An Ode to Two! (psst … don’t forget the contest!)

Published by on

I was cooking dinner (whoohoo) and Georgia was eating a DQ Dilly Bar.

“Muma, me want more ice freme.”

“Yes Georgia, after you eat supper you can have more ice cream.”

(note: I often say, “YES” before I mean NO to lighten the blow … this time it just didn’t work (not fair!).

I want ice cream
I want ice freme ….

It not fair!
It’s not fair …

It's just not fair
It’s just not fair …

It's not fair .... not fair ...

And it went on and on and on …. two is such a fun age!

She did eat her supper and then she did have some more ‘ice freme’, but only after singing the ‘ice cream song’ for me … several times … because, well as Georgia says, “it’s just not FAIR”.

Our version: “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!”

Her version: “I freme, I freme … I freme a I freme!”

Oh my, kudos to you to be able to stick to your guns when faced with that cutie pie!! Adorable!!

Michelle · January 9, 2008 at 9:22 pm

I’d take a two year old over my crabby, somewhat sleep depreived, overexcited about the holidays still.. 5 year old. The kid is driving me totally crazy!!!!

glittersmama · January 9, 2008 at 9:22 pm

Two sucks, but your baby is so gorgeous. Even screaming.

Tara · January 9, 2008 at 9:23 pm

fabulous pictures!

Cocoa · January 9, 2008 at 9:28 pm

I wish I could scream and cry for ice cream like that! Kids have all the fun…

Hannah · January 9, 2008 at 9:33 pm

I hear ya cluckin’, sista!
I used to have a 2-year-old myself. And he had the temper tantrum & screaming DOWN PAT.

Michelle · January 9, 2008 at 10:07 pm

I’m right there with you, two is such a…challenge sometimes, isn’t it? *And* I’ve got the “somewhat sleep depreived 5 year old” with yet. another. fever. Three, count ’em, three days of school and she’ll have absence #1 of 2008 tomorrow. Someone please help me!

Deanne S. · January 9, 2008 at 10:07 pm

What cute pictures….it’s always cute when it’s someone else’s child :)

Mefeng · January 9, 2008 at 10:09 pm

I love to read your story. I can imagine Georgia sang I Freme song ;-) My 1.5 year old daughter says Iceee when she wants ice cream.

Jaime Stephens · January 9, 2008 at 10:15 pm

She looks just like my 19 month old… I guess perhaps with the 2nd it starts a lot sooner? I have my days where I sit here going good golly Miss Malie!

PS…. DQ Dilly Bars are getting so small these days, you have to eat 2 ;)

Heather · January 9, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Cute and defiant…why does it have to be so hard?!?

jw4mkc · January 9, 2008 at 10:42 pm

I would imagine she wasn’t too happy about the camera in her face, too. I love pics like this, but it makes my girls even worse! :)

lace · January 9, 2008 at 10:54 pm

We are passed 2 with my niece and on to 3. I think 3 might be harder.

I would love to post pictures of my niece on my blog but since I don’t have her parents permission, I don’t. But boy do I wish I could. We had a makeup day today and it reminded me of Georgia’s makeup day.

Deb · January 9, 2008 at 10:55 pm

Reasoning with a two-year-old…next to impossible. Congrats – you did it! :)

MDB Mommy Sheena · January 9, 2008 at 11:28 pm

I want more ice freme! Ooo she’s so cute! I’m bracing myself for those 2’s. Oh boy, it will be fun, lol.

I blogged ya on MDB, now I’m gonna blog ya on sophistishe.org =).

Happy Geek · January 9, 2008 at 11:37 pm

Oh the agony!

Caryn B · January 9, 2008 at 11:38 pm

Your little girl is adorable! I could never say no…haha…looking forward to that age! : )

I like how you say yes instead of no…I’ll have to remember that one…

Joa · January 10, 2008 at 12:18 am

Et ça se poursuit même au de-là de 2 ans!

Tanyetta · January 10, 2008 at 12:30 am

Seriously – I want some ice freme too. A LOT OF IT. I’m up too late, working too hard.

Waaaaaaaaa!

Amanda · January 10, 2008 at 5:53 am

Uggh – is this what I have to look forward to in just another year or so!! It’s just not FAIR!!

TheAngelForever · January 10, 2008 at 6:12 am

See, when they are two and do that it is cute . . . now stick a 4 year old in and not too wonderful. BTW – did she ever get more ice freme later on?

Kristian · January 10, 2008 at 7:59 am

Those pictures are GREAT. Thanks for the laugh to kickstart my very early morning. I might go get some “i freme” for breakfast now. Healthy…

Jamie · January 10, 2008 at 8:03 am

“It’s not fair!!” ahh, the fave song of every mama out there!

frannie · January 10, 2008 at 8:39 am

I want ice freme, too!

