Well, I hate to make you all jealous. Well, actually I don’t, I rather enjoy bragging (NOT!), BUT I had a frickin’ fantastic lunch with the fun, smart and talented jenB of jenandtonic.ca fame. Remember, I told you yesterday we were meeting for lunch?

Jen also writes a column over @ ALPHA + MOM, where she is in good company with Dooce (Dooce Plugs In) and Alice Bradley (Wonderland) and more … check it out.

It was great, Jen was just as nice as everyone says!

ME, however, I have to get a handle on the verbal diarrea … honestly. I feel like I didn’t SHUT UP! Sorry Jen. Some folks drink to much and feel remorseful, NOT ME, I talk too much and feel remorseful. Then again, I did manage to eat every drop of my huge platter of fajitas and chips and dip and drink at least a half dozen large drinks, so maybe I did let her get in a word or two … I did, didn’t I?

You may have guessed that I have a photo phobia. I don’t like to see myself in photo’s. In my mind I am tall and slim. Pictures just bring back reality … I am actually built like a brick shithouse. All that said, it seems rather ridicules. Lately, as my photography ‘hobby’ has developed (I hated taking pictures until just recently), I have realized that I have no pictures with me and my family. We don’t have even one family picture. The last formal picture I had take was when Hayley was two! It stops right now …

I just took a big huge breath! Breathe … mommyknows … breathe …

JenandTonic and MommyKnows
My Friend Jen and Me.

OK, that wasn’t so bad.

The photo was taken by our friendly waiter ‘Brad’.

Chili Brad
Brad wasn’t this thin when we arrived, I kept him on his toes getting me diet coke refills.

Have a great weekend!

You look great! Thanks for finally showing yourself. I love to keep them running for those Diet Coke refills.

MommyKnows · August 17, 2007 at 11:52 pm

@ glittersmama ~ thanks!

Bree · August 18, 2007 at 12:39 am

I am so happy you had a great time! What a blast! You are beautiful! no reason to hide behind the camera!! I can see where your girls get their looks!

jenB · August 18, 2007 at 12:55 am

I don’t write a column at Alpha+mom, just a short blurb this month, but thanks! I couldn’t believe you had a photo phobia after we met, i MEAN LOOK AT YOU!

I think I did my fair share of talking, and honestly, I could have just listened the whole lunch. You are one amazing, loverly, smart and INTERESTING person. You are so now MY FRIEND KIM!

Man, now I want another diet pepsi.

Divrchk · August 18, 2007 at 6:05 am

Yeah for having fun lunch dates. I could use one of those in a bad way.

Marla · August 18, 2007 at 6:21 am

I absolutely hate having my photo taken also. But, like you, I realized there are almost NO photos of me, and have resolved to start having photos taken. It’s really hard, tho!

Safire · August 18, 2007 at 8:03 am

You look great! I can see where your kids get their looks from. And yay for girlfriend lunches and nachoes!

lace · August 18, 2007 at 8:09 am

Now we see where Georgia gets her sparkling blue eyes from. Congratulations on having a photo taken and then taking the plunge and putting it on web. I have yet to put a photo of me on my blog. Not sure if I will or not.

Jaime Stephens · August 18, 2007 at 8:31 am

I’m the same way with having pictures taken. I’ve just finally started having more done as the only ones we really have are when the girls were born… and well because we were breastfeeding most pictures have more booby in them than is appropriate to show everyone. LOL.

Alexia · August 18, 2007 at 8:39 am

I sympathize. I own about 10 pictures of me from about 14 to now…it’s sad. I’ve been trying to get myself in more photos too!

Angella · August 18, 2007 at 9:31 am

Sounds like a great lunch. And I have NO IDEA why you would avoid the camera. Seriously!

corey · August 18, 2007 at 9:33 am

It is lovely to see you! :)

Karyne · August 18, 2007 at 9:35 am

You look great. I’m happy to put of face on mommyknows!

Joa · August 18, 2007 at 9:39 am

Vous êtes magnifique! Vous ne devriez pas fuir les caméras. Maintenant avec le numérique, c’est facile de «perdre» celles qui ne nous rendent pas justice. On garde les meilleures!

Lisa · August 18, 2007 at 9:48 am

YOu look great!! Girls lunch out is probably just what you needed after Georgia being grumpy:)

Michelle · August 18, 2007 at 9:55 am

So we finally see you!

PamW · August 18, 2007 at 10:02 am

You photograph really well. There’s no reason you should hide behind the camera, you should stay in front of it of some of those shots!

Kathryn · August 18, 2007 at 10:37 am

Oh, I’m the same way w/pics. You, however, look Mahvelous, darling! I LOVE those IRL meetings, glad you had fun!

jw4mkc · August 18, 2007 at 10:55 am

At least you weren’t wanting your pic taken.. My problem is that I want pics of me and the girls and have noone to take them! My 10 second counter and I have become great companions.. The pics are much better that way then the “arms length” photos of my college days. :)

Teresa · August 18, 2007 at 11:11 am

You look GREAT! Thanks for finally sharing a picture of yourself. Glad you had a good lunch!

serina · August 18, 2007 at 12:48 pm

Lovely photo. I hate being in pictures, too. You have no reason to avoid!

carol · August 18, 2007 at 12:56 pm

Well, Hello mommyknows! Nice to see you.

