Baby Bunnies

Published by on

If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagr.am then you’ll know that we have a new addition to our family.

Look who Lizzy snuck home in her purse. What should we name him?

His name is TJ (I call him, “Charlie”). Elizabeth brought sneaked him home in her purse from a rodeo she was in a couple of weekends ago. I think Charlie is a much better name, and more importantly it makes my children CraZy that I call him Charlie, which is largely the point. It’s also been pointed out to me, by the kitty smuggler herself that his name is spelled ‘Teajay’, but I refuse, and if and when I have to write his name down it will be TJ or maybe even Charlie. HA!

Seeing as I already have one unwanted animal in the house (did I mention Mr. MK and I are allergic?), we stopped by a friends farm and I decided to let the girls each pick out a rabbit. It’s impossible to turn your back on a baby bunny! Honestly, it is … I tried.

georgia & chica

This is Chica. She’s lovely, quiet, and friendly. I’m a wee bit in love. She belongs to Georgia (poor, poor Chica).

chica

Yes, umm … this is Chica too! Have I told how stinkin’ cute this bunny is? How sweet?

maisy

This is Maisey. She’s cute too, but she fast, wily and always planning an escape. I knew the day would come when I was happy I’d kept the pool cleaning net around (even though we no longer have a swimming pool) and that day has arrived (again and again) thanks to Maisey. Pool nets are great for capturing rascally rabbits.

Mr. MK pretty much thought I’d lost my marbles, but agreed that they’d have to stay (You can’t turn your back on a baby bunny. He tried.) He’s spent the last couple of nights building a 3 storey bunny mansion. It’s nothing like the naughty bunny mansion in California. No grotto in site.

The man child is helping to build the bunny mansion. This is the only screwing going on around here!

Alrighty then!

Good grief, Chica is adorable! My daughter has also been asking for a rabbit. So far I am holding out… must be strong…!

The human to pet ratio isn’t looking too good for you at this point. They might take over soon!

OH MY GOSH!! WHAT have you gotten yourself into, hahaha!!!??? They are all adorable. The bunnies are especially adorable, but I tend to be more of a cat person myself – and allergic to them too. I just take an antihistamine though, and snuggle away!!

Oh my goodness! Look at those little squishy babies. So adorable! They totally deserve a bunny mansion. :)

Yep, they really are cute! One problem though, when they reach “puberty” at around 6 months, they may start to fight. Quite often 2 girl bunnies will fight to be Alpha female, you may have to split them up if that happens.

@wendy, Hmm … I’ll have to keep an eye on them. We actually got a third girl. I hope they don’t all start fighting.
