About a month ago, we started having troubles with our stove. The elements for the burners worked intermittently. Usually a jiggle or nudge to the element would fix the problem and cooking would commence. Then one night after dinner, while I wiping down the stove, I was electocuted. BIG time electrocuted, the electricity went up one arm and down the other. I grabbed the counter top to catch my balance and the finger that touched the counter first was burnt and blistered. It was painful and scary and the arch of electricity actually was powerful enough (and hot enough) to sodder the metal element to the edge of the burner, virtually instantaneously. I could smell fire and burning and could ‘taste’ electricity in my mouth. OH yeah, and FLAMES … a 6” flame shot out of the burner area.

Needless to say, we unplugged the stove and I refused to go near it. I then started calling Electrolux the maker of our Kelvinator Stove/Range for assistance. I have called repeatly … NOTHING (Electrolux, if you read this … our stove was only 5/6 years old, it is unusable (dangerous) and it electrocuted me – you need to respond to my calls).

Mr. MommyKnows decided Saturday, after a full month of “NO” cooking in our house, it had to end and went out and purchased a new stove, fridge (they should match right?) and a big screen TV (his birthday gift from me). I find kitchen appliances (and TV’s) totally boring and was intent on making Electrolux send me a new one, so I didn’t go shopping, I could careless as long as they work, we can afford them and I am not Electrocuted during maintenance. AND I was sort of enjoying the no cooking (I hate cooking).

As we adults worked to get all of our new appliances set-up and running, the kids decided to build a fort outside using the HUGE boxes the stove and TV arrived in. I vaguely remember, giving my “OK” to a request for a steak knife! Bad move …

Lots of blood accompanied … A LOT of screaming.

Kid’s home ~ it’s like they never left. Now wishing I would have done a little less work and had a little more fun while they were gone! Sheesh, will I never learn?

In answer to all those emails: Yes, I am in the family picture, very back row 2nd from the left in between orange shirt (John) and burgandy shirt (Greg). I am NOT hiding … I am so over that photo phobia thing! In fact, I am so over it that I took my picture with a towel on my head and no make up and posted it on flickr. I am not so over it that I want to post it here, but if you have the time you can go on over and have a laugh look.

I was so grumpy on Monday; I forgot to tell you that I am childfree and have been since Sunday night. Yes, you heard me right – ALL 4 gone! One traipsing around Brazil, and three with my mother on the farm. After a weekend at moms, she generously offered me the option of leaving them there. HELL YAH!

Saturday afternoon we had a ‘Family Picnic’, not just my immediate family, BUT the WHOLE family ~ the descendants of my ‘great’ grandparents.

This is all that attended the picnic. Just look what just two people can accomplish! We are now in our 5th generation with several ‘great-great’ grandchildren. You can see all the family pictures posted here: Wennerstrom Family Picnic. There are lots missing, but overall the turn out was pretty darn good.
