I found a really fun site today: Scrapblog on a banner ad (don’t click on ads very often, but I liked the graphic) over at www.jenandtonic.ca.

I ended up spending way too much time today working on a digital scrapbook. I desperately want to show it to you because there is this cool contest that could win me a trip to Blogher! BUT, I have decided that it will be a Father’s Days surprize for Will so you’ll have to wait! Unless, I can figure out how to give you a sneak-peek with out giving it all away.

Here is a sample:

Scrapblog
I need to add text, but I have no idea which text! I am terrible at matching text to images. Any suggestions? BTW, this is my oldest daughter Hayley.

OK .. here is the whole thing so far (WILL – DO NOT LOOK!), I can’t resist the prize! I WANT a prize … so go take a peek!

http://www.scrapblog.com//viewer/viewer.aspx?sbid=32260
(Feel free to share this link with the world, the more views I get the better!)

I am not a scrapbooker in the ‘real’ world. In fact, I have avoided it! I so don’t need anymore junk in my house and/or any more projects to work on, but this was pretty fun!

Seeing as I wasted all my blogging time scrapbooking, I am taking the easy way out and giving away gift cards again – but this time, there is a twist :)

Over the next two three days I am giving away THREE FOUR $25 Gift Cards to www.thebabymarketplace.com. I will randomly draw TWO THREE winners on Day 13 14 (Wednesday Thursday night) about 9 pm’ish and a 3rd 4th Gift Card will go to the my writer of my favorite comment (see below for comment details).

www.thebabymarketplace.com Gift Certicate

To be eligible to win you need only leave a comment AND let us all know what you are giving your father / husband for Father’s Day, some of us need ideas!

***
Note: ALL Bical Grippers and Baby Shoes have been added to the MayMadness / June Jive coupon promo so if you don’t win’em you can buy’em … cheap like!

I’m giving away a FREE product every day until the end of June. Read more here: Contest Details

Visit www.thebabymarketplace.com for a great selection of baby shoes and baby clothes, cloth diapers too, and don’t forget the baby toys!

I have no idea what I am doing as a gift…….:(

Marcy · June 12, 2007 at 12:19 am

Father’s Day. Well we keep it simple. I take the kids out and they each get to pick out stuff for breakfast. Last year when I only had 2 kids lol. One Picked out Jam and one picked out Honey. It was nice cause it lasted for months. The kids knew it was DADDY’S jam and honey.

So this year maybe HOT SAUCE. DADDY loves hot sauce on his eggs.

Richard · June 12, 2007 at 2:12 am

Well, since I’m probably the only father around this joint… I’ll tell you what the mother of my kids did for me the last time around for my birthday (although it might have well been Father’s Day).

She and our kids live back home (in the Caribbean), and I live all the way in Arizona. Our twin girls were 3 months old at the time. Just before my birthday, I got a card in the mail that she wrote up, but she had them sign it by putting their little hand prints on the inside the card in different colors (of paint I guess), with their names written beneath the prints.

I just thought that was the cutest thing ever. :)

Kait · June 12, 2007 at 5:34 am

Sadly, I don’t have a gift idea yet! Maybe I’ll get some good ideas here…

Alexia · June 12, 2007 at 6:22 am

I am a single mother, my wonderful husband *sarcastic* decided that he was not interested in being a part of our family soooo for Father’s Day we will be doing nothing for him. I, however, feel I should treat myself seeing as how I am doing such an awesome job with my children. I’m thinking a homemade card with handprints and breakfast in bed :P

Jennifer Walker · June 12, 2007 at 6:30 am

I painted wooden letters spelling DAD for my son to hold and made a series of photos with him peering through the D and holding up the A and I made a homemade card for my husband. My son had a lot of fun and the whole project cost me next to nothing. I know my hubby will treasure the card forever. It will have a specail spot in his sock drawer, with all the other cards he’s gotten from me. :)

Magi · June 12, 2007 at 6:44 am

This is my husband’s first Father’s Day. He thinks he’s picked out his present already. He wanted to increase the RAM on his computer. Ostensibly to make doing Ebay auctions faster to make extra money to cover the horrendous debt we’re in after spending 16 days in China(soooooooo worth it), but really so he can play in an online game with his friends on Wednesday nights.

