We have THREE winners:

#10: Naomi
#49: Beth
#30: Ryan’s Mom

Extended one more day to include the 18th, which means I will give away THREE sets of BabyLegs!

I won, I won @ CrabMommy! Using my great ‘googling‘ skills and the hints CrabMommy left, I figured out she was vacationing in Korea. I won a not so great hat, but being one who likes to win, well the winning part was enough for me! It’s not such a great trait (always wanting to win), but honesty is (right?) and I’m being honest.

It’s 7:30 a.m. (my sleep in day), it’s so not happening today! And it won’t happen tomorrow (Father’s Day and not my sleep in day). Oh my, it’s me whining again, is it starting to sound familar?

The BIG party is today. I am pretty much ready, but the sky’s are grey, I hope Mother Nature is kind. I will take pictures of the lunacy – stay tuned!

***

Sam’s actual birthday was on Thursday, one of the gifts he received from the girls was LEGO (I love LEGO). Friday, morning Lizzy was sitting and staring at the LEGO box.

“It’s too bad you have to put those together yourself” she says.

I look at her kind of confused and say, “What?”

“The LEGO, they should make the stuff and then put it in the box. You know, so you don’t have to put it together.”

MommyKnows doesn’t ‘know’ that! Hahaha … that’s kind of the point kid, you’re supposed to have fun making it! I was worth a chuckle, I am supposing she isn’t a LEGO lover!

Sam also reveived this NERF harmless soft-projectile propelling device (Ok, Ok, it’s a gun Ok). Which hands down was his favorite.

I am going to kick off the comments this a.m. by telling you that I LOVE my Dad! He has many, many great qualities, and the one that I have always admired is his ‘work ethic’. He is a hard worker and is never afraid to pull out the ‘elbow grease’.

Deb · June 16, 2007 at 9:00 am

Why I love my dad: he has the strongest will I’ve ever seen in a person….and while I was growing up (I still think I am) he encouraged me to set high standards (which sounds like a negative), but I did really well at school because of it.

Do I ever love the Babyleg stripes and argyle prints!

Kait · June 16, 2007 at 9:36 am

Love love love those! Hope I win. I love my dad because he’s such a great grandpa.

Mama K · June 16, 2007 at 9:48 am

oh no you didn’t! I *heart* skully stuff for my baby boy!

My dad is super handy. He can build pretty much anything. When I was a kid he made me a puppet show stage, braceation ladder (like monkey bars), a tree fort as well as countless science projects.

Julie · June 16, 2007 at 9:50 am

I have a daughter but those would be cute for my nephew! My dad is great…always very thoughtful and insightful, never one to worry and a wonderful granddad!

Susy-Q · June 16, 2007 at 10:40 am

My dad is a terrific human being. He spent all of his healthy life working his butt off to support a family of five children. We never had too much, but we never went without. Now that I have a son, I understand all the sacrifices he made for us. Just when he thought he could retire and reap the rewards of 50 years of hard work, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He is doing well all things considered, but it makes Father’s Day all the more special every year. He has kept his spirit and sense of humour through all the pain and I think he is a perfect role model for my son.

We just started raising funds for the National SuperWalk Event. If anyone want to pledge me and help support the cause, check this out:

Happy Father’s Day Dad’s of the World!

Dee Dee · June 16, 2007 at 10:48 am

My dad is patient, generous and full of love to give.

Deanne S. · June 16, 2007 at 11:04 am

My dad is Mr. fix it – especially with cars! It was always nice knowing he could repair almost anything. He’s still the one we all turn to when our car is making a funny noise, and he almost always has the answer! He is also a very generous man.

Montserrat · June 16, 2007 at 11:46 am

I am closer to my Dad (Papito) than I am to my Mom. He is my rock. He encourages me in all my endeavors and has helpful tips for my parenting woes. He also is a big kid who never really grew up. My mom likes to say “I had children so your Dad would have someone to play with!”

Naomi · June 16, 2007 at 12:01 pm

My dad wasn’t around all that much when I was a kid but in the past few years, he’s really made an effort to keep in touch. Now that he has a granddaughter (and a grandson on the way!), he seems much more interested in kids in general.

Laura · June 16, 2007 at 12:04 pm

If I may, I’d like to talk about my surrogate dad, my father-in-law.

He is one of the smartest people I know, yet he never even started high school. He has the mind of an engineer and is always questioning and investigating the inner works of things. When bringing up his kids, he dealt with them with such patience and yet with a firmness that instilled strong morals and values in them. I know that the man I have in DH is due to in a large part to the way his father raised him… and I am so grateful for that!

