We’ve just arrived home from Easter at the farm. I am better, but tired. I was extremely grateful to Mr. MK for writing my post last night.
Today Lizzy turned NINE. I know it’s a cliche, but it’s hard for me to believe.
NINE! Nine is 1/2 grown. Nine requires curlers. Nine is BEAUTIFUL!
A new baby arrived today to share Lizzy’s birthday.
She was hard to resist. I wanted to bring her home.

Beautiful image of a nine year old beauty.
But when I see the tag on the calf, all I think of is steak. Sorry.

The calf is very unlikely to ever be steak. She is registered polled hereford calf. She is destined to eat and have babies. If I am mistaken and this is a bull calf, he is destined to make babies (does it get any better for male species?).
The tag is a humane alternative to branding (which is a nasty practice IMO).

Cuties… both of them! LOL. Happy birthday to Lizzy.. must have beenstrange for easter to fall today eh? First time in 95 years that Easter has been this early, and it won’t happen again for another 220 years. So it is a very special day to have her birthday.

@ JaimeS – Lizzy was really excited to have her birthday on Easter! A special dinner with grandparents, great-grandmas etc. made it very special.
My brother’s birthday is March 26th and he too has had an Easter birthday so I didn’t realize this was such a ‘special’ occassion. Thanks for the info!

My husband’s birthday is tomorrow so I guess he’s probably had an easter birthday at one time or another as well. It’s always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. If the full moon falls on a Sunday its the Sunday afterwards. I hadn’t realized there was so much astronomy involved until Mark Madryga explained it on Global.. lol. He’s great :O)

Happy Birthday Lizzy! She is a beautiful 9-year old.
The picture of that sweet little calf is perfectly symbolic of spring. Makes me think that spring should be right around the corner but over here, winter has yet to release its claws on us. Why oh why can’t winter just go away?
