Imagine …

in Family, General

Imagine it’s 20 degrees below ZERO.

Imagine how cold that is. (Those of you living this, don’t waste your energy imagining. You live with the horror, just bear with me.)

Imagine how TERRIBLE your life would be if your parents made you wear mittens!

Imagine ...
OH THE HORROR!

Imagine if (like me) you had to deal with this 2-3 times a day!

What sends your kids into a melt-down?

ha ha ha… my kids freak out if I put the WRONG mittens on them or if I put their hat on the WRONG way… but they never refuse to wear them since it is about -40 here right now!

My son goes into a meltdown when he has to get into the bathtub (and then again when he has to get out)…hmmm…

ditto on the mittens and…being told not to: put your hands in the toilet, try to remove electrical cords, pull the heat grates off the floor, eat the cat, sit on the cat, pull the cats tail, and many many more.

Hmmm…they probably meltdown most at each other. They know how to push each other’s buttons, and do it often. I am a referee most of the time!

I will blog my pic of J wearing mittens & CRYING from when she was H’s age.. tomorrow – have a superbowl party to prepare for right now and wet nails or I would go through the discs and get it…

H goes into a frenzy when she wants her shoes on and we won’t help-because she doesn’t need them on – In fact..two nights ago, she came in our room and got in bed with us – 20 months old here – and I couldn’t figure out what she had – it was RAINBOOTS!!! and she freaked out when we took them from her – 2:30am… Then last night, again.. only with her pink Crocks – This kid and shoes!!!

Oh, MK! That is both miserable and hilarious — which, as you know, is my favorite kind of blog post to read! :) :(
Poor little cherub. Are you still enduring the daily walk to school in this?

Fightin that daily battle here too and the nose finger connection- UGH!

My daughter is still in the car seat bucket phase. She HATES when I pull the blankets up over her arms – she fights it all she can. Then phase 2 of the melt down comes with the hat. Ugggh…

She also gets mad when we take her out of her jumperoo – she loves that thing! But a little hard to feed her in as she bounces!!

not letting him have gum…he DOES swallow it…that was our meltdown at the grocery store…it wasn’t pretty. thank god no one had a camera to capture that scene!

    Poor lil one. hehe

What doesn’t send my son into meltdown? He is very opinionated. He wants what he wants… NOW. Diapering has become particularly challenging. Thankfully we are well on our way to potty learning.

Oh, I know how you feel! My son freaks if his thumb isn’t in his mittens “just right”.

A neck scarf! A face protector. They act like they are going to suffocate. I don’t like hearing any child cry no matter what the reason. It makes me sad!

My daughter melt down sometimes for toothbrushing, and always when we take away her toys.

  • Naomi February 3, 2008, 3:21 pm

Roo does that several times a day. Naptime, bedtime, not getting her way, being asked to do something while she’s watching tv, getting water instead of juice… you name it.

  • Michelle February 3, 2008, 5:16 pm

That is too funny! I guess it is only funny since it is not my kid. For my 5 year old finding her artwork in the recycling bin throws her into a fit. My 2 year old is pretty mellow and it is just his dear sister who sets him off!

  • Andrea February 3, 2008, 6:53 pm

Only -20?!?! Lucky! We’ve below -30 for the past week or so…now it’s finally about -24 and everyone’s talking about how NICE it is outside! haha…yeah, it’s crazy. And so far we’ve had no wars about the mittens!! yay! The only thing that Tate really doesn’t like is when I put a whole SNOWSUIT on him (like when we had to go grocery shopping and it was -35!!!). Yeah…he didn’t like that…but oh well. :) It’s WARM out now…right? (NOT!)

    Changing a sloppy poopy diaper…meltdown

Taking away something dangerous he thinks is a toy…meltdown

Picking him up when he would rather walk but he is just going too slow and you’re in a hurry…meltdown

    Putting on a snow suit…priceless

giving her an apple and without thinking cut it into slices!! The horror!! It must be peeled but not cut up.

I’m glad it is not that cold right now. It is a nice balmy 33 F and foggy.
