seem to have mixed reviews. I’d rather get her something that lasts(particularly if we are looking at an over $100 price tag). My oldest will likely be getting an Ipod. He didn’t ask for a single thing. He said he was happy with the comforter he got last year as a gift. This is his last year of Christmas as a child I want to get him something big and something durable that he can utilize for several years if he heads out onto his own. Anyway, this is a really nice giveaway. Thanks for sponsoring it.

My big kids want a road bike (already bought) and some fancy electric razor. Now the grandbabies have such a LIST LOL. The girls want the Zhu Zhu pets and I knew I should have bought them a long time ago. Oh well. Next on their list is a Barbie dollhouse (one of the big ones) and some new barbies. The oldest girlie really wants a drawing thing that you can hook up to the television and the youngest wants a truck (yep she is a tomboy) but she really wants a pink truck.

The oldest boy want a telescope and the youngest wants an electric guitar. They both want guitar hero. They also want some nerf guns.

Thanks so much for the giveaway!

This Bill Me Later sounds very interesting and I’m definitely will check it out. To me it has always been very important to ensure that my children have a good Christmas even if I go broke giving it to them. Bill Me Later sounds like a better option. On my kids wish list this Christmas is a Didj, Legos (Star wars), Step 2 Kitchen, Nerf and a Play Station 3. I’m glad that money is going to charity as I know that this has been a hard year for a lot of people. I have been very fortunate.

dd#2 keyboard
dd#3 doll & stroller
Me: a watch. :)

Right after Christmas last year we pulled into a parking lot beside a van that had a John Deere Gator strapped to the top. My grandson saw the Gator and of course his first response was “I want it Nanny”. I explained that it didn’t belong to him and he couldn’t have it. He was fine with that but all through the store he kept saying he wanted one of them ‘tractors’. I told him he would have to be a very good little boy and maybe Santa would bring him one for Christmas ‘next’ year, which is now this Christmas. Lil Man hasn’t forgotten about that. The only thing he is asking for is a John Deere Tractor and he is referring to the Gator. I think that’s what Santa has in mind too! :-)

mytwogirls · December 3, 2009 at 8:50 am

My 8 year old daughter has asked for a webkinz. Her list this year is all about gifts for others, as she has asked Santa to bring her dad a job that he likes (he will be laid off at the end of Dec), for her little sister to be happy and ‘project materials'(craft supplies) for me. She is acutely aware of the financial situation although she believes that Santa will still come through with some surprises! My almost two year old has not asked for anything – she is only just learning about Christmas this year – but she loves Maisy and I think Santa might bring her the Maisy ABC book.

Ashley · December 3, 2009 at 9:01 am

Our girls are still too little to have “wishlists” yet but somehow my wishlist for them is larger than I think most greedy 10 year olds. Not that I’m feeling greedy for them but rather, everywhere I look there is something precious that they would love to play with. Good thing for my wallet and my husband we have a very strict Christmas budget :)

Sarah H · December 3, 2009 at 9:02 am

My kids want walkie talkies! I think it sounds great.

Aura · December 3, 2009 at 9:05 am

My 6 year old loves books so he’s getting a pile of ones he chose, my daughter is getting the fisher price stroller walker and my baby son is getting a car raceway

Karyn · December 3, 2009 at 9:15 am

Both of my kids (ages 6 and 3) asked for a Wii and the Toy Story Mania game to go with it. Unfortunatley, we will not be able to afford the Wii, so it would be great to win this giveaway! Thanks for offering this giveaway — it’s even better that there will also be a donation to a charity! Something else that I would love to be able to do, but just don’t have the funds for!

Madeline · December 3, 2009 at 9:18 am

Levi would love to have a car or tractor…as in the real thing. Unfortunately for him he’ll have to settle for something smaller and more age appropriate like a set of blocks and some books.

I LOVE this giveaway!!!! Bill-Me-Later is awesome and has helped tremendously the past 2 years to help give my kids a good Christmas.

This year my 8 year old is asking for games for her Nintendo DS lite, A Zhu Zhu Pet (which i don’t think shes going to get) and a new camera since her sister threw hers in the bath tub.

My 2 year old wants a new baby doll, and a doll stroller. And a play kitchen.

And my 1 year old would go crazy for some trucks that go zoooooom!!!

judy brittle · December 3, 2009 at 9:40 am

My grandkids are asking for the talking dump truck,Barbie, word search puzzles
anything Dora,a robe, arts & crafts and a few other things. I was really surprised with their lists this year as they didn’t ask for anything high priced. With 9 grandkids this will make it a lot easier on the budget. Thank you for this awesome chance!

