Whoohoo … we’re in the home stretch Hayley’s celebrated her 18th Birthday today (that’s a big one here, where the legal drinking age is 18). She began her day with Breakfast out with her dad.

Georgia and I hung out in the park! (Cute MishMish outfit and Bical shoes eh?)

Georgia in the park

Literally – Georgia hung out in the park!

Hayley then when out for a birthday lunch with friends, she went straight from breakfast to lunch. I still hadn’t seen her or wished her a “happy birthday”.

It’s OK though, she is a grown up now, this is her big day and I have work to do!

Georgia has other plans for me. She’d rather I cleaned up after her!

Georgia messes with the roses

“HEY KID BACK AWAY from the ROSES.”

Georgia messes with the roses

“Don’t beat me Mom, I’m cute remember?”

I dealt with flowers and had Georgia happily playing with LEGO. Sometimes my patience and fabulous parenting skills shock even me!

Then again, maybe not! Georgia has decided to Shave! The lovely ADULT Hayley has left her razor on the bathroom counter for my baby to play with.

Georgia after shaving

Poor Georgia!

Georgia after shaving

Not as bad as it looks! She didn’t even cry, well not until some of that tissue was inhaled up her nose!

Me (on phone to Hayley): Get your A$$ home and help me! You’ve nearly killed your sister, you left you razor on the counter AND she’s bleeding everywhere. OH yeah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hayley: I am on my way! I’m sorry …

Sometimes my lack of parenting skills surprizes even me!

5 pm – MommyKnows takes an afternoon nap (so does Georgia finally)! I would like to point out that I disapprove of healthy adults sleeping in the middle of the day. I don’t know why, but it picks my butt! So mark this day on your calendars ladies (and Richard), because it may never happen again.

Hayley's Birthday Dinner @ Chilis

8 pm (it was a long nap – they were scared to wake me up) – We celebrate Hayley’s Birthday dinner @ Chilis – mmm Fahita’s and many, many icy cold Diet Cokes (i’m an addict). Fun had by all!

Four kids = Nervous Breakdown!

10 pm – Cake @ home … four kids one shot – priceless :) AND as you can see you can’t even tell that Georgia shaved her lip!

11 pm – So my 18 year old adult daughter is out on the town! You think you know where she is don’t you? BUT, nope she is not out at the bar having a drink … she is at her first R-rated movie – Knocked UP! I *heart* this movie – it’s VERY funny! I’m kind of proud she 18 and she’s @ Knocked Up instead of getting drunk and getting knocked up! Several more points for me!

Will (my absolutely Fan-flipping-tastic husband), has finished altering the Grad dress (weird huh, I’ll tell you about it on Friday)!

Tomorrow’s the big GRAD … will post Friday before leaving for hiking in the Rockies!

xo MommyKnows!

Poor kid, should have stuck with the roses……

Diane · June 28, 2007 at 12:01 am

Congratulations on a job well done, celebrating an 18th birthday with an r rated movie is much better than what I did to celebrate my 19th(legal drinking age in BC) (or my 16th for that matter!!)…

Beth · June 28, 2007 at 1:01 am

I would love to win this!!

Nikki · June 28, 2007 at 1:18 am

Have fun at the grad. wish me luck as I’m being induced at 8am tomorrow morning.

Richard · June 28, 2007 at 2:20 am

Lol@Kim… have fun :)

leslie · June 28, 2007 at 5:15 am

…i thought the roses were responsible for that lip…cringe!

Marla · June 28, 2007 at 6:13 am

Don’t worry…no social services call here! The poor little angel ~ usually at that age they find scissors and cut their hair…this is taking it one step further, huh!

Lisa · June 28, 2007 at 6:28 am

Yikes!! I am glad she was not seriously hurt. Kids at that age get into everything so quickly. I am glad your dd had a great birthday.

Safire · June 28, 2007 at 6:47 am

Congrats to the grad!

hmama · June 28, 2007 at 7:18 am

i’m just waiting for the day my son does this. wow. he’s probably already done worse and i just don’t know about it yet.

Cherylyn · June 28, 2007 at 7:27 am

Have a great grad, I ran my 2 year old’s hand over with the beater bar on my vacumn. (very long story) At least you didn’t DO anything to Georgia. I won’t call social services if you don’t!

Lucy · June 28, 2007 at 7:41 am

Sounds like an eventful day!

Alexia · June 28, 2007 at 8:20 am

I’m cringing at the thought of the razor…my wonderful 1-yr-old came out of my room the other day chewing on a razor, thankfully it still had it’s cover on *whew*

Cheryl · June 28, 2007 at 8:21 am

Sounds like you had a great, busy day! Kudos to Hayley for not getting drunk!!!

Deb · June 28, 2007 at 8:30 am

Much as I want my children to grow up…I think I’ll enjoy them being little for now..
As for the razor – me, the RESPONSIBLE parent did the same thing – left it out and my daughter also experimented on her mouth and tongue. Not a pretty sight, let me tell you!

Julie · June 28, 2007 at 8:48 am

Wow, what a day! You deserved that nap!!

