Mommyknows is Now a Facebook Application ( Win a $100 Amazon Gift Card)

Published by on

**Winner of the $100 Amazon Gift Card is Safire of http://waterfalling-up.com/ — Congratulations Safire. I will contact you soon with your prize!**

I’ve made a few fixes, and a few changes here at MommyKnows. The BIGGEST one has to be that MommyKnows is now a Facebook App.

mommyknows is a facebook app

How cool is that? Well if you aren’t a Facebook fan, it’s probably annoying, but I am assuming that most of you use and like Facebook, just like me.

Come on over and click the LIKE button!

To the untrained eye, the Mommyknows app looks just like a fan page. I should know, because I have an untrained eye and that’s just how it looks to me, BUT it’s not it’s an app and apps can be integrated with wordpress. In case you care and even if you don’t, I LOVE wordpress.

What does that mean?

mommyknows facebook app

1. When you are on the App Page on Facebook, you can click on the Mommyknows Tab to read and comment on posts without leaving ever leaving Facebook. What’s nice for me, is the comments show up in both applications.

2. If you click on the ‘Add to Page’ link on the left Menu, you can have your very own Mommyknows Tab on your facebook page.

AND if you are reading this post ‘here’ on the blog version Mommyknows, you will notice (if you look way, way down to the comments section), that you can now comment HERE using your facebook login (or not if you prefer the wordpress way).

***

I am giving away one $100 Amazon Gift Card. To be eligible to win you need to ‘LIKE’ the Mommyknows App on Facebook.

AND / OR

You may also leave a comment below.

** Commenting and clicking on ‘LIKE’ will give you TWO entries.

I will choose one random winner on September 1st, 2010.

You totally didn’t need to add a bribe card for me to “Like” your page, but I’ll take it :) Yay for Facebook and Apps.

I’m really liking this app…I may have to research it myself. Was it hard to set up?

    MommyKnows · August 27, 2010 at 6:12 pm

@Safire Cooper, Thanks Safire. Yes and no. The app is easy to make on FB, BUT tweaking all the setting took quite a lot of time and there was some custom coding necessary to get it working and looking OK. I still think there are glitches.

this is so cool! How did you do it?

    MommyKnows · August 27, 2010 at 6:11 pm

@Kim Janocko, Thanks Kim! You have to create an app in FB (takes 2 minutes), then you have to install the plugin wp-book and then setup (hard part) to with your blog and FB.

That’s a cool app, but most of my IRL friends don’t read my blog and I kind of like it that way. I don’t feel as self-conscious about what I write. Yeah, I’m weird that way. I did go over and Like your page though. It is convenient to have the integrated comment feature. Google Reader frustrates me because I can’t comment from there.

    MommyKnows · August 30, 2010 at 8:47 pm

@Adrian, I hear you Adrian. I’ve had friends reading since the beginning, but sometimes I’d probably be more likely to spill my guts, if I new my IRL friends weren’t reading.
