Are Green Toys going to the dogs? Only in Georgia’s world! Being a small dog lover means this toddler chickie parties with the dogs. Tea parties that is!
Georgia loves her Green Toys! Why wouldn’t she? They’re darn near perfect –> the perfect size, great colors and FUN! She uses them for real food too.
I love Green Toys, because they truly are GREEN. Green Toys are made in the USA (CA to be precise) from recycled milk jugs (yes, the very jugs you rinse out and recycle). On average, every pound of recycled milk jugs used in the making of Green Toys saves enough energy to power the average TV set for 3 weeks! The fact that they are made in the USA means LESS transportation … no fossil fuels wasted getting them across the pacific!
Georgia’s stirring up a little
water soup for her puppy fans.
I am really trying to cut down on STUFF (you know … useless, I can live without it … only lasts an hour kind of STUFF)! I missed the boat with the older kids, but with Georgia there is still a small glimmer of hope that I can keep the junky toys to a minimum and fill her toy box (hopefully just 1/2 full and not overflowing) with toys that are good for her imagination and the earth too!
Speaking of the earth, WHAT IN THE HELL IS WITH ALL OF THE PACKAGING? Plastic, metal ties, more plastic, cellopane, tape, cardboard, more metal ties. Is this some kind of Chinese attempt to torture us? (I’m watching you China!) Remember back in the good ‘ole days, when all you needed to have on hand Christmas morning was some extra batteries? Now you can add to that list, wire cutters, box cutter and the patience of a saint. Unless your kiddies are opening Green Toys that is, then even your three year old can just open the recycled cardboard packaging all by themselves and get right down to play. Honest … you just open the box. What a concept!
Attention ALL toy manufactures: WE DON’T LIKE PACKAGING! From this day forward I will take note to the amount of packaging you wrap around toys, and if it’s more than absolutely necessary it’ll stay at the store on the shelf, never to be purchased by ME! NEVER – EVER!
TAG –> If you are reading this, you have been tagged! Blog and let toy manufacturers know we’re tired and annoyed at all the redundant packaging. We insist they be more responsible! Please :)
Georgia breaks out into song. A happy kid, is truly the sign of a great toy.
GREEN TOYS = GREAT TOYS
Green Toy sent us the Cookware & Dining Set, I have already purchased the Tea Set for Santa to leave under the tree. I’m adding the Indoor Gardening Kit to our wish list.

Hello, It is ironic that your topic is about packaging. My husband and I have been discussing the same thing! It is amazing how many supposedly
“Green” things come with the worst kind of packaging materials!!!!!
I can’t believe they still use packing peanuts, either. Cindi
Oh.My.Gosh.The.Packaging! I am right there with you, its insane and not neccesary at all!!! Im going to check into these green toys!!! I have two boys and I swear they get the worst packaging ever! army men, cars everything is tied down and twisted and surrounded by crap!

oh honey i am with you 100% on the packaging. i saw an infomercial selling a special tool for opening those crizayzy plastic ones that cause injury.
stop making the stupid packaging. i know they are made to be theft deterrents. how about requiring stores to actually hire staff to keep an eye on things?

You know, I’ve looked at those several times and thought about it… you just may have given me an idea for my daughter! You are now my hero and must be treated as such. Come over and I will make you cookies and Amarula and milk. Yes, yes I will.
What a great post! I’d heard of these before but hadn’t ever seen pictures (and to see them with your lovely daughter is even better). :) Thanks for the tip!

Thanks so much for this! I will be checking them out!

YES! packaging! ugh. & i’ll add boxes from Amazon to the list. I have a standing order on subscribe & save for kids probiotics. A VERY small plastic jar of probiotic powder. The box they ship it in is always enormous, thus requiring lots of plastic padding. ugh.

I agree with you about the amount of packaging – it’s frightening!
My boys LOVE Lego, so we have got some for them from Santa. But the amount of tiny little plastic bags that we will have to open on Christmas morning? Crazy!!
Georgia’s Green Toys look very cute, and those photos of her playing “tea parties” are just adorable!

I have never heard of Green Toys before. Learn something new everyday!
I, too, have been whittling down the junk we have and filling the toy bins with good toys that stimulate the imagination. I have donated a lot of the crap toys to charities. This past year, I only bought them toys on their birthdays. The rest of the time, we did fun stuff like going to the museum, to the park, etc. I did spend money on books but that’s OK. We can always use more books. I’m excited this Christmas because they are going to get new toys but GOOD toys… wooden… no batteries… stimulate the imagination.
My little porker turns 1 in March. Gonna check out Green Toys to see if there is anything there that might be great for him. :)

The picture rocks !! It is great. Also, I totally agree your point regarding toys manufacturers(packaging). By sister bought a robot for her son and the packaging was hectic. Wish toy manufacturers want to see this post :)
Talking of green toys.. I wish we wouldnt constantly splurge out on plastic toys and junk for our kids. Our over consumerism is a disease.. There is no worth at all in these toys.. What kids need is good old fashioned wooden toys.. which i would call Green toys anyway.. biodegradable and hold “intrinsic value”. In there earhty wooden warm feel and glow.
– bring back the olden days! and im only 30 :-)
lol this post is so true. I almost dread Christmas for the pure fact of having to untwine those twisted wire bits that they always secure toys on to the boxes with. I remember my nephews JCB truck that I bought him had about 200 of these things – all wrapped round the wheels, even one securing the driver in the cab lol.
As for batteries, I’ve learnt to have supplies of every size of battery in….JUST IN CASE.
Happy Christmas everyone :-)

yes! i’ve seen these. one of my friends opened a (highish end) toy and clothing store here in lil’ ol’ Vermont. See when we’re stuck inside with all this freezing cold weather we need some cool toys!! I saw these and they looked awesome! Maybe santa will remember to get back there to get them. I think they have free shipping right now too.

I was a little confused about the dog comments but it is great to see recycled materials being used more and more. Toys are a great product to make out of recycled materials as they dont need to last forever.
Our company have something produced in China, we will consider package as simple as possible. In most cases, package is absoultely kindda waste of material.platics, wood, paper card, etc.
Be green to save the earth. Green toys, and gree things…Thanks so much for this!
She is so adorable, reminds me of my daughter at that age
Yeah packageing is a waste and annoying, i’ve seen some japanese products where the packaging is usefull as well, i remeber this one where the box disassembled and the instruction manual was printed on the inside.

It’s the hard plastic bubble packs that really bug me. You need a hacksaw to get into the things and, understandably, my three year old doesn’t understand why I have to root around in my toolbox before she gets to play with he new present.

Cool post dude. The little girl looks so cute there! I think toys like that are great. I’ll be getting some for my kids.
Hello. This is kind of an “unconventional” question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time Thanks for any help you can offer here.
