I Spoke too Soon!

Published by on

I never should have written that post about Georgia being handy!

It was definitely ‘premature’!

You're in Big Trouble Chickie!
“FORRY MOM FORRY!”

Then as I was cleaning up her mess.

Mess = Nivea spread all over the bedroom and lipliner scribble on my bureau!

She says, “You cleaned up my BIG MESS. You’re a very GOOD girl Mommy!”

Hmmf! You bet your ass I am Georgia!

If you’re wondering what I was doing while she was ransacking my bedroom? Well, I was picking glass out of her lego table; that’s where she broke the musical snowglobe that made it through three older siblings!

You are so NOT HANDY Georgia!

Isn’t it just like that? As soon as you compliment your kid, it backfires… like I’ll say what a good sleeper my son is and then he won’t sleep at all that night.

glittersmama · December 13, 2007 at 11:31 pm

Nivea. yuck.

Auntie Gayle · December 14, 2007 at 12:04 am

I’m sorry MK, but that photo and story is freaking hilarious. How can anyone not get a huge belly laugh from that..I sure did!

Michelle · December 14, 2007 at 12:20 am

Oh goodness. So sorry! Yes, you should never say nice things about your children in your blog, they’ll turn around and make you sorry that you did the very next minute! At least you stopped to take some photos…

jenB · December 14, 2007 at 12:29 am

Same thing here, with zinc ointment. Twice. So far only I have broken a glass ornament though. hee! She is so cute, I hate it when they do naughty things, you can’t enjoy the adorableness for a few minutes.

xo

Tasha · December 14, 2007 at 12:42 am

Haa Haa Haa, sorry but I howled!!!!

Michelle · December 14, 2007 at 12:54 am

Sounds like she had quite a day. Like hurricane with the mommy vacuum following behind her

Amanda · December 14, 2007 at 5:31 am

OMG! That had to have been quite the mess. Kind of like Thanksgiving – 6 hours to cook, gone in 15 minutes… 5 minutes to make the mess, 4 hours to clean it up!! Yet despite all that she is still gorgeous!

Deb · December 14, 2007 at 7:16 am

Nasty! Well, she keeps you hopping! :)

Susy-Q · December 14, 2007 at 7:47 am

So typical! Every time my husband and I compliment something our son does, he goes and does the opposite! Like:

He has been sleeping so well = wakes up 4 times that night

I love how he eats everything we offer him = he won’ touch his plate for supper

He is so gentle with other children = pushes a girl off a scooter at playgroup

I could go on….

Safire · December 14, 2007 at 8:14 am

Hahaha…great picture!

Kait · December 14, 2007 at 8:24 am

That’s so funny! Of course not so much to you. Gavin used to love drawing on the walls and doors with crayons if I turned my back for a second.

Keara · December 14, 2007 at 10:42 am

Oh no! That is a great picture!

lace · December 14, 2007 at 10:53 am

oh, my! That is such a great picture. I have a picture of my niece sitting in a giant pile of Kleenex after having pulled everyone out of a brand new box.

Not as hard to clean up as lotion and lipstick.

Heather · December 14, 2007 at 1:32 pm

I can’t stop laughing; she’s so cute even when she’s in big trouble…then, again, I didn’t have to clean up the messes, did I?! :) Mine makes plenty of his own…I feel your pain. :)

Happy Geek · December 14, 2007 at 2:37 pm

Nivea eh? Arrg.

Jaime Stephens · December 14, 2007 at 3:00 pm

What a mess! But you know it could have been worse… trust me diaper rash cream is impossible to get out. My daughters got into the jar and covered themselves, the carpet, the tables and as many books as they could. What was I doing while they got into that mess? Cleaning up the poopy mess that my potty training daughter left for me… oi!

Carissa · December 14, 2007 at 3:08 pm

that reminds me of my little sister when she was little! we found her in the closet with a face full of desetin. she still loves the smell of it to this day.

bree · December 14, 2007 at 3:41 pm

oy! now that is a mess! but look at that face….makes it hard to be mad at her I am sure :) hehe

Lisa · December 14, 2007 at 4:02 pm

LOL That is a great picture. Save that to show her when she is older.