Danielle · January 10, 2008 at 9:09 am

Its hard to be mad at a face like that! Too cute!

Not the Queen · January 10, 2008 at 9:24 am

What a cutie!

Angella · January 10, 2008 at 10:02 am

Meltdown photos are the BEST!

Safire · January 10, 2008 at 10:15 am

2 really is a spectacular age. (dripping with sarcasm!)

The Park Wife · January 10, 2008 at 10:19 am

Give that beautiful girl some ice cream! Too cute!

Divrchk · January 10, 2008 at 10:25 am

Too funny. Our 2 year old turns 3 in March. I personally think that 3–> 3 1/2 is worse than 2.

Alexia · January 10, 2008 at 10:33 am

Ahhhh loverly…those meltdowns are great aren’t they….we had one just this morning – my son wanted more “dadee” (chapstick) and I thought he had smeared quite enough on his lips *sigh*

katie bowen · January 10, 2008 at 11:15 am

cute even when upset… ;)

thanks for the comment on my boy’s site! we love the calves too!

Teri · January 10, 2008 at 11:27 am

Oh man, I wish I was that cute when I was crying and whinning!!!

Darci · January 10, 2008 at 11:41 am

Such a cute crying face!! :)

Nap Warden · January 10, 2008 at 12:42 pm

Oh are we so there with Miss Peach…only it’s chocolate chip cookies!

Susy-Q · January 10, 2008 at 12:48 pm

I took a few pictures of my son having a meltdown when I was trying to get him dressed to go outside. I showed his Daddy later and said, “See, this is what I had to deal with all day!”. Not really true but hey, hubby ended up doing the dishes and giving the bath!

I think I might go get myself some ice scream out of the freezer.

And by the way, how do you say no to such an angel face?

Pat · January 10, 2008 at 12:58 pm

Awww! Paris Hilton recently made that same face as Georgia does in her second photo!

Carey · January 10, 2008 at 1:10 pm

Shes so cute! Even when its not fair!

Colleen · January 10, 2008 at 1:53 pm

Oh how I’m familiar with that no fair face!

Kellan · January 10, 2008 at 1:57 pm

What a cute story. She is a little doll baby and those are beautiful pictures. Life isn’t fair – is it? I wish we could just eat icecream for dinner – then there’d never be a fuss and I’d never have to cook!! Let’s just start that new trend – how about it?

Thanks for stoppin by my site – very nice to meet you. Hope to see you again soon. Kellan

Laura · January 10, 2008 at 2:48 pm

Too cute…how could you say No…or Yes, LOL

nikkapotamus · January 10, 2008 at 2:59 pm

I think that the red face only makes her hair that much more white :) what a cutie. I agree, my two year old is just as much a tantrum thrower.

Auntie Gayle · January 10, 2008 at 3:13 pm

I would have given you more ice freme before supper, Georgia.;)

Sandy (Momisodes) · January 10, 2008 at 3:32 pm

Oh man, that face! Priceless :) We have a 2-yr with the same face but with brown hair…

“Freme..” oh the hilarity!!!

mama k · January 10, 2008 at 4:06 pm

oh the cuteness is just too much.

though I’m sure it’s not quite so cute when youre the mommy.

Andrea · January 10, 2008 at 7:36 pm

haha…she even looks cute when she’s crying! :) And yeah…that wonderful age of 2…we are about to approach that here! Oh, and I love Georgia’s version of the ice freme song…I think I may change my version to hers…haha :)

Lisa · January 10, 2008 at 8:02 pm

Two is GREAT!!! Life is so full of up’s and downs. They get to feel joy and sorrow all within 5 minutes.

zoe · January 10, 2008 at 9:45 pm

awwww! how could you say know to her??? you must have a will of steel!

Kait · January 11, 2008 at 7:58 am

Two is fun, but three is even better. The second time I removed my son from STANDING on top of the kitchen table, he proceeded to throw a fit including “I don’t want to keep you!”.

ES · January 11, 2008 at 10:06 am

Ah well, kids will be kids. She’s cute!

Jenny M · January 11, 2008 at 2:48 pm

OH yeah- right there with you- shes so cute=). My DS current obsession is school buses though

Cindi Hoppes · January 11, 2008 at 7:56 pm

I am such a sucker for a crying child. It doesn’t matter if the child is mine or someone else’s. For some reason, I can’t take crying. I want them to be smiling. I love the blond hair! Cindi

Audra Marie · January 12, 2008 at 2:50 pm

My youngest turns two February 14th and just like the stores – the season started EARLY! :) I love that you capture all of these moments with your camera – I need to do that more. :)

Great pics. I can’t believe the focus of toddlers is getting what they want. And i guess sometimes we teach them that they need to whine in order to get what they want, and we give in…
