Whoa, that's such a cool idea. I love words and wish more of them would be adopted instead of forgotten. Having a word of the day would be a great idea to add to your blog too. It's always good to not only learn new words but recall the ones we may have forgotten over time. Nice post.

It sees that each generation is dropping words and the English language is becoming less sophisticated and perhaps less elegant. The proof is evident in reading English literature from late 1800s and early 1900s. This is a great post. I think one contributing reason could be that our educational system is in trouble.

I am a bit overwhelmed when I see even headlines on national TV and in newspapers where words are misspelled or misused. Are we evolving an illiterate society? AM

I never thought about it. But I guess words can disappear if they're not used, just as new words are appearing all the time.

The English language is in decline by design. The dumbing down of people, their language and subsequent lifestyle is part of big business agenda.

Why ? because all big business want is a society of dumbed down workers. Or modern slaves. I shall go choose a word now - have a good day folks!

Check out tpuc.org too see what im on about :)

Although I'm pugnacious about the use of proper English, I must admit that languages are living entities that grow, transform, and mutate. I think that we should protect the proper usage of our language, but we must also allow it to grow. As an example, consider all the French words that crossed over into English - possibly a result of the Norman Conquest - and the present day attitude of some European governments wishing to keep their language "pure."

I welcome new words and new functions for them, because it will inject life into our language, as it should.