What he doesn’t know is that while we were in China, I took the most beautiful picture we’d taken of our new daughter and had a charcoal sketch made for him. It’s being framed now. He knows I bought one for my dad, but he doesn’t realize that there are two in that roll. ;o)

Cherylyn · June 12, 2007 at 7:59 am

Father’s day, hmmm, well over the past month I cleaned out my garage of 11 years worth of stuff. One box was mine. So, that’s kinda his gift, but we are buying him a toolbox, he gets to pick it out and then I am sticking a giftcard in it to a couple of his favorite fastfood joints. We are on a limited budget, so that’s a real treat!
Sunday will be family day, beacuse his favorite thing is getting to spend time with his guys! plus, I would imagine he’ll be on-line gaming Sunday night!

Pam · June 12, 2007 at 9:24 am

I’m going to try and do those hand impressions of my baby for fathers day. I tried doing her foot last week and it didn’t work out (using that gel stuff that hardens and then you fill it with plaster so you get a replica of the hand/foot not just an impression). I bought some different stuff to try again this week, maybe my daughter will even cooperate with me. I’m also going to look for some sort of daddy and me book, in addition to the hand/foot thing or as a backup plan in case it doesn’t turn out again.
I was thinking of giving my husband a day to himself with just his daughter, for them to do stuff together. But then I realized that he’d probably clue in that it was more of a gift to me as it would be my first real break of having time away from her other than when my MIL watches her on occasion. After the mothers day I DIDN’T have he’s lucky he’s getting more than a card though.

Jennifer Bogart · June 12, 2007 at 9:31 am

Father’s Day, we are having a picnic with friend chicken etc. AND the girls and I made him a cute scrapbooky type card (castle) with a poem inside of the drawbridge when you pull it up :).

Diane · June 12, 2007 at 9:52 am

Your children are beautiful!! Fathers day…. this is his first we are getting family portraits done for his dad, but I think my husband will get dinner out with his lovely wife and no children to celebrate… after all I think we should be celebrating our achievements as parents and I can’t think of a cheap gift that he would actually want! Good luck on you scrapbook contest.

leslie · June 12, 2007 at 10:14 am

…crocs…to match the baby’s!

Laura · June 12, 2007 at 10:15 am

I just found your website yesterday, very cute! I am the same way with scrapbooking, I’m not so keen on the hobby although most of my friends are. Just one more thing that would pile up on my table. But I have been thinking of digital scrapbooking…loved yours.

I’ve been in denial that Father’s Day is THIS Sunday. I for one love magazines, so I am seriously considering giving a magazine subscription to each: father, husband, FIL. No more ties, no more golf balls, but a present that will last all year long.

Cheri · June 12, 2007 at 10:19 am

First off, love the scrapbook – I’m going to take a look at maybe doing that later. I have also not gotten into scrapbooking IRL – don’t you feel like sometimes you’re missing something? Sometimes I do cause I know a lot of people who scrapbook.

Anyway, this is the first time I’ve visited your blog – someone posted about the contest so I came for a visit to check out your blog and store (I wouldn’t enter unless there was stuff that I thought I would want…). I’ve just recently started reading blogs – and really enjoy them – so you’re bookmarked for me to return to now.

