Here’s to ‘Hope’ing

Published by on

I never should have picked ‘hope’ as my inspirational word for ‘one word February’ after the first day I ran out hopeful images.

Here is an example:

23/365 - 16/28 - hope
I let my kids watch Oprah last week. There was an episode about ‘the worlds most talented kids’. One of the acts were contortionists (maybe from a circus?). They’ve been practicing ever since; in the livingroom next to the glass/metal coffee table. I ‘hope’ they don’t need stitches.

(note to readers: I accidentally deleted every photo but this from my camera for this particular day. The horror when I discovered that this was day 16 whether I liked it or not).

I guess I can ‘hope’ that I am more diligent in the future, when it comes to photo deletions.

Here’s a few more ‘hope’fuls:

22/365 - pink flower

15/28 - hope

21/365 - 14/28 - hope

About nine p.m. EVERY night I get all freaked-out, because I don’t have a picture and start taking photos of my nineteen year old’s valentine bouquet (don’t ask)! “GO GET YOUR FLOWERS! AND MY CAMERA CARD!” She’s ‘hope’ing that at some point in her lifetime I stop hollering orders down the basement stairs. (I know I can, I know I can)

24/365 - 17/28 - hope
Or my nine year old still wet out of the tub. She’s thrilled (I ‘hope’).

I think you’re supposed to see ‘hope’, then photograph it, NOT take a photograph and then try and see ‘hope’.

Can you see ‘hope’? (psst … if you can tell me!)

What a lovely portrait of your daughter – the focus is perfect. I think your photos definitely reflect hope – there’s always hope to be found in children and flowers. Even more so in a Valentine’s bouquet :) For me it brought a hope for spring.. it’s still -9 today here in Ontario and we got a good dose of snow yesterday… again…

They are such pretty shots. I love the depth of field. Gosh, I need a new lens. Or a camera that uses new lenses and not just its built-in crappy lens. I see the most hope in those buds…hope they’ll open! :)

I love it when my kids think they can just learn something immediately!

Your pictures amaze me! They really do. I really get a lot of enjoyment out of them. Whether they are black/white or full of color, they do send Hope to me. Thanks, Cindi

I love that first one. The black and white is great with all the blurry movements. I totally feel you on the “Hop”ing the furniture doesn’t get broken!

My oldest boy is flexible in a really creepy way. Like… has no bones at all. Use to lower his bottle into his mouth using his feet. You get the idea. He does yoga poses that he holds for a long time, poses that his Nana envies. He’s developmentally delayed and was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum. Whenever I worry about his future… I think about him maybe making a living as a contortionist.

Your daughter has such beautiful eyes!! So expressive and soulful!

I HOPE you liked that comment. ;-)

Lol! Good luck with your little contortionists!

I think that hope can be found before you take the picture and inspire you to capture the moment, or you can find it in a picture already taken. Hope is in the eye of the beholder. But no matter what, these pictures are wonderful!

1) the first pic immediately sent me to my childhood. my sister’s & i used to do the EXACT same thing…dreaming of the circus the whole time. that could easily have been a picture of my sisters & i.

2) zoomed in flower shots always make me think of…well…nevermind. i have been accused of having a ‘one-track-mind’… i’m just sayin’…

3) amazing. breathtaking. your kids are gorgeous. i’ll pay her $10 if your oldest will succumb (up close front face)….the curiosity is overwhelming, lol.

4) ok, sorry. $10 is insulting to a 19yo. but i WAS gonna say $5. should’ve just deleted that portion altogether.

The last picture of your daughter really captures an intensity in her eyes. I like the use of black and white.

some stunning, sharp portrait work – excellent! how are you getting the black background on some of your portraits? are you doing that on photoshop later? works really well anyway.
