All in All it’s Just Another …

brick KID in the wall?

All in All it's just another ...
YES, that is my son stuck between an unfinished basement wall and our old kitchen cabinets (now our laundry room cabinets/counter).

First thing this morning, just as I was getting out of the shower, I heard bellowing from the basement, “HELP ME, PLEASE, I’M STUCK, MOM, HELP, I’M STUCK“!

Lizzy was standing outside the bathroom door looking a little worried, “um, Mom? Sam, umm did umm something kind of dumb, and he umm needs your help.”

So once again I was running around my house 1/2 naked with a towel on my head.

I headed for the basement, with just a quick peek at the front door, to make sure there were no uninvited customers waiting and watching. The coast was clear, so I headed to our dungeon like laundry room (where I’d sent Sam to find socks), only to find him firmly wedged in the wall. Keep in mind, that is a 2×4 stud on his right. The space he decided to lower himself into was only 4” wide!

What were you thinking dude?

I pulled and pulled and lifted and pulled … I pulled until my towel fell down (oops!) and then I pulled again. I couldn’t get him out!

Then I got my camera, because I knew that he wasn’t dying, and when you’re a member of blog365 you have to take advantage of every photo op you can (it’s kind of like being a paparazzi — mamarazzi I guess you’d call it), even at the expense and discomfort of your children.

“Just hang on Sam and I’ll wake up Dad … he’ll have to CUT YOU OUT!”

“Oh quit your bawling, I’m just kidding!”

Dad to the rescue — just a few minutes later the cabinets were no longer securely fixed to the 2×4 studs and Sam was FREE!

Yippee!

I am hoping it’s a quiet weekend! Cross your fingers for me, OK?

heather h · January 26, 2008 at 1:21 am

Wow, what a way to start the day! Things must be CRAZY around the house for you with all the half naked stuff these days! Just kidding. Seriously, you have to use this photo for blackmail when he gets a little older. You just might be able to get him to clean his room with this one when he’s fifteen!

Kait · January 26, 2008 at 6:36 am

Kristian · January 26, 2008 at 6:54 am

Sam, Sam, Sam! What were you thinking? You’re not supposed to do those kind of things so early in the morning. Wait, at least, until lunch time. It makes me smile to think that MK is getting her “just desserts”:) You know what they say: What goes around comes around!

Auntie Gayle · January 26, 2008 at 9:17 am

PS: Some of your escapes as a child, teenager, and early adult would make excellent blog material. I can think of several. Too bad? there are no photos.

katie bowen · January 26, 2008 at 9:30 am

holy shoot! this is another reason why the entertainment value of kids never seems to fail!

Heather · January 26, 2008 at 9:35 am

I sure do hope you have a quiet weekend after the week you’ve had…do all your weeks have this much excitement?!?

Cindi Hoppes · January 26, 2008 at 9:47 am

You mean no one came knocking at your door when you were running around just out of the shower?! I am sorry, but I couldn’t resist. I am glad your son is fine and probably just a little shaken up. Cindi

Jaime Stephens · January 26, 2008 at 10:49 am

Poor Sam… the boy gets into everything it seems. Oh my gosh I still remember when he cut himself when making a fort with the boxes from your new appliances.

Penny · January 26, 2008 at 11:34 am

That’s pretty scary! I’m glad he’s okay!

Colleen · January 26, 2008 at 12:29 pm

Really…. what WAS he thinking? Did he tell you what he climbed in there for?

It’s just boys, isn’t it? I don’t think it would occur to a girl to do that…

kids can squeeze into the craziest places but the usually need mom to get out. My sister got her head stuck between the stair railings as a kid and my dad did have to cut her out.

Yikes. Poor boy. I bet you he’ll be wondering next time he is tempted to crawl into a small space, “I better not try to fit in there or I might get stuck and then I’ll have to see my Mom naked AND have my picture taken.”

I say, there’s a good lesson ;)

Michelle · January 28, 2008 at 8:49 am

It is amazing what they can get stuck into. When I was a kid a kid at our babysitter’s got her head stuck in the back of the slots of their wooden couch. They had to saw the wood to get her head out!
