Several months ago, I posted about Hayley (my oldest daughter) going to Brazil next year. She is going as a Rotary Youth Exchange Program. It’s going to be a great adventure, but we will miss her!

She leaves August 11th and will be gone for 10-11 months! AHHHH!

I promised my kids I wouldn’t spend the summer sitting @ my desk doing www.thebabymarketplace.com stuff. I am trying really hard to keep that promise! I read a post a few weeks ago over at Beehive Academy, about saying “yes” to your kids. NO, it’s not about letting them rule the roost, it’s more about getting out of the ‘habit’ of always saying “NO”. I say, “NO” even when I don’t mean it, sometimes I don’t even think about what I am saying, I am just typing away and I say “NO”. It goes like this:
Kid: mom, can we have a popsicle?
Me: “NO”
Voice of reason: Uh, like why not … it’s 30C/90F, they ate their lunch, they’re outside …
Kid: mom, can we go to the park?
Me: “NO”
Voice of reason: Uh, like why not … it’s 30C/90F, I’ve been plucking away at this damn computer for hours (that’s why you get your orders so fast), they could use some fun …
Kid: mom, can we have lunch?
Me: “NO”
Voice of reason: Uh, like why not … it’s 2:30 pm, they haven’t eaten since breakfast @ 8:30 and (that’s why you get your orders so fast), they could use some FOOD …
You are starting to get the idea right? I have been trying to say “YES” when it’s something that is more important than this damn computer and REALLY having fun!

UPDATE So busy … holding this over until Wednesday p.m. and will give two pair away.**
I have this ‘NO fail potty training program™’, that I haven’t begun with Georgia yet. Mostly because I am not ready and it requires staying home for 1 week (seven whole days) and I have plans every weekend until mid-August that require one or both of us leaving the premises.
I am not going to tell you about the ‘NO fail potty training program™’ until it begins, BUT I think I may have to cancel my some of my weekend plans because Georgia is training herself (AND we can’t have that, it’s my job damn-it). Do you think I could call and say I can’t make this weekends wedding because Georgia’s poopin’ on the potty and we can’t do go AWOL on the ‘NO fail potty training program™’? Or next weekend, we are planning to meet up with friends from Louisiana in Banff, you think maybe they could change their flights? Or the weekend after that a 40th anniversary party / camping trip, do you think you could you postpone it?
NOPE it ain’t gonna happen!

I have started this first sentence about 1/2 dozen times. I keep having to start again, because it’s just pure misery and whining. I’ll just say that I woke up with a migraine. No more explanation needed, right? I missed a bridal shower, for which I feel guilty.
I am the queen of guilt. I feel guilty about everything, if you aren’t happy, don’t tell me—> I’ll feel guilty!
Friday night we received a HUGE shipment of toys from Manhattan Toy (winter and holiday stock is starting to arrive) about 6 p.m., too late to take to the warehouse (all deliveries come to me, mostly so I don’t have to pay staff to wait around @ the warehouse doing nothing), so they are stacked at my front door under a tarp (in case of rain).
