You were starting to think that I’d forgotten about you, weren’t ya? Nope, just on holiday!

Our 60 km hike was delayed due to Will’s sore foot (I think he’s been jumping on the trampoline too much). We decided that the 60km, 3 days/2 nights backpacking trip was too much (for him) and decided to do some shorter hikes and bikes instead.
Saturday, I did 5/6 km hike with my mom, Georgia, Sam and Lizzy. Later in the day a whole bunch of us did a short 10 km hike up to Chester Lake – the hike is pretty short and relatively easy (not ALL up hill) but the views were fantastic!
We saw this Moose on the drive to the trailhead. If you can’t see the moose … look at the mountains – LOVE that view!

Judd is from New Orleans and eating snow in July makes him happy as you can see! Lizzy looks like she just might want to give him what we canucks call a ‘face wash’ (we violently rub your face in or with snow).

Sunday was Canada Day, we had tons of fun! The day was full with a parade, picnic, concert in the park, bbq and of course fire works.

Sam’s wearing BabyLegs on his arms too! Cute idea :) and even the big boys (11 and 13 wanted a pair)! I don’t know who the woman is behind him, but I am sure she’ll be pleased as punch to be on my blog.

Monday brought 38 km of mountain biking and no photo’s as it was gruelling, character building day and no room in my pack for the 3 billion pound Nikon D-70 (which I love but hate to carry and use).

I was thinking over the weekend, especially on Canada Day in the park with the kids how lucky I am (we are) to have won the birth lottery and live so well. I was thankful that I am Canadian and that I live in North America. None of my great-grandparents were born in Canada, sometimes in the dead of winter I wonder what in the heck (in actual fact, the word I think is much nastier, but I’m remembering not to swear, except on Monday’s) they were thinking ?? ummm had they heard of California?? But this weekend hiking and enjoying Canada Day I was especially thankful they choose this place! I mean just check out the view …
My great-grandparents came from: Denmark, Sweden, South Dakota and Missouri (the USA family’s were in the States as early as 1718 (maybe earlier)).

Yeah…those are awesome photos…I LOVE the mountains here in canada…so beautiful! :) And my families old country is Russia! And now my parents are in Manitoba and we are in Saskatchewan!! :) yay!

My family is from England…I am first generation American! :) And let me tell you, it’s no fun growing up with a hankering for Mars bars and Aero bars and not being able to buy them at the regular grocery store. English chocolate rocks!

I hope you had a great Canada day. We went to a great Canada day celebration in mackinaw. Happy 4th of July. My family is mostly native American. So I consider America my old land although I do have some english heritage also.

My parents were both born in Holland…and immigrated to Canada when they were young…which means I was born here. :) I too am proud to call myself Canadian!

The pictures are beautiful. My ancesters have been in Canada for a very long time. I have German ancesters that came over in the 1800s. I’m also part English, Irish, Scotish and Dutch.

We live in Southern California now, but we are Canucks! My husband and I were both born and raised in Manitoba, and he is my university sweetie! We married the year after I graduated from university (he beat me by a year, but he is a year older!), and then moved down here for a job transfer.
So I would love the maple leaf baby legs!!!
Oh, and we are sure to celebrate every Canada Day!

St. Patty’s is our day – My mom’s mom’s great grandfather and my dad’s mom’s great grandfather BOTH came from Ireland and were two of the original settlers of the county they all live in now. Weee be a tad bit Irish & German & Indian & well.. Heinz 57

My Great Grandma was pregnant with my grandpa and was to come over on the TITANIC. She had such bad morning sickness that she chose to take a later Voyage. SOOOO GRATEFUL for that one.

I am embarrassed to say this, but I have no idea where the old country is for my family. I grew up being told our heritage was “French Canadian”…no idea where we came from before that! My DH’s family is all from Greece ~ does that count as heritage? Guess it does, for our children!

Oh, wow, the mountains are amazing. About exactly the opposite of the scenery here in Kansas, I’m afraid.
My mother’s family is Japanese, from Okinawa, and my dad’s is Russian/French/English/German. So pretty typically America, I guess!

Those mountains are GORGEOUS! We farm in the deserts of Nevada so I really appreciate seeing pictures such as these.
I’m a sort of Heinz 57. My ancestors come from so many different places: England, Wales, Spain, and Mexico are the biggest contributors to my DNA.

The photos are certainly gorgeous. My fam is originally from Eastern Europe, and immigrated to Manitoba, where they bought land and became farmers. We’ve since all moved into the big city (and I’m now in Ontario), but I’m always sentimental about the prairies.

Great photos! My ancestors are from Ireland and Scotland. But we were just talking about this today – my daughter is a fourth generation Calgarian (you don’t meet to many people who are actually from Calgary these days…mostly they’re from Saskatchewan)!

My family’s old country is China. My father immigrated to Canada when he was 14 years of age and I am first generation Canadian born and raised in Alberta. My husband’s family is from Germany. He was born and raised in Germany and moved to Manitoba with his family to continue on their horse breeding business 20 years ago. We now call Alberta home but do travel back to the old country as often as we can.

My great-great grandparents came from Ireland and Sweden, settled in Missouri and we’ve stayed close to the midwest ever since. DH’s family is ALL Irish, came over to Iowa during the potato famine. We’d like to get to Ireland some day, see the old country. And Irish blood makes beautiful kids, blue eyes and freckles.

My grand-parents are Ukrainian on one side and British on the other. My family is Canadian, left Saskatchewan (like many other people) about 15 years ago and have been “Albertans” every since. I LOVE Alberta (esp. Sherwood Park)!!

Beautiful pictures! They make me want to go to the mountains!!! My DH doesn’t feel comfortable tenting it with a ten month old though so it’s not going to happen this year (Slave Lake here we come instead…..lol).
As for the old country, it would be Ukraine, Germany and Poland.

I miss the mountains! I spent 10 years going to Alberta in the summer for work. Good old treeplanting. I saw a lot of beautiful country doing that job and it made me prouder than ever of being Canadian and working hard to turn the landscape back to it’s beautiful self.
As for my “heritage”, it is Italian (from Dad’s side) and French (from Mom’s side).

I have ancestors from England, Ireland, and Germany. But the ones I know the most about, my great-grandparents, were born in Norway, though they met here in the U.S.
I try to celebrate my Scandinavian heritage, and belonging to Daughters of Norway helps do that.

We say we’re German, but we’ve been over her since before the civil war on my mom’s side of the family. My dad’s from WI where 60% of the population is of German decent so we have a bit of the culture from there.

I already commented but wanted to add my husbands newfoundland heritage is supposedly Pirate Pike who eloped with a princess, thats what they tell me:)
and-i want to get some babylegs for next winter for my son anyway, its just getting the hubby to agree to the extra spending maybe if they are cool enough he will break and become a babyleg pusher
once he likes something he does that, pesters everybody…haha
.i am glad that somebody finnally thought of a cool way to deal with gapiosis, it always did disturb me getting through the walmart parking lot with kaelyns little legs freezing all the way from the little socks to almost the little knees

I don’t know if I’m getting in before 9 but I”m trying! My mom’s family is Welsh, before they settled in Canada! (Northern Alberta but I’m a US reader).. My dad’s family is originally German. After being raised in Calgary, I now reside in WA state.
