MommyKnows is on the Road – Day 2

Posted on 22 July 2008 by MommyKnows

1 Bear (see photo below)
1 Bald Eagle (I’m too slow)

We arrived in Prince Rupert about 9 p.m., very anxious after 800km of driving to spend the night at the cool little inn that I booked. Unfortunately, the closest we got to our room was down the block. A natural gas leak meant that the road was closed off and the entire city block had been evacuated. That was about the time that Georgia peed her pants. I too wanted to pee my pants! Poor kids and poor parents who have to waste precious vacation time dismantling and laundering the carseat.

SO disappointed … but, what can you do? (Disappointed about the accommodations not the PEE).

We’re now squashed in a small room (with a harbour view) and I am praying our funky little inn is up and running tomorrow.

Prince Rupert is not the end point for our journey. Lace is the winner (of exactly what … I am not sure). We are on our way to the Queen Charlotte Islands. I can’t wait.

Well actually I can wait. Prince Rupert looks fantastic. The scenery is breath taking and it’s full of funky little shops, historic buildings. Tomorrow should be a fun day. NO CAR!

Here are some highlights from today’s trip.

That was a fun contest. I learned quite a bit about the area just from trying to guess where you are going.

Wow! What a great group of pictures. Nice job. My wife and I took a road trip to Coure d’Alene, ID this past weekend. The scenery there and back was amazing. We had dinner on a floating restaurant and an eagle landed just outside the window. Lots of fun.

Looks so similar to our once a year trip. We head up to Prince Rupert with a long (much deserved) stop in Hazelton at my Grandparents home. Then home to Prince Rupert and my Dad’s house. I love Prince Rupert. The most interesting thing to me is watching the news while I’m home and seeing the rain icon and then peering out the window to a beautiful sunny day. I swear its a conspiracy to keep people out of the North!

I love the scenery in Moricetown – mountains, river, beautiful nature… and a real bear!!! How weren’t you afraid to come so close to take a shot? I have heard that bears are protecting their territory and do not let anybody enter, the trespasser can be attacked…