Karyne · June 28, 2007 at 8:50 am

At the beginning, I thought that your little one was bleeding because of the roses!!!

Happy birthday to your daughter!

Lacey · June 28, 2007 at 8:54 am

My niece shaved her nose when she was little. Two little razor marks on the end of her nose for several days.

Alee · June 28, 2007 at 8:55 am

hehehe… no calling Social Services here – it’s amazing the things we say we’ll NEVER do before we become parents… then reality hits and you realize no one’s perfect at parenting

Angella · June 28, 2007 at 9:08 am

Oh, man! I’m glad Georgia’s OK! I would have downed many a DC to cope (nice to hear you’re an addict too :)).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Hayley!

Michelle · June 28, 2007 at 9:20 am

Ouch poor kid! and a crazy day for you!

Susanne · June 28, 2007 at 9:38 am

Poor Georgia! And I would never call Social Services, especially since the same thing almost happened to my daughter a couple of days ago. :) Glad you got to have a nap! I forgot what those were like, but it sounds really nice.

artsweet · June 28, 2007 at 9:46 am

If you give me a gift card, I won’t call social services on you. Not sure what they’d make of a call from a crazy yank anyway… ;-)

Katie · June 28, 2007 at 9:52 am

Aww, poor baby! No child welfare call from me…junk like that occurs at least weekly here I had to giggle when you said you disapprove of adult nappers…I am so the same way. I roll my eyes when anybody over 16 or under 65 takes naps.

I could very much use one of those gift cards!

Jennifer Walker · June 28, 2007 at 9:57 am

My son grabbed my hubby’s razor off the vanity the other day. He’s only 17 months old. He is too tall for his age! His reach is incredible. Luckily I was standing right there. I put it down and he mimicked shaving with his hand to his chin and said “daddy”.

maddiesmom · June 28, 2007 at 10:16 am

Such beautiful kids! I would love a gift card. Always looking to buy cute clothes for my daughter.

Tracy · June 28, 2007 at 10:24 am

Our new bundle of joy has finally arrived, his brothers are over joyed and I am very tired LOL. I would love to buy him come very cute things. Happy Birthday to your daughter and congratulations.

Tracy · June 28, 2007 at 10:27 am

Sorry, I am not trying to enter twice but I have a question about the bical shoes. Do they let any sand in them? My 2 1/2 year old hates to go to the park and get sand in his shoes.

Kismet · June 28, 2007 at 10:35 am

At first I thought you were going to tell us she cut her lip on a rose thorn! Poor baby.

Congrats to the grad.

Yes, I would love you win your lovely contest. Count me in please.

~K!

Apples on a Stick · June 28, 2007 at 11:02 am

I’m going to be more vigilant in keeping my razor away from the kids.

imagine if she had found a bottle of nair and taken it to her head? giggle giggle!

Mama K · June 28, 2007 at 11:23 am

oh nooo!! poor baby.
Guess I better stop leaving my razor on the side of the tub.

Andrea · June 28, 2007 at 11:25 am

hehe…yeah, I’ll need to keep our razors out of reach soon too, now that my little guy is starting to get around!! So yeah, count me in on the contest too please, and hope her owie is all better soon!

joylynn · June 28, 2007 at 11:26 am

No Social Services calls from me either. I’ve had my own child mishaps which could warrant a call including the child climbing in the washing machine at age 2…Turned out OK. I’m glad the shaving wound cleared up so fast. Happy graduation also!

Pam · June 28, 2007 at 12:59 pm

No social services calls happening from her either. I’m assuming your daughter was okay enough to share her big sisters birthday cake later on.
One of these days my daughter will try something like that, but she’s still too little, although I am paranoid of her reaching up in the bathtub and getting to my shampoo bottles (she hasn’t actually tried standing in the tub thankfully but I know she could if she tried). Happy graduation to your oldest!

Kilikina · June 28, 2007 at 1:33 pm

Count me in.

I am so sorry that she found the razor, that is horrible. Glad she wasn’t hurt bad.

Naomi · June 28, 2007 at 1:34 pm

I am really surprised Roo has never messed with our razors. Dumb luck, I’m sure. I’m glad Georgia was tentative with it and didn’t slice something off… yikes!

I loved Knocked Up, too. I want my husband to go see it before I have the new baby, I thought it was absolutely hilarious. I am sure it would discourage some bad behavior in most 18 year old girls, too! Or at least point out how goofy guys are. And remain…

Damselfly · June 28, 2007 at 2:08 pm

Oh, what a day for you! One kid turning 18, another shaving her lips — and you managed to photograph it all! You have a lovely family.

crabmommy · June 28, 2007 at 2:32 pm

MK! That Georgia with the Razor vignette is one hilarious and terrible story (my favorite kind). And the pix are priceless. True to character, your sense of humor prevailed in what everyone else would call a crisis. But Mommyknows that what it really is, is a memory. Georgia will love those pix. Pull them out when she’s 18, so as to caution her not to leave the razor out for MK baby #8. :)

Lesha Anderson · June 28, 2007 at 2:44 pm

Ouchie!

