Marching / Rolling / Dancing To Your Own Drum

Published by on

Georgia pretty much does, just what she pleases, when it pleases her.

downhill roll

A conversation I had with Georgia this morning:

Me: Where were you?

Georgia: In the front yard.

Me: What were you doing?

Georgia: Dancing.

Me: Really, the whole time?

Georgia: Yes! I had the music in my head.

Ah, life is simple when you’re five. You can still march to your own drum. I know I ‘could’ dance/march/roll around the front yard if I really wanted, but honestly … what would the neighbours think?

They’d probably think you’re a cool Mom….or a stoned one. :) Happy Weekend

@Ashley, Ugg, I’ve got the most horrible neighbour, a 60+ never married misery guts who hates kids. She’d probably think I was stoned and call the RCMP.

Hah! I love this and the music in MY head kept right up with her :)

debbie · June 26, 2010 at 2:24 pm

Wouldn’t life be tons better if we all could do that?

Kelly · June 27, 2010 at 1:37 pm

anytime someone asks me what in the world I was thinking, I’ll just tell them “I had the music in my head!” It’s the perfect response to everything. :)

i miss my childhood :(

Children indeed are oblivious to the world we know. In fact they form a world of their own where their imagination is free to run wild. They surely make the most of the simplest things in life as compared to us grown ups.

@Brande, Thanks for stopping by Brande. It’s finally summer … :) Kids are loving it!

It is so amazing to see your child doing like that. She’s very joyful. I heard that when a person always hears music in his/her ears are those that are always happy :)

This makes me miss childhood!

Cute photo sequence, and cute little story too. Perhaps we as adults can still “roll around in the yard” (either figuratively or literally) if we just find a way to do it when the neighbors aren’t watching. As grown ups, we simply know too much.

The pictures are so cute! I do wish we can go back to when we were lil kids. Doing anything and not caring about the world. No rationalizing involved. Just doing.

Tammy · July 8, 2010 at 11:58 am

My daughter is the same way.

The bad thing about growing up is that you’re becoming deaf to you inner music. Keep it loud as long as you can :)

Take care,
C