Richard · June 16, 2007 at 12:16 pm

My dad is a good listener and otherwise just a great guy!

Lisa · June 16, 2007 at 12:18 pm

My dad is a great guy. I am in awe with his patience and love for his grand-kids. He will ask them over to help with a project. It takes twice as long with their help. Then he pays them for their help. It is great to see my children learn and enjoy their grandfather.

lolly · June 16, 2007 at 12:21 pm

My dad is awesome. He is kind and incredibly patient and very fun! He loves his family so much. I am so lucky to have him.

And I’ve been wanting to try out babylegs forever! They’re so adorable.

glittersmama · June 16, 2007 at 1:17 pm

My dad has four daughters and no sons. Instead of just letting us play with dolls, he taught each one of us how to throw and catch a ball. He taught us a proper batting stance and to always keep our eye on the ball. He made sure that we weren’t scared of the ball either. Interesting parallels to the rest of our lives…

Pam · June 16, 2007 at 1:57 pm

My dad is awesome. He’s so innovative. If we ask for him to do/fix/make something for us, even though it might take a bit of time (he’s a busy man and lives 5 hours away from us) it does get done. Oh and so giving. Like the driveway curbs he gave my husband for his birthday last year. Sounds boring but it was a great gift…rather than buying my husband video gams, dvds or other big boy toys he gets something more useful (and my car sure appreciated it)…he’d find the same sort of gives for me too, like th e230 piece ratchet set I got for Christmas once. It sure came in handy when I needed some spark plug bit when I talked him into tuning up my car! The fact that my father is there for me and both my sisters whenever we need him is what makes him the best dad in the world. Also his strong work ethic when we were growing up (and even still) helped to instill good worth ethics in myself and my siblings.

nikkapotamus · June 16, 2007 at 1:57 pm

I love those skulls! We are such pirates around here.

I’m going to agree with glittersmama and say that I love my dad because he only rarely treated me like a girl (my first date with a BOY and prom). He taught me how to change the oil in my car, fix a flat tire, and never let those guys at the auto parts store think I was a helpless female who didn’t know a carberator from a disk brake. But he also taught me that if the car guy was REALLY cute, I could pretend I didn’t know a thing about a brakes!

MonaB · June 16, 2007 at 2:14 pm

Why I love my Dad? He is the most honest and loving man in so many ways. When my sister and I were growning up, My dad was the single dad working 2 jobs to support us after a mess divorce. Back in the early eighties, where there we not many single dads not to mention raising 2 young girls. Even though he was working most of the time, trying to make ends meet, he showed us love by giving us support when needed, letting us know that he was there for us. He also made us believe in ourselves, even though we felt misunderstood. Now that I am a grown woman with a family of my own and now that my dad is in his 70’s. My sister and I make sure we spend all those special days with him and letting him know we love him and that he did a great job!

Cherylyn · June 16, 2007 at 2:47 pm

My dad and I had one of those interesting relationships growing up, we were VERY similiar so drove each other nuts, but now we realize how much we have in common and can really relate. We now think the rest of the world is a little nuts:). I also love how great a grandpa he is. My kids only have 1 grandpa, but he gives them enough love and energy for 2.

Jennifer Bogart · June 16, 2007 at 2:50 pm

I love my Dad, and I love Babylegs (though I don’t have a pair yet!).

My Dad re-married a Norwegian, and lived in Norway for a number of years, but he moved back to Canada to be nearer to his kids :)!

Marcy · June 16, 2007 at 3:45 pm

My Dad… He is the hardest working guy I know. He was and is always at every planned special moment in my life.

Tracy · June 16, 2007 at 5:23 pm

My dad passed away about 5 years ago, but I was very blessed. My dad was always someone that I could count on. I could call him when I was driving around lost in a city and he would be able to help be find my way home, I could call him and know that he would always listen with a non judgemental ear. He is someone that I will always look up to for his patience and willingness to help. He was and is great in my eyes. One of the most terrific things about my dad was his undying love for my mom and he never stopped showing it. I could go on forever.

Corey · June 16, 2007 at 5:46 pm

oooooooooooooooooo I won yesterdaY! I am sooooooooooooooo excited! :) Thanks!

Mary C · June 16, 2007 at 5:58 pm

I lost my dad to cancer 10 years ago. I was 20 years old, which means he didn’t get to see me graduate from college, get engaged, get married, or ever meet his grandchildren. I miss him everyday. He was so funny, loving, and generous. He loved my mom, my sister and I so much, The best piece of advice he ever gave me was “never settle.” I have applied that to every area of my life! Anyway, he was the best. Thanks for letting us share.

maddiesmom · June 16, 2007 at 6:01 pm

My Dad has taught me to stick with things and to love unconditionally. Growing up I knew no matter what he would always be there for our family. Now he is a Grandpa and is #1 at that also.

