She Keeps Me on my Toes!

Posted on 08 June 2008 by MommyKnows

I might be ill and could use a little TLC and rest. Unfortunately, Georgia didn’t get the memo.

I took her with me to a Bridal Shower today.

It went really well, except when:

  • Georgia started her hair on fire (votif candle on table).
  • Georgia decided to take off her skirt and panties in the middle of the venue after jumping in mud puddles, she couldn’t possibly wear a wet skirt.
  • Georgia opened the car door as we drove down the highway (going 65 mph or 110 kmh).

Anyway, we’re home now … in one piece. Just a little less hair.

    Hey, hope you’re doing okay.

At least you weren’t at a baby shower… the celebrant would probably be having second thoughts!

Oh my! I don’t know how I would handle that if I were in that situation. Maybe I would have gone nuts or laugh at what had happened.

I say it’s one big adventure with Georgia! Are you going to tell her what happened in the baby shower when she’s 16 or 20?

Opening the door at 65mph – I remember doing it when I only 6 or 7. I don’t know who was more scared – Me, Dad driving or the on-coming car!

When I was 3, I opened the door to our Bronco on the highway. My brother was in the outside seat. Luckily, my Mom made sure we all had our seat belts on (remember, this was back in the early 70s…who was wearing seat belts??). Anyhow, you can imagine the commotion when the door opened. We were going fast enough that the wind blew it shut, but for a brief instant, I think my Mom’s (and my brother’s) heart must have skipped a beat!

Here’s to being young! My wife and I are expecting our first in November. Yahoo!!

Sure miss your posts Kim. Hopefully things are going well for you and that you are getting much deserved rest… hopefully not too much crazy antics from Miss Georgia! At least life with her is never boring eh?

OMG, how do you moms do it? I would have lost all control with the hair incident let alone the stripping and the mud. Please tell me it is a gradual ramping up to the age they are into everything and it is easier until you learn how to do it…

  20. Maria Terry Says:

I made the comment above yesterday and I have had this post on my mind all day. I have a suggestion that is going to sound a bit like my answer to the problems you have are to take a pill but in fact it is not true at all.I think pills at the very least dull who you are and your experience of life so I am against it. I would like to suggest St Johns Wart. It helps be stay even and not overreact and it does not have any side effects for me at least. I am no doc but I just wanted to suggest you might look into it and see what you thought.

My daughter also gives me hard time like Georgia gives you. But I enjoy it ! But opening the door at 65mph – surely sounds scary!

Wow. I don’t think I’ll spread this story around, I might lose clients as they change their mind about family life. ;)