Montserrat · June 28, 2007 at 3:09 pm

You’ve really had one eventful week! Congrats to the grad!

Mefeng · June 28, 2007 at 4:18 pm

Glad that Georgia is fine. Love your 4 kids’s picture. Enjoy the grad day.

Marcy · June 28, 2007 at 4:49 pm

ahhhhhhhhh Poor girl my heart skipped a beat when i saw the picture FIRST!! I am glad she is better now.

I also am not a day time napper, it wrecks the rythme of my day and just makes me MORE tired in the evening.

Deanne S. · June 28, 2007 at 4:55 pm

OUCH!! Gotta love the adventures of parenting – at least it never gets boring!!!!

glittersmama · June 28, 2007 at 5:06 pm

Poor baby. I thought it was Red Vines!

MonaB · June 28, 2007 at 5:49 pm

Ouch! that smarts! I think every little kid one way or another tries to copy daddy’s shaving skills in the bathroom. I remember my little sister watching my dad every morning put on the shaving cream and razor, so one day she thought “how fun” and did just that. Neeedless to say, she cut her upper lip just like your little one. She still has the scar to this day!

pinks & blues girls · June 28, 2007 at 6:21 pm

Awwww, poor Georgia! She’s a trooper, not crying after her little mishap!

Happy Birthday to Hayley! Mmmm, Chili’s. Now you have me craving their Southwestern Egg Rolls

Kait · June 28, 2007 at 6:42 pm

I just saw Knocked Up last weekend and thought it was pretty funny too :)

Dollymama · June 28, 2007 at 7:05 pm

I promise not to call…. Man that looks painful!

Heather · June 28, 2007 at 7:24 pm

Ouch! Poor Georgia!

carol · June 28, 2007 at 7:34 pm

Have fun at Graduation tomorrow!

Laura · June 28, 2007 at 9:12 pm

Poor baby…but Congrats to the grad

Priya · June 28, 2007 at 10:12 pm

Is that you in the chillis restaurant pic? If yes then U dont look like the mommy of a 18 year old. seriously :o)

Janice · June 28, 2007 at 10:27 pm

Hi, would love to win!
Not caught up on your posts – hope you are feeling better!

alison · June 28, 2007 at 10:28 pm

I remember shaving my face when I was a kid. I don’t have any scars, but I seem to recall enough blood that my face should be nothing but scar tissue. Anyway, I’m glad Georgia survived with little to show for the incident.

pauline · June 29, 2007 at 3:13 am

Happy birthday Hayley! 18! Can’t believe it!

Hope Georgia’s OK!

jw4mkc · June 29, 2007 at 7:48 am

When I was little, I propped myself up on my Nene’s bathroom cabinet and proceeded to shave my legs.. Well, I pulled out a drawer in front of the door to get the razor ..and When I started screaming from ripping half my leg off, they could not get to me because the drawer would not let them open the door! Obviously the carpenter never had little kids – haha.. or at least never a kid like me or Georgia! Oh..and social services wasn’t called then and won’t be called now – haha!

txhorns · June 29, 2007 at 8:35 am

Would love to win the certificate. Congrats on raising such a good girl. Birthdays are fun!

Laura · June 29, 2007 at 9:12 am

Wow, that’s funny. Nope I won’t call Social Services, if you promise not to call them on me, in a house where kids fall down the stairs, stick stuff in their siblings ears, open the sliding door on their siblings so that their little bodies careen into the window well filled with junk, and oh yeah! a kid grabbed a cooling (but not yet cooled) unattended iron and burnt their little hands (this one is actually grandma’s fault.)

Susy-Q · June 29, 2007 at 9:31 am

My niece also tried to “shave” when she was just little. She did the number on her legs (she was actually a pretty hairy little girl). I was seriously impressed with how she had managed to only nick herself in a few spots. By the way, your daughter is absolutely gorgeous…even with bloodied paper stuck to her upper lip.

Anna · June 29, 2007 at 11:11 am

Isn’t it fun being a parent? *grin*

Sharesa · June 29, 2007 at 11:35 am

Life happens, and kids get into everything, even when we think the house is safe, they always have a way of finding the one thing we left undone! A gift certificate would be amazing!

andrea · June 29, 2007 at 12:18 pm

Oh, poor baby! I hope she’s doing ok and that your big girl enjoyed her movie!

Elly · June 29, 2007 at 1:03 pm

Ouch! ouch! ouch! She probably thought the pretty razor was a piece of candy…what a let down!

Mary C · June 29, 2007 at 2:08 pm

Too cute!

Lisa · June 29, 2007 at 2:16 pm

Oh, poor Georgia.

tanyetta · June 29, 2007 at 6:45 pm

please enter me to win.

p.s. she is tooo cute!

Jen the Mom · June 29, 2007 at 6:56 pm

I love the picture of her with the toilet paper stuck to her lips. It’s so cute. More than anything though I’m looking forward to reading about your sewing grand master you have hidden at your place.
