Hiding from Mormons …

Published by on

That’s right you heard me correctly … I’ve been hiding from Mormons. It’s not what you think though. I haven’t been hiding from all Mormons, and it’s not that I have mormon issues. In fact, I do on regular basis invite Mormon missionaries into my home for long chats and refreshments (lunch, juice, cookies …). They are really nice kids and I enjoy having them stop by and chat. So don’t label me a ‘Mormon basher’ because I am not. I’ve had dozens of kids visit me and although we’ve never made it past lesson 2, I know all about each pair of kids that comes knocking (parents jobs, #’s of siblings, grandparents, home town, future aspirations, love lives on hold). I am pretty sure they have me on the list of ‘safe’ homes to visit. The current pair always brings freshly baked chocolate chip cookies … it makes the hiding all the more difficult.

The real reason is (it’s so not like me – REALLY), due to my recent illness I am tired, tired, tired. Needless to say, when they arrived to visit me twice this week during the afternoon I was lying in bed still bra less (too much info?) and still in my pj’s. I am sure, if they’re not permitted to drink coffee, watch t.v. or surf the internet, they certainly shouldn’t be cavorting with scantily clad, middle-aged ladies with no undergarments! Right?

In reality, grabbing Georgia and ducking under the covers while whispering, “shhhhh … shhhh … quiet … hide … no talking … don’t look out the window … hide”, well it’s probably the most decent thing to do … honestly … (did I mention I’m a double DD?). That and it beats the hell out of flying out of bed, scrambling to dress and then politely telling them you aren’t taking visitors today. The disappointment … I always feel so bad!

I need to get some GUTS.

Evening, I have been checking on your site and worried. I am glad that you are feeling better. I usually let the Mormons and the Jehovah Witnesses in, but not if I am not in the mood to talk! Take care of yourself. Cindi

I’ve been very worried about you, too. Thanks for popping in and letting us know you’re ok. Take care, and staying under the covers sounds good to me!

Hey, I’m a Mormon and even I have hid from that telltale doorbell when I’m not in a good state to be seeing anyone, let alone scarring two 19 year old boy-men for life! :) Hope you feel better soon!

I’ve been wondering how you are feeling. Any new developments? Treatment options?

Another Mormon here. Don’t be afraid to tell them no! They’re used to that. :D

I would have done the same thing … when you are home in your PJs (no matter what size boobs you have) the last thing you want is to have to rush off and get dressed just to answer the door.
I think we all understand that it wasn’t the Mormons you were hiding from … you would have done the same for the kids selling candy bars or the old lady from next door wanting to borrow a cup of sugar …

Get lots of rest. I’m glad to hear that you are feeling ok though.

I hide from the door and the phone. Can you hide from the phone?

:O( Hey Kim. I just got your email about your store and so I came over right away. I am saddened by the news and even sadder about the code that you’ve put in your coupons. I am so sorry that you’re going through this and I hope that you make a full recovery. I wish you all the luck in the future and I hope that you will continue to update your blog regularly as you really do have a huge bunch of women here who care about you guys.

Mormon’s are AWESOME!! You should try listening to all the discussions. I’m a convert and I’m so grateful for eternal families.

I had (severely) cut down on my blog reading (my kids needed to eat and stuff I guess) so i had no idea you were sick till I got your e-mail.
Soooo sorry. Sometimes life just sucks.

Glad you’re feeling better! Although, tired is especially hard when you still have little ones at home. How disappointing for you to have to miss those cookies!

I’ve been wondering about you too. Sorry that you’re tired, but glad that you’re otherwise feeling well.

BTW, went to read about your Mormon Issues, but the link in your blog sends me to Crabmommy! Now, I love me some Crabmommy, but I thought I was about to read a tale of your lack of Mormon issues. I’m feeling all empty inside now!

Safire · May 1, 2008 at 7:56 am

Hehe…another Mormon here. Listening to the older return missionaries and their stories seems like they are used to having people answer the door in all sorts of states of clothing.

Hope you’re feeling better!

I had a friend in college who’d invite them in and quiz them about mud people. He was a cynical guy…

Wishing you all the best.

I’m so glad to see a new post from you, I’ve been checking…and thinking about you…glad you are doing well, and hope that you get some rest. I think, given your state of dress (and also being a member of the DD club) I would have hidden too :D

If you live in a gated community, they have trouble getting in.

Wow! Me too! Just this minute! I told our maid to tell them I’m out just because I’ve got some more important things to do and now I feel super bad! Yeah! XD
