Friday afternoon I received a shipment of these really cool WALLIES® Peel & Stick Chalkboards for www.thebabymarketplace.com. Sam was really excited about it and asked if he could have one. I told him that he could, but he’d have to wait. Then I went outside to finish a photo shoot with Georgia.

Just a few minutes later, I ran back in the house to find that Sam had decided to go ahead and open his WALLIES®. I was annoyed and told him in no uncertain terms to put the darn things away and start behaving. The last thing I wanted was WALLIES® Peel & Stick Chalkboards stuck haphazardly around the house! The conversation was short, but not sweet; and off I went to take more pictures.

When I came in a little later, I found this waiting for me …

I love you too ....
For those of you not proficient in 7 year old scrawl, it says: You are the best mom ever. NOT.

I burst out laughing! BWAHAHAHA …

I have just one word for you Sam –> CHRISTMAS!

Rocktober Baby! (Marketplace) is going to be a fun month! I am continuing the give-aways with yet another twist –> this month instead of a prize-per-day, there will be a prize-per-post. Some days all you’ll have to do is comment, other days you’ll have to jump through hoops!

Have you received any nice or naughty notes from your kids? Did you ever leave one for your mom? I want to hear about them …

EVERY post in October Rocktober I’m giving away a free prize (maybe more, but at least one). Just like in the past the winners will be randomly drawn and posted here on the site.

The winner(s) will be able to choose one of any of the prizes listed on the flickr set: Rocktober Baby! (Marketplace). Once an item is chosen, it will be removed from flickr and will no longer be available (unless I have two … which I do for some).

All prizes are provided by: www.thebabymarketplace.com in conjuction with www.mommyknows.com

I was always too much of a wimp to actually write down the “you’re the worst mom in the world” thoughts, and my baby just turned one, so I’m still waiting on the notes I’ll receive.

When I was 4 I wrote: “Jesus Loves Me” and “I love Jesus” on my grandmother’s cabinets and told her my 6 mo. old sister did it.. Needless to say – I didn’t get in trouble because of what I wrote!

My cousin colored a MURAL!! huge one on my other grandmother’s wall and when she went to get on to him, he took her hand, led her infront of the mural and said “Look Nene, aint it perty!” – He got the same punishment I did.. :)

I remember writing a poem once when I got sent to my room. It talked about how it wasnt fair, I always get yelled at, nobody cares…something about running away and living in a foam doam (It had to rhyme with something..haha) ohh the 8 year old DRAMA! haha I still have the poem somewhere!

Kilikina · October 15, 2007 at 10:42 am

No, I guess I didn’t really have either. I suppose that I would send nice notes to my parents sometimes. When they argued I’d sent them things to tell them how much I loved them.

(They were just regular ole arguments but all my friends parents were divorcing, I guess I was scared mine would. Never did. Thank the Lord!)

lace · October 15, 2007 at 10:48 am

I used to write about how I was mad at people (family members, friends) and then tear up the paper and throw it away so that nobody would be able to read the things I wrote. It was very theraputic without hurting anyones feelings.

Kait · October 15, 2007 at 10:49 am

That is hilarious! Luckily my kids aren’t old enough to write yet! I don’t remember ever getting mad and writing notes to my mom. But my sister sure did!

Montserrat · October 15, 2007 at 11:50 am

I was cleaning my daughter’s room the other day and found another daughter’s “Book of Unfairness”. She was keeping track of all the times she thought I was being unfair to her. It was quite a laugh really. She only had two entries. So at least it wasn’t all filled up!

maddiesmom · October 15, 2007 at 11:51 am

Kids are funny! My daughter is too young to write…and I don’t remember writing a note to my parents.

Alexia · October 15, 2007 at 11:57 am

I never wrote notes, good or bad, to may parents….if I was mad I just let them know right then and there, verbally LOL

My boys are still too young to write me anything, but their already old enough to scream :D

Naomi · October 15, 2007 at 12:53 pm

You might need to keep that and frame it for when he’s older…

Hannah · October 15, 2007 at 1:00 pm

Haha, that is so funny!!!

My mum has a HUGE box full of the letters and notes I used to write her. Not all of them are bad, most of them are nice. But I remember I used to say things like “I know you love Leah more than me. You say you don’t, but I know the truth.”
Once I left a note at the top of the stairs (mum was downstairs) after I’d been told off. I said “I’m going to mope about this for a really, really long time. So don’t tell me to cheer up because I won’t!!”

Deb · October 15, 2007 at 1:37 pm

ha! I loved it! What I love is that you have a sense of humour. I would have been terrified of my mom’s reaction if I did that as a kid. My daughters are too young to write yet.
You sure got a great shot though!