And as for what I’m getting for Father’s Day – well I don’t speak to my own father – so that’s easy there…phew! As for hubby I got him a pair for boxers that say on the front “Do you think I’m sexy?” and on the back “Come on baby let me know”. They are so him. I got them at Walmart fo $10. Anyway, from the girls – I have 2 – we’ve started a tradition here in my house. We go to the dollar store (new amazing Dollarama by my house) and we let them pick out 5 gifts they want to give. It’s anything they want – I don’t help them at all. It’s fun to see what you get – and how it evolves over time. We started this a few years ago when my oldest was 3 or 4 – she’s now 6 and it’s not all about her anymore. It’s really neat that way. It’s an inexpensive way to have some fun anyway.

Stephanie · June 12, 2007 at 10:30 am

Digital scrap booking? That I could do! I am not a scrap booker; I don’t do the paper craft thang. I have wanted to find a way to keep some stuff (memories) without ending up with volumes of binders filled with a million little cartoon stinkers. I live in Utah the scrapbook capital of the world; those scrap booking stores make me break-out into hives. The digital scrapbook has perked my interest. I’ll have to look into it.

artsweet · June 12, 2007 at 10:54 am

Oh. Crap. Father’s Day. Is. Soon.

I think I’m going to get my dad a digital picture frame, so that he can have an ongoing slide show of his favorite pictures.

Lucy · June 12, 2007 at 11:12 am

No idea about Father’s Day. We tend to skip holidays in our family and only give something if we find something great. Although my dad always enjoys a lovely bowtie (http://www.beautiesltd.com/PRODUCT.ASPX?pn_deptid=6491).

Lisa · June 12, 2007 at 11:57 am

We are going to give daddy a new pair of crocs for fathers day and some yummy speciality coffee. I am giving my own dad a new basketball net and painting his poll for him as a surprise.

Lacey · June 12, 2007 at 12:13 pm

For father’s day, I will be spending time with my father and making him lunch. As for a gift, I am getting him a hammock. This is his first father’s day since he has retired. I think he deserves to relax a little.

Naomi · June 12, 2007 at 12:28 pm

I bought my husband a gigantic metal spatula/pizza peel thingie because he likes to make pizzas. So in essence, it’s a gift for me, too… I probably need to come up with something more daddy-centric. Roo and I will make a card as usual but maybe we’ll be fancy and make him a t-shirt this year. He wears his Daddytypes t-shirt all the time, that was what I got him last year…

Susanne · June 12, 2007 at 12:41 pm

I love the scrapblog idea! I’ll have to check into that myself. Yours looks so good. The backgrounds are really pretty. Hope you win!

We got a watch winder for my husband from Sharper Image. We hardly ever do anything nice for each other gift-wise (gift giving is just not our love language), but my husband has been complaining for years that his watch loses time when he doesn’t wear it. So the watch winder is like a small jewelry box that keeps the watch moving so that it will keep the time. My solution to this problem is to have a cheap old battery-powered watch, but that’s just me. :) My daughter is going to color a Father’s Day picture for her Daddy, and my little boy is too young to have a clue about it. We’ll probably make him some cookies or something too.

I loved reading everyone else’s ideas!

Elise · June 12, 2007 at 1:36 pm

My daughters are making home made father’s day cards to give dad. He always loves home made gifts.

Mrs. Pear · June 12, 2007 at 1:46 pm

Father’s Day this year is very special. For the last 8 months my husband has be commuting 80 miles each way to work while we waited for our house to sell down here. This drive is about an hour and a half each way, unless traffic is horrendous, then it becomes 2 hours. My husband gets up and is gone before we are even up (he refused to allow me to get up with him to pack his lunch or make him breakfast), and he gets home just in time for supper. We have an hour and a halfish of family time, then our daughter goes to bed, and my husband logs in to finish his day of work. Once he is done, it is basically time for bed. He does not complain, but he falls into bed exhausted.

This weekend is our first weekend in our new house, located 6.26 miles from work.

This move on Thursday marks the return of family time during the week, and more enjoyable weekends as we will not be completely exhausted.

So to celebrate, besides moving into our new home, we are giving Daddy a water table so that we can all play together. Something to celebrate what a wonderful Daddy he is (he is the one that introduced water play1), and be together.