Teresa · December 14, 2007 at 4:48 pm

HA HA HA!!! I love it, she is so cute and I love the fact that she was making another mess while you were in the other room cleaning up the first one. : ) I can totally relate and feel much comfort in the fact that others are experiencing the same thing as me. :)

Naomi · December 14, 2007 at 4:53 pm

Yikes! Good mommy.

mama k · December 14, 2007 at 5:48 pm

Oh no! This is what I have to look forward to I’m afraid.

Good Girl Mommy!! :)

Andrea · December 14, 2007 at 8:05 pm

haha…it’s so nice when they compliment you on cleaning up THEIR mess, isn’t it? Yikes…hopefully she becomes handy once again after this! :)

Jenny M · December 14, 2007 at 11:04 pm

OY! Well, at least she knows how to moisturize. Seriously though, hope it came out or your bedroom is the easy cleaner arena

Mefeng · December 14, 2007 at 11:46 pm

Hmm, Georgia with the big mess. I could just laugh with her words..you are a very good girl, mommy..cleaning up my big mess.

Jamie · December 15, 2007 at 6:52 am

LOLOL!!

You know, I’m so glad it’s not just me.

Colleen · December 15, 2007 at 11:06 am

Zoe has already broken a snowglobe… but hasn’t gotten her hands into the Nivea yet! I’m sure the time will come.

Deanne S. · December 15, 2007 at 12:13 pm

Glad you got your card reader back – your pictures are priceless!

Tracy · December 15, 2007 at 3:35 pm

You might not be laughing right now, but one day you will look back on that picture and really appreciate those memories.

OMSH · December 15, 2007 at 8:46 pm

I don’t mean to laugh, but I AM…snow globe and then THIS? It just wasn’t her day (or yours, rather).

Georgia, give your mom some room!

leslie · December 16, 2007 at 6:00 am

…yes, well….you should see how the 2 year old is doing with the living room painting…next, he’s putting up the tree!

Jenny M · December 17, 2007 at 3:19 pm

I can definitely relate to the good mommy comment- I was told I did a good job when I found a snow plow today=)

Denette · December 17, 2007 at 11:02 pm

lololol! She would make a good partner in crime with my 3 yr old!

Allison · December 18, 2007 at 12:49 am

OMG that is funny–not soo funny for mommy, but funny for us readers.

That reminded me of my daughters. im not a huge dipe rash ointment user–i like cornstarch. well…
Lili at the age of 2ish decided to sprinkle that cornstarch around generously. and when i say generous i mean it….perhaps the carpet had a rash, or the couch or her head body or a trail of cornstarch from one end of the living room to the other. then two yrs later her sister at the ripe age of 2 decides that perhaps the same living room carpet and the same couch but a different little girls head and body needs seasoning…oi oi oi. im fast forwarding ahead 2 yrs from now and im sure miss georgia will follow suit. perhaps after two id learn to put the shaker of cornstarch out of reach…rofl..prolly not

katie bowen · December 18, 2007 at 7:49 pm

hahhaha…i love it! we have disasters like this whenever i take my eyes off of james…he’s two years old and a little creative for his own good. while on the phone tonight he shoved the xmas tree light cord into an empty phonejack…who knew that would disconnect the phone?! i’m sure we will have massive amounts of patience for our retirement.

Sheena · December 19, 2007 at 10:51 pm

She’s very good at talking her way out of getting in trouble!

Diane · December 20, 2007 at 12:37 am

Well at least she appreciates your hardwork!! Sorry someone else out there didn’t (the accuser!!) Have a great Christmas!

Amy · December 21, 2007 at 12:23 am

How did you not burst out laughing at that face covered in Nivea though? They can be such little monsters though can’t they? And usually right after you finished telling someone how good they are!

Kilikina · December 21, 2007 at 2:26 pm

Oh my goodness. I am so sorry.

good to be back to blog reading. we just moved so i think i’ll be back online now

Qtpies7~ · January 2, 2008 at 6:14 pm

Oh my word, that is funny! An all too often seen occurance at my house. Not Nivea, but always something. Right now it is Vicks vaporub all over my wall and a picture I have had since I was 15, now ruined.