Amy Winkel · December 3, 2009 at 9:47 am

My daughter wants sculpting clay this year. Anything artistic will male her happy. The boys would love… hmmm, I don’t even know. They haven’t mentioned anything! -but they love playing games on the computer so anything like that would be a safe bet.

Marina Hentz · December 3, 2009 at 9:51 am

My almost 3-year old daughter has made it clear that she wants hair ties, make up, and a new hair brush. Let’s just say the hair ties and hair brush will be under the tree without the makeup!

One Scrappy Gal · December 3, 2009 at 9:57 am

My little klutz of a princess is dying for a pogo stick for Christmas. Since she is as graceful as a frog in the midst of a full blown seizure…I bought her one of the “safe” ones that is easier to balance on. If she wants the regular one next year, she will have to prove to me she won’t kill herself on this one. She has also asked for a ball on behalf of her autistic brother and a tiny tv for the baby. Which are all things they won’t care about or be excited so I will have to be creative and do some mommy thinking!! What would *I* want if I was one of the boys? Food. Paper to tear. Hair to pull. That was easy.

Kimberly/Mom in the City · December 3, 2009 at 10:01 am

My sons both want a Hungry, Hungry Hippo.

Jennifer Cole · December 3, 2009 at 10:03 am

I don’t have my own kids, but for my 1.5 yr old niece we will probably get something practical like warm clothes as her parents are young and very broke. My 2.5 yr old nephew LOVES wood trains and puzzles made out of wood and I’d love to keep that going as long as possible, so probably some cool puzzle made out of wood.

Amanda Starr · December 3, 2009 at 10:07 am

My daughter wants a cute kitty keyboard, skelanimal tee, Littlest Pet Shop animals and dogs…anything to do with dogs. (She knows we are bloke so didn’t ask for much which is sweet and sad)

My daughter, Paige wants a kitchen and a baby doll and stroller. My son, Johnny (who having his birthday today!) wants a DSi. He has a DS, and after several years of major use, it’s gone to gaming heaven. LOL

I’d agree with you, they are a major lifesaver on roadtrips!

This is such a wonderful giveaway!!! The fact that a charity is going to be receiving $500 is awesome.

As for my son’s Christmas list … he simply asked for Santa to fix one of his matchbox cars that recently lost 2 wheels. That is it. Can you believe it? Now Daddy’s Christmas list … that is a whole other story!

Thank you for this great giveaway. I look forward to seeing who wins :)

My sdaughter really wants a digital camera. There are so many to choose from! Wish me luck finding the right one.

Erica · December 3, 2009 at 12:18 pm

Ugh, I have 4 kids clamoring for things.

DS(4) loves all things Super Why and dinosaurs (but dinosaurs that *don’t* make noise – those freak him out) and maybe some Yo Gabba Gabba stuff.

DD(4) wants a Nintendo DS to be like her brother and sister (which I don’t *really* want to buy b/c the inlaws are on the verge of catering to the older one & his practically-new DS will filter down) and an apron (one like her sister’s or one with owls).

DD(6) wants the newest Littlest Pet Shop game for the Wii (already bought and wrapped – socre ONE for Mommy) and a laptop like Mommy’s (Dream on, kid!!).

DD(11) – aka ‘The Only One Who Admits to Knowing the Truth’ – is pushing his luck. An Xbox 360 for his room (we already have one!!). A flat-screen TV. A DSi. 6,000 games for the Xbox. His own Xbox Live account so he doesn’t ‘have to’ use Daddy’s. Again I say – DREAM ON, KID!

My list is chock-a-block full of photography gear. The husband’s contains a laptop. None of these things will be bought. Our Christmas comes about a month or so later when we get our tax refund!

Some day when they all know the truth, I want to start doing destination Christmases, where the big present will be the trip and there can be a couple things to open in the AM, but mostly, we’ll be making memories together. I wish I could afford to go away AND fill lists now, but I can’t.

Now that my 2 oldest kids are ‘tweens’ it has become increasingly difficult to shop for them. They have both asked for an MP3 player, my daughter wants a camera, my oldest wants every video game known to man kind and the toddler, he doesn’t care as long as it makes noise, plays music or features Elmo.

But I can see him after a long day of rollerblading crawling in to the hotub and watching a Very Merry SpongeBob Christmas special with his wife… :)