Babylegs Rock! My daughter has the neopolitan pair and wears them alot.

Lucy · June 16, 2007 at 6:06 pm

My dad is hilarious and has somehow managed to survive living with 4 women (3 daughters and a wife) for the past 20 something years. I think this was especially difficult for him because he grew up in a family of boys.

Those babylegs rock!

Michelle · June 16, 2007 at 6:27 pm

My dad passed away when I was only a year old but my husband is the best father in the world. We have a 4 year old daughter and expecting a baby boy any day now. My husband is a wonderful father. We will not be spending fathers day with him though. he is a soldier in the US Army and is currently stationed in Korea. He has been gone for 8 months now and was suppose to be coming home for our son’s birth but with the military, things come up and his leave has been delayed. Our daughter tells me all the time that her daddy is the coolest daddy EVER!!! And he is.

Annie · June 16, 2007 at 7:13 pm

My dad: such a good person. Although shy and quiet, and might have a hard time saying it, he loves his family with all his being. And so we can’t help but love him back.

Pinks & Blues · June 16, 2007 at 7:21 pm

Oh my… I love my Dad more than anything in the world. I love him for teaching me how to make clam dip and grilled cheese with tomato! For loving my boys as if they were his own. For taking us all over the country when we were kids with no money – and none of us even new that! For working his butt off everyday to provide for his family. For helping me pay for my education and teaching me to aim for the sky. I love that he makes me laugh and that he calls me every May Day and plays the song “It’s May” from the musical Camelot. I love that he let me leave swim camp when I was 10 b/c I was so homesick! I love my Dad b/c he used to play on the floor with my boys in so much pain before he got his hip replaced b/c he didn’t want to tell them he couldn’t. I love my Dad b/c we have a special handshake. And mostly b/c I know that he has gotten to know me, the real me.. and loves me for every thing I am. ANd I love him back just as much.

Great idea!!

Oh… and I literally peed my pants at your comment about my posts – Must We COunt in Weeks!!??

Ryans Mom · June 16, 2007 at 8:37 pm

I love my dad so much, we don’t naturally say that a lot but we both know how we feel. I think daughters really do have something special with their father, it is a great relationship.

I live thousands of miles away from my father (he is in UK) and that really makes me appreciate the time we have together when he visits me here.

My dad taught me lots of cool things like playing soccer, catching little fish in streams, reading books (which I still love to do now) and how to pump on a swing. But more importantly, I inherited some great traits from my dad; patience and tolerance – which have come in very useful now that I am a mother myself!

I wish my dad could be here with me on fathers day, but after reading some comments here on your blog, I feel very lucky that I can still pick up the phone and call him whenever I want.

My son would love these babylegs for hockey, he loves to play floor and ice hockey especially with his dad. Special time together.

Laura · June 16, 2007 at 8:58 pm

This will be the second Father’s Day without my dad but I am so glad he got to meet his grand daughter and I am so happy my hubby is such a wonderful father.

Jennifer Walker · June 16, 2007 at 9:39 pm

My Dad is making up for not being the most engaged father by being a terrific grandpa to my 16 month old son.

Kathryn · June 16, 2007 at 11:50 pm

Oh, my dad taught me how to make guacomole and enjoy it w/wine coolers when i was 20!.. LOVED it.. how fun. I also have a WONDERFUL stepfather who came into our family and told everyone that he married my mom and gained “a wife, four wonderful kids, and a cat.”.. He calls us “blessings” regularly as in “see you next week, Blessings.”.. yup, LOVE that man as much as my dad!

and we LOVE Baby LEgs (now, we’re new wearers having recently won a pair!!)

Yan · June 17, 2007 at 12:12 am

I love my dad ’cause he is always go out of his way to help us with anything we need, from fix stuff around the house to baby site my two little ones, my son just adores his grandpa !!

Diane · June 17, 2007 at 12:43 am

I love my dad because he always took us camping and climbed trees with us

Mary-Jo · June 17, 2007 at 1:05 am

I love my Dad because he is such a hard working, DEPENDABLE, responible, honest man… he’s the goods~

Marla Kostis · June 17, 2007 at 5:07 am

My dad is awesome ~ he speaks two languages, so as a result all my 9 kids are bilingual. Thanks dad!

