Son of a Beach!

Published by on

Are you sick of my holiday photo’s yet? This blog is like your great-Aunties slide show … only worse, because this goes on for STINKIN’ days. Sheesh! You’d think I’d never seen an ocean or taken a vacation before.

Sorry! This beach was so fanfrickentastic, I HAVE to share. It wouldn’t be right not to.

Queen Charlotte Islands - North Beach
It went on for miles and miles and miles. There wasn’t another soul to be seen. This is Yakan Pt. North Beach, Queen Charlotte Islands.

It wasn’t just deserted, because it’s remote location; it’s also part of an Indian Reserve that doesn’t allow trespassers. Unfortunately, we missed that BIG RED BOLD lettered sign directly in front of our parking spot, because Mr. MK and I were busy fighting (:( Sigh). Thankfully, we weren’t discovered and kicked off the beach. We felt pretty stupid, when we got back to the car though!

Starfish
Yakan Pt. is where I found this pretty little starfish.

Queen Charlotte Islands - Yakan Pt
Apparently, it’s also the spot where Gilligan, the skipper et al. were stranded – HA. It makes for a pretty picture though.
Queen Charlotte Islands
The kids had a great time too! Due to the fact that it was only about 15c (60f). We went to the beached unprepared to swim. That didn’t last long! I think Lizzy is already down to her underwear in this picture.

Queen Charlotte Islands
The REAL fun started when some genius (psst. it’s the same guy who parked next to the NO TRESPASSING sign) decided to bury his son with 30lbs of wet sand. Remember, we have no swimsuits … no dry clothes. I have to say it, “HELLO McFLY”!

Queen Charlotte Islands
Of course Georgia had to throw on her handful of sand …

Queen Charlotte Islands
It’s too bad she threw it on his face.

Queen Charlotte Islands
Don’t worry Sam, I’ll get it off!

Queen Charlotte Islands
Way to go Lizzy … sandy water! Sorry son, mom can’t help … I’m taking pictures.

Queen Charlotte Islands
Dad to the rescue (don’t forget … he started it all).

Queen Charlotte Islands
Ah … that’s better!

Queen Charlotte Islands
Much better!

Queen Charlotte Islands
Come on Sam, I’ll help you wash off!

All’s well that ends well.

MK xo

Wow, that beach is so beautiful … no wonder they want to keep it private. I’m guessing they see their only choices as (i) deserted or (ii) developed to the point of extinction with ugly hotels, bars, clubs, etc etc.

Very envious of you … we rarely get to go somewhere that quiet and lovely.

What a gorgeous beach! No surprise that it’s off-limits to the public.

Beautiful beach… looks like you guys had a great time. I imagine there are cultural reasons why the beach is closed to outsiders… either that or it is one of the areas earmarked for off shore drilling. 2 totally opposite realms. Being the hippy chick I am I hope for the first one.

How are little Georgia’s feet?

I adore your pictures and the captions! We don’t travel much and I am vicariously living through your lovely photos. I think I would have gotten claustrophobic under the sand like your son was. Cindi

Wonderful! That beach is absolutely beautiful. If I had been there, I’d of been wondering where everyone was.

Did you bring along that giant shovel? Much bigger than your average sand/beach shovel.

That big red star looks sweet, haven’t ever actually seen one up close. Do the arms move around or do they just stay bent like that?

Looks like you got a bit of Chinese water torture going on in there(dropping water on the forehead). lol