Diane · August 18, 2007 at 12:58 pm

congratulations on stepping out of your box… it takes a lot of bravery to so that… you are very funny too!

Christina · August 18, 2007 at 1:07 pm

Nice to put a face with the words!

Mefeng · August 18, 2007 at 1:26 pm

Great to see you, you look nice.

leahpeah · August 18, 2007 at 2:29 pm

JenB seriously is the nicest person you’ll ever meet. What a great photo!

OMSH · August 18, 2007 at 2:36 pm

I saw the photo over at Jen’s place. I told her that was the second photo EVER I’ve seen of you in how many years?

The new blog looks fabulous Kim!

Have a good one!

alison · August 18, 2007 at 2:58 pm

I look back through pictures and realize that we have a lot more of my husband than myself. Not necessarily because I don’t like having my picture taken, but because I am usually the one behind the camera. So, at the fair today I passed the camera off and I just hope that I look decent compared to my adorable little boy.

Cathy · August 18, 2007 at 3:08 pm

I’m not sure that I’ve seen a picture of you before. Your daughter, Georgia, looks just like you!!

cathy

Naomi · August 18, 2007 at 3:27 pm

I hate pics of myself, too. I cringe when I look at them. You both look great, though, and more importantly like you’re having fun.

Paige · August 18, 2007 at 5:57 pm

I don’t really like to be IN the pictures. Which is funny, because back before I had kids, when I wasn’t so fat, I was kind of a camera hog. I would do all kinds of funny things and take pictures of me doing them. But now, it’s all about the kids.

deb · August 18, 2007 at 6:29 pm

I am not a fan of photos of myself either. I must say though, you are beautiful – don’t be afraid of the camera!

jenB · August 18, 2007 at 7:12 pm

The first thing I SAID WAS you look just like Georgia!

Heather · August 18, 2007 at 7:53 pm

I can see where Georgia got her stunning blue eyes!!

Nikki · August 18, 2007 at 8:20 pm

I don’t think I’ve ever liked myself in a photo. You both look great!

Deanne S. · August 18, 2007 at 9:26 pm

it is hard to be in the pictures when you are the one always taking them!!

Gayle · August 18, 2007 at 10:36 pm

Absolutely stunning picture, Kim!

Yan · August 19, 2007 at 12:17 am

You look great, I see so much of you in your kids :)

Beth · August 19, 2007 at 12:29 am

I hate pics of myself-I always try to get my husband to be in them with my son instead of me :)

Jamie · August 19, 2007 at 6:40 am

I hate having my picture taken too! Except I think it’s because I just KNOW that no one in my household can take pictures as well as I can! :D

Kait · August 19, 2007 at 8:07 am

That’s where those eyes came from!

Kami · August 19, 2007 at 11:11 am

You need to stop avoiding the camera girl, you are beautiful!

Glad you had a good lunch with a fellow celebrity blogger :-)

Susy-Q · August 19, 2007 at 12:13 pm

I also hate pictures of myself! I really really hate it. I always look bigger than I feel. That’s a good thing right?

Laura · August 19, 2007 at 2:56 pm

Wow, congrats at overcoming your photo phobia! You give me strength… but I don’t think I am ready yet to post one of me.

lace · August 19, 2007 at 3:50 pm

I need a lunch date with friends. I think I might just call up some friends. Thanks for the inspiration.

Cherylyn · August 19, 2007 at 4:28 pm

I heard a comedian this weekend, she was saying, if you hate a picture of yourself, bury it for 5 years, then you’ll pull it out and say, man I can’t believe I looked that good!

Cherylyn · August 19, 2007 at 4:47 pm

Then, my one year old messes witht eh computer and i don’t get to finish my comment, I don’t think you need to wait 5 years, however, you look great!

Andrea · August 19, 2007 at 8:36 pm

Yeah…family pictures!! I’m a picture MANIAC, so I’m sure we’ll never have a shortage of those! :)

Priya · August 19, 2007 at 11:04 pm

Ness · August 20, 2007 at 4:00 am

You look great don’t be so hard on yourself.

Deb · August 20, 2007 at 8:19 am

Hmm..now you have me thinking of taking a family picture….

Priya · August 20, 2007 at 9:29 am

Brads pic is killing me :)

Jaime Stephens · August 20, 2007 at 10:02 am

I agree Brad does look like a character… exactly the type of waiter who’s great to have. I hope you left him a big tip so he can put some weight back on after running for your diet cokes!

Marcy · August 20, 2007 at 10:08 am

Big tips for the waiter who keeps the diet coke flowing!!

Diane · August 20, 2007 at 11:14 am

I prefer bubbly water… but I too make them earn that tip!!

lace · August 20, 2007 at 2:01 pm

Where did you go to have such a great lunch? Might this restaurant have a brother or sister in the States I could visit?

Ness · August 21, 2007 at 9:16 pm

I love the new clothes on the site.
