Georgia asked me to make her a play cake today. We looked on the internet and she pointed out the largest cake possible, I reluctantly agreed. After an early supper, I sat down and made her this cake.

Several hours later … I presented it to her with a big—> TaDA!

I expected cheering and clapping. Instead, I received this sort of reaction …

Thanks for all of your holiday suggestions a few posts ago. We still haven’t decided what to do (most likely nothing extended). We have a 3 day backbacking trip planned in July (20km in and 20km out with 40lbs on my back) and a camping trip in August (tent trailer with 4 kids). I’d kind of like a holiday that doesn’t involve quite so much work.

Last year we had the BEST family holiday ever (I am not being paid for this endorsement – but it’s not a bad idea – hint-hint—> Sunshine Houseboat Vacations).

The accomodations – it sleeps 16 so plenty of room for friends and/or extended family!

There were great beaches EVERYWHERE, check out Liz and Sam building a sandcastle with Great-Grandma (my grandma). We had four generations on board ages 5 months to 74 years.

When we weren’t hanging out on the beach or in the water, we were on the upper deck “driving” the boat and warming up in the hot-tub. Oh yeah, this baby had everything including a BIG waterslide off the back end.

Keeping Georgia dry wasn’t easy. We had a whole pile of swim diapers along but on this particular day, a walk on the beach fully clothed turned into a skinny dip! Note: she kept on her Bical Grippers baby shoes.

This is my oldest daughter Hayley (and baby cousin Brandon). Hayley doesn’t get much coverage on this site not being a baby and all, BUT even she rates this as her #1 vacation (over Disney, south of France, Spain and other worldly locations that my lucky girl has travelled to).

At night, we relaxed by the campfire on whatever deserted beach we decided to park our luxury sleeping quarters.

The basics:

Okay, that is the easy part … now you want to know exactly what kind right?

That really is the tough part because every home is different and all parents have their preferences. With our newest baby Georgia we used:

Seriously, this was by far the most successful newborn diaper system I have tried. It is BLOW OUT proof! For soon-to-be parents who don’t know what a BLOW OUT is—> Def: when the seriously loose BM of ALL newborns is expelled out the waist (usually makes it 3/4 of the way up babies back) and leg openings of diapers. Requires full change of clothing, swaddling blanket and very often a bath for baby and/or one or both parents.

If you are a disposable diapering parent with BLOW OUT issues —> my advice to you is to switch to cloth or swaddle (keeps the poop contained).

Now of course being a cloth diaper loving mom I had to have a few other diapers and covers in my stash and they are (in no order of importance):