We are celebrating more than Father’s Day this year, we are celebrating our family.

Marla Kostis · June 12, 2007 at 2:07 pm

This is my first time looking at your blog….great job! Keep it up!

Marla Kostis · June 12, 2007 at 2:09 pm

I am giving my hubby a golf membership at the club just around the corner. I know he’ll be thrilled ~ he’s never had one before and loves to go golfing.

Kilikina · June 12, 2007 at 2:32 pm

Count me in for this. Honestly I am not getting my hubby anything for Fathers Day. (money reasons) But I would probably have gotten him some sort of tool!

Montserrat · June 12, 2007 at 2:42 pm

For Father’s Day this year we are getting my hubby an IPod so he can listen to old time radio shows while he is up at night baling hay. But last year we gave him a ‘Pop’ Quiz. The girls wrote out a whole list of things they love about their dad and what they like to do with him. We cut the list into strips, put each strip into a balloon, and blew the balloons up. He had to pop each balloon and read what the girls wrote about him. He was quite the sentimental sap by the time all the balloons were gone. It was very sweet!

Heather · June 12, 2007 at 2:47 pm

For Father’s Day my kids will likely give Daddy the same gift we did last year. We made a picture with all 4 kids handprints (not an easy task with 4 little kids!) and printed a nice poem. Then we matted and framed it. I also took the kids to a photographer and had portraits done and framed those. It was the best gift! He loved it! So we’ll be not-so-creative and do it again.

For MY father, I’m sending him a DVD that my DH made. It’s pictures of all of our kids with him over the last 4 years. It’s like a slideshow set to music and it’s 30 minutes long. He’s going to love it!

Julie · June 12, 2007 at 3:15 pm

I just went out today to buy DH’s Father’s Day gift. We got him a board book called, Daddy Hugs (he and DD love to read together and this one seemed fitting) and Justin Timberlake’s latest CD (I felt like a real dork buying this but DH loves it – I’m not sure he’d want the world to know this…).

Deanne S. · June 12, 2007 at 3:30 pm

My son made a wind chime in preschool that he is giving daddy, and a card that his teacher’s helped him make which asks questions like “My daddy is best at…” and they wrote his answers. There are about 10 questions and answers, which are priceless! I got one similar for Mother’s day and there is no store bought gift in the world that can replace something like that!!!

Jen the Mom · June 12, 2007 at 3:51 pm

I bought a house for my husband. I know, the ultimate in intimate gift giving. I rock.

Jen the Mom · June 12, 2007 at 3:52 pm

By the way, my BabyLegs came in the mail today and I put pictures up on my blog. I love them, they’re awesome!

Tracy · June 12, 2007 at 6:41 pm

I have just discovered your web site and have really enjoyed it. I don’t have very much planned this year for Father’s Day. If I could I would love to give birth to our 4th (and last) baby boy which is due in just 1 1/2 weeks but of course those kinds of things you just can’t plan. I have a very understanding husband who is not expecting to much this year just some family time with his three boys and pregnant wife and of course all the wonderful little gifts that his boys have made for hime at school. What more could you ask for? He is a good man.

katie bowen · June 12, 2007 at 7:31 pm

ahhh..what to do for the hubby…we did make him a neat card at ophoto.com, but we still need to get him something. maybe a morning to sleep in?!!! ps-we LOVE the bical shoes…they are awesome. James looks so cute and badass in the little skull and crossbones ones. really comfy and an awesome alternative to robeez…which don’t work well for offroading adventures. THANKS!

laura · June 12, 2007 at 8:04 pm

Well, my husband starts work in Bangkok the day after Father’s Day, so he’ll be apart from us. We celebrated last weekend instead. His gifts are a pair of gym shorts and swimming trunks – not sentimental, but practical things that he can use during the three weeks between our moves, and maybe find something to occupy him instead of missing us so much!