Lacey · June 17, 2007 at 7:24 am

I love my dad. He encouraged us to love the outdoors when we were kids. He is also great with his granddaughters.

DaisyMom · June 17, 2007 at 8:16 am

My Dad is a big teddy bear. Seeing him with his granddaughter is the most amazing thing I could ever think of.

Alexia · June 17, 2007 at 1:59 pm

My dad is not here anymore, but I still think of him and all the great things he taught me while he was still alive.

Southern Mom · June 17, 2007 at 3:13 pm

My dad is the kindest man I know…next to my husband. One of the things that has touched me most about my dad is that he has treated my husband just like his own son since the day I brought him home to meet my parents(my husband’s dad left when he was 4 years old). It is a joy to have the two men I admire most be so close.

Lisa · June 17, 2007 at 7:24 pm

My dad is a lot of fun. He absolutely adores my daughter, his first grandchild. They were just over for dinner and he kept commenting about how adorable she was. It is so sweet. He was pulling her around in her wagon and she was having a blast. And he gets all excited when we come up to the trailer so we can go on Charlie Choo Choo.

Janice · June 17, 2007 at 7:32 pm

Arrr….must have Jolly Jack Baby Legs.

I lost my father to lung cancer 6 years ago. I can see a little of him in my son.

My Dad had a great sense of humor. And I enjoyed doing things with him, like goiing to the middle of no-where to take picutres of trains, and building models together.

My Step-father is just the best grand-father for my son. He comes over every Saturday to see him and brings flowers from his garden.

artsweet · June 17, 2007 at 10:06 pm

ooo, love love baby legs.

Love my dad as well, who could not be more excited about becoming a grandfather to my son, who should be coming home from Guatemala in just a few weeks!

Melanie · June 17, 2007 at 10:53 pm

I love my dad because he is always there for me.

I am a big time LEGO lover too!

Angella · June 18, 2007 at 11:59 am

Yay for winning! I was so happy when I won here. I’m good for baby legs, but wanted to leave you a comment to say “hi”, and to tell you that the dress I ordered arrived. IT’S AWESOME! It’s supposed to warm up this week, so there will be pictures to come. And more shopping to be done by yours truly :)

Susanne · June 18, 2007 at 12:22 pm

My Dad has always been the most patient and loving father. He never pressured any of us to play sports, even though he was great at it and even played in college. He always cheered us on at whatever made us happy. And he was always there with a listening ear and a soft shoulder when we needed help or advice. I love you, Daddy!

P.S. – I just got the puzzle in the mail…thanks so much! The kids are enjoying as I type. :)

Mimi · June 18, 2007 at 12:51 pm

I love my dad for so many reasons but mainly because of his presence and his time. He’s always there for us, ready to help in just about anyways.

Beth · June 18, 2007 at 12:57 pm

My dad is wonderful because he writes me a “love note” every Christmas! Even now that I have my own family, I can still expect my letter from him.

Carol · June 18, 2007 at 1:04 pm

My dad worked alot as we owned a small grocery store, we usually saw him early in the morning and late at night before we went to bed. One thing he always did that I will always remember is that he made time for us every Sunday afternoon, It was just daddy and us girls. We knew growing up that he tried to give us everything possible even though it meant that he had to work and spend alot of time away from the family but it’s his way of showing his love for us and we love him dearly for everything he’s done for us.

Mrs. Pear · June 18, 2007 at 1:32 pm

I have a sweet nephew! Just born last week! Not even a week old yet, and I am sure that he needs a pair of these!

My second Dad made up for my first one. He made me feel like the smartest girl in the world when I tried hard and failed, and got after me to try hard when I was not, which taught me to not be afraid to just try stuff, to take the risk!

jst · June 18, 2007 at 2:11 pm

I love my dad as he taught me a lot about life and and I love my stepdad because he taught me a lot about love. I know it sounds cliche, but it’s true.

jw4mkc · June 18, 2007 at 2:47 pm

More skull stuff for Harlie to wear and my sister to love her even more when she wears it..haha!!

My dad has a way of (what we call) letting people run over him, yet without really letting them do it. I love that he does and does and does for people..and if they run over him – he brushes it off and does for them again. I wish I were more like that – the whole “do unto other – No matter what is done to you!”

My dad was a pretty intense father…either tons of fun or a rager. But he has turned out to be wonderful grandpa (“Papa Bear” to my 4 kids). He knows I can only shop at thrift stores so twice a year he takes my little ones (2-4-6-8) shopping to pick out a brand new outfit or two! Now he is just a lot of fun and has learned to let go of the raging tendencies.
