It was way more than just Martha and #thetechshow, however, I did get a few up close and personal shots, so I thought I’d share those first.

Here we have Martha and David Pogue of the New York Times and author of the book, ‘The World According to Twitter’.

David: Martha, don’t turn away from me, you’re ravishing!
Martha simpers: Oh David, stop it, you’re making me blush!

Well maybe, I made that up, but it could happen. Maybe … or maybe not.

Here is another of Martha and Chris Hughes the billionaire 20-something founder of facebook. She may have mentioned him poking her (really). She also told him he looked 13. HA! He has the propensity to turn all shades of red. Poor kid man!

I have to tell you … I LOVE NYC.

I walked limped from my midtown hotel to Central Park. I think this is my favourite photo from the trip.

I loved Central Park, even though I only saw a fraction of it.

From the park, I did a quick tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I started with the Dutch masters. I know Michael Douglas is old and all, but who would have imagined he’d be old enough to sit for Rembrandt?!

I got a little homesick when I saw this. Then I realized, I’d probably end up like this poor woman if I take any more trips without Mr. MK. Don’t tell him about this, he’ll kill me ban me from the internet forever.

This is the Empire State Building.

It looks way better from further away.

It’s spectacular at night from ‘the top of the rock’.

This of course is Times Square. It’s full of hustle and bustle day and night. I loved it.

On my last day there, I did the tourist thing and hopped a red double-decker bus to take in the sights. It was gray, cloudy and cold.

This is the Flat Iron Building, we have a similar building in Edmonton, I’ll have to get a photo of it too.

This is an old church in the ‘the village’.

This was taken on Broadway, in Soho, looking downtown. I love all the old building in New York.

Speaking of Broadway, I went to the Broadway Musical ‘HAIR’. It was fabulous!

I think I might like to live here.

There were so many things I got to see, but not do …

The bus whizzed by the Brooklyn Bridge.

and Ground Zero. The magnitude of this site, it’s unbelievable.

It’s such a great combination of the very old and the very new, just like in this photo!

One of these days, I’ll go back. I’ve got a huge long list of things to do and see and eat.

Right now!

It wasn’t an elaborate hoax by Stacey and Clinton to get me on TLC’s ‘What Not to Wear‘. Those of us that spend and inordinate amount of time wearing fleece pajama pants live in fear of that day. Although, if TLC ever happens upon this blog, I wouldn’t be totally against the idea.

I want to be a part of it, New York, New York …

As you can tell, I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve been around the world, but I’ve never been to the BIG apple. Did I mention, that I am excited? I’ve been singing ‘New York, New York’ enough that Mr. MK has insisted I stop, unless he starts to resent my good fortune! I know, I’m no Frank Sinatra, but really … spoil sport!

If New York weren’t enough, the reason I’m traveling to New York is even more exciting. Me, the woman, who said, ‘crafts, schmafts‘ is attending a taping of the MARTHA STEWART show! Squeal! I think I outed my closeted love for Martha in my ‘Stark Raving Mad‘ post, it’s the one where I crafted Sam’s old t-shirts in to panties for Georgia (and he was mortified).

Wow, that is one we could use. My husband claims that if it weren’t for my ’shoddy teeth’ we wouldn’t need our health benefits. We have 3 girls, ages 6, 5, & 2 and we keep up regular brushing for their teeth, but I honestly had NO idea I was supposed to be flossing them too! I don’t even floss my teeth often enough..gotta step it up a notch!

Do you hear the word dentist and shudder with fear? Georgia doesn’t, she hears dentist and thinks ’sparkly diamond rings’ (her dentist has a to-die-for prize-chest). For that I am very grateful (not for the prize-chest, but her comfort level in the dentist’s chair), especially because she had to visit him way too much over the past few weeks. She’s a trooper!

The parenting guilt, ACK! Cavities! She had cavities, more than one!

Most of all, it was upsetting to me that we hadn’t taken sufficient care of her teeth. I was also worried about getting her through repeat dentist visits. Then I realized, that there is no point in dwelling on ‘coulda, woulda, shoulda’! It was time to get Georgia’s mouth healthy and keep it that way! It turned out to be a positive tear free experience for us all.

Part of me wants to tell you that, two of my four children have never had a cavity (sorry I just had to get that in there) and Georgia has bad teeth, but what’s really important, is that Georgia’s oral care routine needs stepped up a notch (or two even) to keep her mouth as healthy as it can be.

Georgia’s dental visits coincided with a request from the experts at Oral-B Stages to share the importance of building good oral care habits at a young age with my readers.

Earlier this week we received a wonderful package of Oral-B products for the kids in the mail, along with a great informational book, ‘Olivia the Toot Fairy and the Truth about Teeth‘.

The kids of course are thrilled with the new toothbrushes and toothpaste (all geared for their age/stage). Mr. MK and I read through the info book with the kids reinforcing the importance of keeping their mouths healthy, by brushing and flossing daily, NOT just running your toothbrush under the tap and saying you brushed them (SAM … I’m watching you!).

For Georgia, Mr. MK and I have stepped up our commitment to keep her teeth in the best shape possible. Twice daily thorough brushing, daily flossing, no snacks after brushing at night.
