Not Dead Yet!

Published by on

So far … I am being told I have transverse myelitis. Go ahead and look it up on Wikipedia and please take note that I DODO have control of my bladder and my bowel — I repeat I DO have control of my bowel and my bladder.

I have the idiopathic sort (it means the idiots can’t figure out why … heeheehee).

It’s gotten a little bit worse over the past week. Hoping it doesn’t progress any further. The lesion is in my spinal cord at the c4 vertabrae, therefore, potentially everything below my chin could be paralyzed. Due to the fact that it came on quite slowly the doctors don’t think it will get much worse.

I skied today. I sucked! Due to a slight weakness on the left side of my body (thanks myelitis) I found it difficult. I was fun to get out and spend time with the kids. I figure I should get out and enjoy my legs while they still work.

Tomorrow I rest!

This is such a fun blog, eh? Come back and check on the status of my partial paralysis tomorrow.

Glad that you finally have a diagnosis. Sad that it could potentially lead to paralysis. And I can’t believe you tried to ski!

Yikes…good for you for going out anyway. I’d probably be too scared.
I usually refer to the Mayo Clinic website fro anything health related…so here’s a link to their TM page:

Hi Kim,

Maybe you remember me, maybe not. I ordered clothing for my son from you 2 years ago and was stunned with your customer support when my package was last in the mail and you send me all clothing again, for free!

My family and I wish you to beat your illness and recover quickly. I know there is a lot of chances you will.

With love from Russia,
Nikolai and family

Holala!!
I did not come here since so long… I found you are so courageous (is it the right word in english???). I am not sure I got everything but I understand enough to know that it is serious.
A thousand of thought for you and your family.
