Happy Book Day to You!

Published by on

It’s my birthday! Feel free to send $ via paypal to kim (@) mommyknows (dot) com. I promise to spend it frivolously.

Kidding … sheesh!

Kinda …

Anyway, even though I’m one of those bloggers who shamelessly asks for $, I am also one of those bloggers who likes to give you the books laying around her house.

Happy Birthday to me and Happy Book Day to YOU!

I love Jennifer Weiner
Remember a while back, I went Christmas shopping, and came home with a b’zillion gifts for me? Remember the book that I hid from my lovely husband and could hardly wait to read? This is it –> ‘little earthquakes’ by Jennifer Weiner.

The good news is, it’s a fun read! The bad news is, I hopped into to bed early, all excited to read it, flipped it over to read the back cover (I like to know what’s going to happen) and realized that I had ALREADY read it! FRICK, I hate it when they publish the same darn book with different covers! Don’t you? Is it a ploy to make lazy book buyers like me who don’t bother reading the back until they’re all tucked up at home; buy the same book twice? Is it? Probably not, but I’m still not impressed. Pick a cover and stick with it Washington Square Press.

I was going to take it back, but my extreme lazy streak (and MS fatigue) keeps me from looking for receipts and making my way in -30c weather to stores filled with bitchy shoppers to get a refund for a book, I know ONE of you might like.

Here is what the first paragraph on the back of the book says:

Jennifer Weiner’s richest, wittiest, most true-to-life novel yet tells the story of three very different women as they navigate one of life’s most wonderful and perilous transitions: the journey of new motherhood.

If you think you might like to have this, leave me a comment. I’d also like to point out that I don’t think this her wittiest book … I loved, loved, loved ‘Good in Bed’ (I was positive it was about me, when I saw the title!!). I’ll pick just one of you (randomly) to win. Just like all of my other book giveaways, you have to promise to pass it forward.

Happy Book Day to YOU!

All comments and back-links for this post will be entered to win a $25 iTunes Card (includes shipping and handling) in my $25 iTunes Giveaway. ps

Happy Birthday!

Auntie Gayle · December 20, 2008 at 3:45 pm

No, please pick me. I have two daughters-in-law that could identify with the story and would love to read it after me. And I too, have many books to trade with you.

Louise Shelton · December 20, 2008 at 4:11 pm

Happy Birthday :)

I hope I am picked. I have a whole cupboard of books to trade. :D I am such a compulsive bibliophile that I purchased way too many books this year than I could afford to read, lol. So most of them still look as brand new.

But this Christmas I plan to take a few days off and read some ;)

Naomi · December 20, 2008 at 4:29 pm

I was going to enter and then I realized I’ve read this one, too. Oops!

I’d love to read the book! And yes, I’d forward it on afterwards – my house is too small to hold onto anything.
I hate it when I accidentally “reread” too – just did that with a library book. Argh!

Well, I just want to say happy birthday to you and to me!!! What is the likelihood that two strangers on the net manage to run into each other and have the same birthday!

Happy 20th! I think I’m going for about 7-1/4 in dog years.

happy birthday! It’s my husbands birthday today too! (31). :)

do you get jipped on gifts due to the proximity to christmas? my husband usually does (from me that is…his family is good about not)…except he usually gets a birthday present & then no christmas present b/c i can’t come up with another idea & am too impatient to wait till christmas. :) I’m a great wife.

Happy Birthday!!

I agree with you on the book cover changing. One I personally get annoyed at is when they have to change a book cover to match a movie poster if the book was made into a movie. If given the option, I will get the book with the original cover.

I also have dejabook moments. I’ll be reading a book and I know I’ve read this book but then I’ll look at the copyright date and it’s a new book from this year or last. There is no way I could have already read the book but it is way to familiar to have never read it. What is going on! Did I travel to the future and read the book already?

This book sounds great.

Doesn’t it go to show you that you should never judge a book by its cover… as you may never know if you’ve read it before :)

Dara · December 22, 2008 at 1:03 pm

As I’m a new reader with a gazillion books of my own to read, I won’t be asking for the book. I will say that I did love her other books though, so yay for good taste!

I’m so glad I’m not the only lazy one. I have a bag in my car filled with things “I’m going to return” along with the receipts. I tell myself next time I go back to that store I’ll return those items while I’m there. That bag has been sitting in my car for the past three months. And it will probably still be there through the new year.

Happy Birthday!

There was a post you did a LONG time ago, you asked readers to write about their favorite books and there was a couple I was going to try and find (but forgot and lost the list I wrote it on). Did you ever read any of the books people told you about and if so, any you’d recommend? I’m looking for a good laugh!
