There’s No Pleasing Some People!

Published by on

Well one small contrary person.

Georgia asked me to make her a play cake today. We looked on the internet and she pointed out the largest cake possible, I reluctantly agreed. After an early supper, I sat down and made her this cake.

Triple Layer Chocolate Strawberry Felt Cake
Several hours later … I presented it to her with a big –> TaDA!

I expected cheering and clapping. Instead, I received this sort of reaction …

30 Tiny Moments – Day 27

I didn't want Cake ...
Apparently, she wanted a phone!

The joys of parenting! I know how you feel. I made lunch today and it was not what my 6 year old wanted and I got the same reaction. I guess they do out grow it.

witchypoo · February 24, 2008 at 10:01 pm

Dude, I knew it was felt, but I was drooling.

That stings! It’s a fabulous cake. I bet she’ll play with it often once she gets over the grumpy moment!

Audra Marie · February 24, 2008 at 10:27 pm

Okay, how did you make the cake? I caught a picture of mine bawling just today. I can use it for leverage later in life. :)

I love the cake! Georgia’s reaction is also priceless – “like mom can’t you read my mind!”

Tasha · February 24, 2008 at 10:54 pm

That cake looks pretty cool – what did you use for the cake part? Is it all felt with cardboard or something?

Cocoa · February 24, 2008 at 11:30 pm

Oh to be three again and cry when something isn’t just as I expected!

I think your cake turned out fantabulous!

Heather · February 25, 2008 at 9:25 am

I’m glad to know that I’m not the only mom in the universe who thinks (on several occasions throughout the day) that she’s fully met and exceeded the needs of her child (FAR beyond the call of duty) only to receive an all out temper tantrum in return. Sometimes I just can’t wait until we get on the same wavelength…it sure would save a lot of time, effort, and frustration. God help us all! :)

Cindi Hoppes · February 25, 2008 at 9:44 am

You are truly amazing! Your cake looks so good and real! Please send it my way along with your laundry! Cindi