Lisa · June 12, 2007 at 8:59 pm

Well, this is my first visit to your site. It was recommended to me and I am looking forward to checking it out.

This is my husbands first Fathers Day. He already got a mitre saw that he had really wanted. I still wanted to surprise him with something so I went to a paint your own ceramics place. I got my daughters footprint on a box. I am picking it up tomorrow an dcan’t wait to see it.

Carol · June 12, 2007 at 9:46 pm

nothing!

Jen · June 12, 2007 at 9:50 pm

This year, our daughter and I are giving my husband a Tilley hat. He has wanted one for a while and he’s been doing a lot of stuff outside lately, but these hats are so expensive that he couldn’t really justify it. So, it’s a nice luxury and a practical gift all wrapped in to one :)

I’m also thinking of trying to find one of those picture frames with the recordable voice chips so that I can put a picture of our daughter in it and record her saying “Daddy” – one of her favourite words. :) This way, he can put it on his desk at work and listen to her cute little voice whenever he misses her!

Nikki · June 12, 2007 at 10:02 pm

I love the scrapblog. I’m going to look into that more. I love digital scrapbooking.

Still not sure about fathers day.

Joi · June 12, 2007 at 10:05 pm

Well, we are moving this weekend, so I don’t have too much planned for my dh. I will let the kids pick out whatever they want for him – I like doing that – even if it is a toy or something..it is neat because it came from them with no help from me.

Oh..and Jen – above – looking for the recordable chip – You can search some scrapbooking sites (saw it on DIY) and find just the little circle that records – They covered it with cute paper with a hole for the button and scrapped it onto the card/page.. Too cute!

Mary-Jo · June 12, 2007 at 10:39 pm

Breakfast at his fav morning spot, take the car to get hand washed for him, make him his most fav. cheesecake and give him some time to play his guitar and chill AND just hang out all together for some quality time, in a nut-shell, that’s the father’s day plan so far…

Danielle · June 12, 2007 at 11:10 pm

I got my husband a mug with both the kids pictures on it for his morning coffee. He won’t be home for father’s day as he is going away on a golf weekend so we are also sneaking a few golf shirts and a card into his weekend bag:) He will be thrilled.

Nikki · June 12, 2007 at 11:15 pm

Just wanted to say “thanks alot!!” I just spent the last hour creating a scrapblog when I should have been cleaning or sleeping :) How fun!

Mama K · June 13, 2007 at 6:16 am

Great job! I usually look for a famous quote that fits the feeling I’m going for. Like this one

“A daughter is the happy memories of the past, the joyful moments of the present, and the hope and promise of the future.” ~Author Unknown

For my hubby’s first father’s day this year I got him a book for now Daddy’s Are For Catching Fireflies and a book for them to enjoy later The Dangerous Book for Boys. I also got him an old fashioned shaving mug and soap. I figured that was pretty “manly” : )

maddiesmom · June 13, 2007 at 7:33 am

Everyone has such great ideas! This is our first Father’s Day. Since my daughter is still a baby it’s up to me. I think we’ll get my husband a membership to the local golf course. I look forward to the homemade items my daughter will make him!

Damselfly · June 13, 2007 at 11:15 am

Wow, you are amazing with all of these giveaways!

I ended up wasting a lot of time over at Scrapblog too! Even though I’m not sure about going to BlogHer, I clicked and attempted to make a scrapblog. Sooo fun! And BTW, your daughter Hayley is gorgeous! You must be so proud.

For Father’s Day, The Husbland is getting some much-needed clothes, along with a Memory Book I created at Snapfish that features photos of him and our little boy. (Another ScrapBlog-type project, but you get to print it!) There’s also a book that’s really for our baby that’s called “Just Like Daddy,” and to top it all off, I’m sewing them matching Hawaiian-style shirts. I’m sure my husband will hate the shirt, but I hope he’ll wear it long enough for me to just take a photo of the two of them in their matching shirts!

