Tired, sore, wind and sun burnt. That’s just the tip of the ice berg (pun intended).
I am shuffling around barely able to walk! I bought new boots this a.m., they are making me use muscles I didn’t know I had. I am starting to seize up—REALLY!
I wish I could put you all on the top of the mountain, so you could see this in person. It sounds hoaky, but it makes you feel just a little closer to God. It’s breath-taking! My Fuji-pix just doesn’t do it justice.
Lizzy and our ‘nanny’ Mel on the top of Goat’s Eye.
More ski stuff … sorry, but that’s all we did … ALL Day! As you can see from the blue sky, it was a gorgeous day for skiing.
It was also a day of many firsts.
Sam and I skied our first Double Black today. It was steep, full of moguls and it was treed. The Sunshine trail guide says it is one of the meanest ways down the lower half of Goat’s Eye. I’d have to agree.
It dawned on me (just prior to taking this run), while watching the kids ski moguls (much better than I can), that it wouldn’t be long before they leave me behind. It was also was clear to me that I am a pretty good skier, who lags a little in the courage department. I decided that I really need to push myself a little more.
Georgia had a big day too! She had her first lesson, rode the magic carpet on her own and skied her first run. It was cute, cute, cute! I have the video of course! I actually have about a dozen, but I won’t subject you to all of them … maybe just one or two. I’ll have to go through and pick out the best once we are home.
My favorite video of the day is Lizzy skiing the Eagle’s Nest (my favourite run). She takes her dad (the camera man) for a little surprise rie right at the end. Love it!
(Note: as I publish this post, this youtube video still hasn’t propigated?! If you can’t see it … sorry! I am hoping it will show up soon). *Update: switched to Vimeo
I bought a new camera to take skiing. Something small and light that I can fit in my pocket. My D70 is just too darn heavy (and precious) to take skiing. The new camera is about the size of a deck of cards, takes OK pictures and it does video as well.
A sturdy, light weight, reusable bag that makes going green a little hipper. Even better, every bag purchased means a donation will go to The Green Ambassadors, a high school eco-ed program.
Each Bag comes with a hangtag that explains just some of the issues facing the environment today.
