TJ the World’s Best Cat

Published by on

If you would have asked me 15 months ago, I would have told you that I didn’t like cats. I thought they were unfriendly, and a bit too predator like. I was convinced if I were a lot smaller and they were a bigger, they’d be happy to have me for a snack (this may still be true).

Then one summer afternoon, my very brave twelve year old stashed a seven week old kitten in her purse at a rodeo (someone was giving away barn kittens) and a stow-away kitty was born.

With both Mr. MK and I being a bit allergic, and me disliking cats; having one of our own has never been an option. I wouldn’t have even considered it. However, once a cute little fur-ball is hanging out in your house, it just doesn’t seem that bad. Even a cat ‘dis-liker’ like me could appreciate the cuteness of a kitten.

To make a long story short (it’s not too often I do that). Stow-away Kitty stayed and is named TJ (dumb name, I tried to call him Rupert, but no one went for it). He’s kind, fun, smart and sweet (really, really sweet).

He’s made me a cat-liker. So much so that I sometimes browse Kijiji ads looking for more kittens to adopt, then the booze wears off and I come to my senses (kidding about the booze!).

How about you, are you a cat-liker?

Haha! I love cats too. Never thought I would own one again though, also because of allergies. BUT, we’re on an acreage, and I am NOT so particular about mice, so we have !!2!! cats. They live in our HEATED garage, but I still get to love’em up. They get their yearly shots and vet checkups, and they eat store-bought cat food (and probably some of their hunted “treasures”….yuck!). I suppose they are kind of like “urbanized” barn cats! Love them!!

If ever reincarnated into another form, I think I would choose a cat. The languid, instant grace they have, the physical capacity to do so many things, to have a suggestive tail, one that does more than just wag like a dog’s crazy poker tell. And to purr. Yes, to purr.