Ann · June 13, 2007 at 6:29 pm

Don’t plan on doing much this year. Bought my dad a new shirt and I’m going to prepare a special lunch which I will serve him.

justin · June 13, 2007 at 7:10 pm

I would love to have a new shaver and a new striped tie and and and a new pair of socks and if possible, a new 55 inch plasma in case my wife is reading.

anna · June 13, 2007 at 7:11 pm

For fathers day, we are going to give him an empty, quiet house for the day!!!

Susy-Q · June 13, 2007 at 7:32 pm

For Father’s Day we are buying my father a tree. He had to get the tree on his front lawn cut, so we decided we would chip in to buy him a replacement. It will be a Northern Catalpa. It’s a beautiful tree and I know he will love it. We are also making a t-shirt for him that says “World’s best Grandpa – Hand down” and on it, we put our son’s hand prints. It will be messy, but fun to make.

For my dear husband, well, he got what a man can’t get enough of…no, not that…I mean tools! A few weeks ago he had a big project for the backyard and complained he was missing some “important” tools. I went to our closest hardware store and bought him a whole tool set. Guaranteed smiles and brownie points!

Deb · June 13, 2007 at 8:43 pm

Hmm, considering funds are a bit low this year, I will have to be pretty creative. My husband thinks the best gifts in life are food, so I may resort to making one of his favourites: pizza or steak, and perhaps have the girls ‘help’ out.

amyz · June 13, 2007 at 9:24 pm

This is my husband’s second father’s day. He’s getting a practical gift for chasing around our almost two year old, a pair of stylish Crocs in a subtle color. I didn’t know such existed until I saw the Croc Endeavors at Nordstrom (look them up)

From his son, Dad’s getting the book, The Dangerous Book for Boys by Conn Iggulden (description: a wonderful collection of all things that make being young or young at heart fun–building go-carts and electromagnets, identifying insects and spiders, or finding true north).

And to show my appreciation for his wonderful fathering, he’ll get a little extra attention in the bedroom. :)

Marlo · June 13, 2007 at 10:13 pm

Ah father’s day….I am not postitive yet, as i am going to have to be really creative, but there will certainly be some delicious food with a salad he is dying to try. Possibly a book of some kind, but funds are pretty tight, so it mighthave to be the new axles that just got put on the car. Great gift, I know.

Yan · June 14, 2007 at 12:11 am

My son who is two now will make a craft for daddy, and my daughter will “help”. Then we will all go out for a beautiful Sunday brunch. After that daddy gets to do whatever he want, and I am guessing that it will be napping without interruption :) Oh, and I am getting my son to say “we love you, happy father’s day” and record it on the cell phone, we will use it as the wake up ring tone on Father’s day.

Daisymom · June 14, 2007 at 10:28 am

I wish I had a really creative idea. We don’t do huge things for father’s day or mother’s day. I think I’ll make pancakes and bacon for breakfast and then spend the day doing things that he enjoys. Being outside with family and enjoying having our baby girl this year.

Last year I gave my husband a teddy bear for our soon to be born daughter. It was a fun gift, the teddy bear was called Charley bear on the tag and his name is Charlie so I thought it was a nice tie in. This year our little girl is here and loves to play with her teddy.

hmama · June 14, 2007 at 4:30 pm

Love the digital scrapbook idea. I’ve seen a magazine (i think it was called digital scrapbook:)) with many of the same ideas. It looks like it would have good taglines for your specific picture ideas.

We really don’t do much for celebrations and birthdays at our house for the mum and dads. Well, for mother’s day this year I received a pressure washer! We really just see what we need around the house and then buy it for each other. Actually I really love the washer, but I love those kind of ‘toys’.

Anu · June 14, 2007 at 4:42 pm

Breakfast in bed! A movie and then lunch in his fav restaurant.