Jenny M · October 15, 2007 at 1:42 pm

I wrote a note to my mom even when Im mad at you I stil love you.

She gave it back to me when we flew to Korea together to bring home our first son=)

Jaime Stephens · October 15, 2007 at 2:06 pm

My 2.5 year old daughter decided she was mad at me and ala Max & Ruby made a stay out sign for her door. It was cute and I saved it…. and boy did we get a good laugh out of that!

Happy Geek · October 15, 2007 at 2:16 pm

I’m sure I did write some nasty notes, can’t say I remember them specifically, my kids are too young yet, but I certain there will come a day, I did get lots teaching though, my personal fave was an “annonoymous’ note (it was a small private school, I knew everyone’s handwriting that I taught) that claimed I wouldn’t know fairness or good teaching if I ran into it. He used words like incompetant, unfit to teach on and on.
I got the last laugh however, last I heard the phrase he now utters the most is “would you like fries with that?”

Marcy · October 15, 2007 at 2:53 pm

HA HA you need to keep that. Great story to tell in the future.

Diane · October 15, 2007 at 3:01 pm

that is hilarious!! kids are so much braver now than we were then… after my parents divorce I was told by a counsellor to write a note to my dad about how I felt… it kind of turned out to be a hate note but it felt good to get it out… she even got me to show it to him… that was tough but a lot better than holding onto those feelings alone!

Tasha · October 15, 2007 at 4:06 pm

That’s hilarious! I didn’t think kids used “not” anymore. I don’t remember leaving my parents notes but I used to call her “Mother” instead of mom when I was mad at her!

Amanda · October 15, 2007 at 7:16 pm

My daughter is too young to talk, let alone write. When I was a kid I used to write out messages like “I love you” or “Miss You” to my dad with candy (like M&M’s or Tart n’ Tiny’s) when he worked second shift and I wouldn’t get to see him until the weekend.

Lisa · October 15, 2007 at 7:43 pm

My kids notes are always apologies. LOL

serina · October 15, 2007 at 8:24 pm

Cool chalkboard! And funny kid!

Auntie Gayle · October 15, 2007 at 8:28 pm

Love the note! It’s priceless. I never left notes but I remember thinking “I hate you! I’m going to run away and then you’ll be sorry.”

Yan · October 15, 2007 at 11:19 pm

Oh, my, that’s so funny and cute !

XX · October 16, 2007 at 12:14 am

I used to fly paper airplanes with letters written on them into my parents’ room when they punished me and made me stay in my room. It was the only way I could get my message across without breaking the rule and coming out of my room. Most of the time the notes said things like, “I’m really really really sorry and you should let me out of my room now,” but when they ignored those, the notes would get progressively nastier until they said things like, “I am getting new parents if you don’t let me out of here.” :-D

laura · October 16, 2007 at 5:34 am

Madeline is too young to write, which is probably a good thing. I used to do nuts making cards for my mom on Print Shop on our Apple IIE back in the ’80’s. I wonder if she saved any of those?

Andrea · October 16, 2007 at 10:15 am

haha…your son is TOO funny…the things they can come up with….

Jamie · October 16, 2007 at 12:59 pm

My kids are still at the I love you stage, thank goodness. I think my heart will break when they write me nasty notes!

Deanne S. · October 16, 2007 at 1:30 pm

Funny, how can you not laugh.

I have to check those “wallies” out!

Pam · October 16, 2007 at 3:41 pm

Those wallies are pretty neat, I would so love one when my daughter is old (I have a feeling if I had one now my husband would have fun playing with it).

Deb on the Rocks · October 16, 2007 at 7:30 pm

When my youngest was about 5 he had learned to write “you are coooooooooool,” and he would add “o”s to the word cool as he deemed fit. One night some friends were over, and after dinner he made sticky notes for everyone with different amounts of ooooooooooo’s. Except for my friend Dean, who i knew he didn’t like. Dean’s said “You are ok.” We all knew what that meant!

Heather · October 16, 2007 at 9:19 pm

That’s funny. I think it’s great you could think it was too at the moment and jest back (about Christmas). My little one is still young, so it’s still hard for me to imagine not busting into tears!

Laura · October 17, 2007 at 10:56 pm

No notes yet. Almost jealous — that was hilarious. Don’t ever erase it… lol.

I didn’t leave any nasties, but I used to surreptitiously add items to my mother’s shopping list… not that she would ever mistakenly buy ‘chocolate chips’, ‘chocolate bars’ or ‘cookies’ (do we see a trend here?) just because I added them.

horsegames · August 31, 2010 at 11:03 am

love the kid. he has a good sense of humor.
