Baby Come Back … (one last day for mini-Contest)

Published by on

Georgia’s away for the weekend. I miss her (but I also enjoy the break).

Baby Come Back ...
I snapped this picture as we loaded the mom-mobile up for the drive to Grandma’s (& Poppa’s).

I’ll be happy to have her home tomorrow, although I feel no guilt leaving her with my parents. It’s the one place besides home where I know she comes first and that she is loved. My mom says, “she is a perfect angel”. Hmmmf, doesn’t sound quite like ‘my’ Georgie!

The worst part is … she’ll demand a full pancake, egg and bacon breakfast the first few days she is home. She gets a bit spoiled.

Re-training begins tomorrow!

Do your kids spend much time with their grand parents?

All commenters will be entered to win a pair of Bical Grippers. I will randomly draw a winner on Monday, March 17th, 2008.

My kids spend tons of time with my mom because she lives nearby. But they only see my husband’s folks once a year.

I didn’t trust that my kids would come first when in my parents care. Sad, but wasn’t going to leave them where I didn’t feel comfortable.

It’s great that Georgia gets special time with your parents. Do Sam & Lizzy get jealous that she goes and not them??? Because both my boys have to both go to Nana & Grandad’s together or there is an uproar!
My mum looks after the boys every Wednesday, and she has done ever since Ethan was 1 year old. And they have sleepovers every now and then which is great for us!

LOL at the breakfast demands and “re-training” … too funny!

I am very lucky as my mom watches my daughter while I work part time. Unfortunately my dad passed away just before my daughter was born and my husband’s family is several states away and haven’t even seen her yet.

Sure hope Georgia has lots of fun – and doesn’t come back tooooo spoiled!

My husbands parents are divorced and live as far apart as possible considering they live within Canada–one is on Vancouver Island and the other in Halifax! We live in Montreal and my parents are close by. My son sees his grandparents once a week but he is still very attached to his Mommy. I don’t expect to be able to leave him there for a weekend for a while yet!

My husband is military so we don’t live near family. We see the grandparents every couple of months. It’s not enough and I rarely get a break from the kids. My daughter’s birthday is today, the 17th, so we’d love to win the grippers!

When my kids come home from Gramma and Grampa’s, we need a few days for ‘deprogramming’.

Oh yes. As much as we can – they don’t go stay alone, though. J gets too homesick and H is too much of a handful. J is actually closest to MY grandparents – I have all four of them living – and they are from 67-73 and in great health. The 73 year old grandpa, Poppi, take J out on the 4-wheeler and around in his jeep on their land; then his wife, Granny, goes shopping with us (they both come up and stay about once every six weeks even though we go home and visit) :) Then the other two get out and Poppa takes her around the river in the golf course to see what they can see see see & Nene just lets her be and keep a close watch and J loves that. My parents and dh’s parents all still work full time – I think that is why they are close, but don’t get to do as much with them. I love that Georgia gets to go stay and will – My envy goes out to you girl!!!! :)

My three year old spent a LOT of time with my parents when he was a baby (I was working and in college at the time). But now that we have a new little one, it seems there are less trips to “Granny’s”. Two of my siblings are still in high school and both my parents work full-time so they do have less free time. However, my kids spend a few hours a week with MY grandmother who is nearly 80. She loves our little visits! And it gives me time to run to the grocery store across the street!

Well, I may be too late for the giveaway, but I still wanted to comment! We live with my mom and dad and as a single mom, they have been a very strong support system for me (and my kids, especially Taylor) She LOVES her Nana and Papa to pieces, and I’m not sure what she would do without them. Some of her favorite times are going to the dump with her Papa (gross, isn’t it?) and listening to “Rock and Roll” in the big white truck!!! Have a great week, Kim..Hope Georgia had a blast!

Feel the same way about my parents. Too bad they are across the Atlantic… no adult weekends for me and my husband anytime soon. :)

My in-laws live across the country so the kids rarely see them, my parents live about 7hours away but are here about once every 2 months and they stay for about a week. They make a real effort to know what the kids are up to in between visits as well so the kids are quite close to them

Safire · March 17, 2008 at 7:19 am

Nope, when the grandparents live 3000 miles away, they rarely get to see the grandkids. Although we do try to get together on the webcam often so at least my daughter knows who they are by sight. In person…it’s another story!

Unfortunately, no…we live about 5 states away…but the time they do have together is really “quality” time…which I feel like makes up for the “quantity” right now. :)

My older ones spent and still spend alot of times with my parents. The little ones are a handful and they live on the lake so not yet. But in a few years I will send them over for the weekend:)

Tee · March 17, 2008 at 9:24 am

Great picture! And it’s great she gets to spend time with the grandparents and that (other than the spoiling), you have no qualms about that time spent together! Too many kids come back from grandpa with some crazy ideas in their noggin…

Yes, my daughter spends a ton of time with my parents. We’ve been in the process of moving for the past few weeks so I think she’s spent nearly as much time with them as with us lately!

Naomi · March 17, 2008 at 10:17 am

We’re lucky enough to live a few minutes’ walk away from my parents. Too close for my husband’s taste, but it’s really great. I spent summers with my grandparents, one month on each coast. I can’t imagine giving my kids up for that long. Overnight is hard enough!

My mom-in-law is only a 8 minute drive from our house – love it. I agree, certainly don’t hesitate to leave them as they will be spoiled rotten and well cared for there. My parents are in Calgary, but we still see them about once/month, pretty lucky there too!

Andrea · March 17, 2008 at 10:37 am

My oldest is 2.5, my parents baby sit very little just because we live a bit far. We have a very large family (my parents) so my son has lots of kids to play with. Amelia is 7 months and doesn’t get left with anyone but mom and dad yet (still nursing). As for my husbands parents, they visit a lot, but I haven’t felt confident enough with them to leave the precious ones with them yet. =) I liked reading others responses.

lace · March 17, 2008 at 11:05 am

My parents and I get to see my nieces alot. They take care of the oldest about 5-6 times a week. She often stays over as well. The littlest comes over about 2-3 times a week and stays at least once a week.

My baby sees my parents about every other month or so. They live kind of far away. She only sees my husband’s parents once or twice a year. It’s a bummer, but that’s the way it is for now.

My IL’s popped by for a visit last night. They live about 6 hours away so it was a real surprise visit! I wish that our girls could spend more time with their family. My Dad comes down once a year for a month, but that’s about it.

Hopefully Georgia enjoyed her time and that “reprogramming” her isn’t too hard! LOL.

My daughters spend as much time as they can considering the 7 hr car ride….they do spoil them though:)

I’ll be heading to my mom’s next week. She’s watching my girls and I get to paint her kitchen and laundry room. I’m not sure who is getting the better end of the deal!
